During such unprecedented and unsettling times, confidence in the care provided to your loved one is heightened. The highest compliment I can give is that there was never a moment's doubt or worry that our relative was not receiving the very best of care, for both his physical and mental well being.
Well informed "easy to assess" communication has meant that although not physically present. The last few months have had a purpose and meaning and we as relatives have been able to "share" activities and celebrations. Excellent.

Lovely rest home, with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Staff always very attentive and professional but without losing the personal touch. Various seasonal events as well which provides a lovely change for the residents, with the recent Christmas family lunch providing some great entertainment with quality
home-cooked food.
Quiet private garden area to the rear, which makes a great change of scenery, especially in the summer. Highly recommended. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
Well done Tendring Care Homes Ltd!

Very pleased with the care my mother has and is receiving. The staff are very kind and caring and there is always a happy atmosphere. The bedrooms are always nice and clean and the homecooked food is excellent. A lot of thought has gone into the entertainment for the residents.

I am very pleased with the service provided by Tendring. My elderly mother has been a resident since September 2017. It took her a long time to get used to communal living since she was always self-sufficient since 2006 and lived in a flat after my father died. My only real concern is the fact the staff
are constantly changing. The best staff seem to be the ones who stay the longest.

My mother has been a resident at Tendring Care Homes for over a year now and I am so happy we chose this home for her. The staff are wonderful and mum has settled really well. I am particularly impressed at the amount of activities mum gets to do and the entertainment they have there. It really seems
like home now for mum and me when I visit!

We are always made welcome when we visit our mother, always unannounced. She is well cared for and not forced to do anything she doesn't want to. She is, however, encouraged to participate in activities and usually does.
Healthwise, staff are extremely professional. Quick to notify relatives and medical
services if there is a problem. Mum has been well looked after for 6 1/2 years at Tendring.

The vast majority of my visits to Tendring are spontaneous and I have always found my mother well cared for. The excellent staff have to work around space and room layout not made east by the previous house design. I have, however always found them conscientious, helpful, cheerful and above all caring
about the residents well being. improvements (especially in the dining area) have created a more pleasant and fresher feel to the home. Thank you Tendering.

I have found Tendring to live up to all of my expectations as described by several families who have used the home in the past. Management and staff have been kind and helpful throughout my mum-in-law's stay and I challenge anyone to say they would find better. I could see myself as a candidate in a
few years time.

My mother was assessed while in hospital as she couldn't return home because she required constant care and was in constant danger of falling. She has dementia. The home agreed to take her in November 2017. In March 2018 they gave her notice to leave as she required too much care - i.e. constant care
and she wanders. When I queried this they said that they only deal with mild dementia cases - she was already past this point when she was assessed by them. I have had to find a new home for her and am concerned about the upheaval for her as she is very confused. Fortunately, I've found a better care home that also says it caters for dementia sufferers, but they appreciate what dementia means and that she will need constant care. They have pads installed so that they are warned when a resident stands up from their chair or tries to get out of bed - something that Tendring does not have.

It is unfortunate that during your mothers stay at Tendring Care Home, her condition deteriorated and she required more specialist care. We worked very hard with both the GP surgery and the Older Persons Mental Health Team, but it was decided that in the best interests of your mother, she needed a higher level of care than previously. Your mother did have an alarm mat in place during the entirety of her stay and we were able to monitor her movements. We do hope she is settling in her new home and appreciate that this was a difficult decision for all of us.

My mother came to Tendering Rest Home on 30th December 2017 for 1 month's respite, mainly to get her strength back after 1 month in hospital following broken wrist and arm. Mum was treated with the utmost care as she said: "treated like royalty". If the time comes and mum does need to move into care,
Tendering Rest Home will be the first enquiry for residency. I would recommend the home to anybody.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.507)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.507) out of 10 for Tendring Care Homes Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.607 for Tendring Care Homes Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 117 Ratings = 4.607

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tendring Care Homes Ltd is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
