I was really worried about Mum going into a care home, but I am so happy we chose Tendring, the care is exceptional. The staff are very caring and always upbeat. There is always entertainment and things to do, craft etc. Mum has never looked so well and I have total peace of mind.

Changing from one's own home to care has been strange at times but the staff and management are very good at helping me settle in. I find it easy to work with the staff and they do everything they can to make things easy and enjoyable despite my health problems (poor sight and mobility).

We are very pleased with the care provided to my elderly father in the 10 months he has been at the home. At 95, it was a tremendous wrench to have to move into care but the room is very suitable and the staff have made everyone welcome and ensured that has settled well. There is plenty of entertainment
which are optional (dads sight is bad so not all are suitable). Overall, we feel very lucky to found such good care.

We were very pleased with the care and attention given to our mum. The home is extremely well run with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and there was always plenty going on when we visited. Mum liked to engage in the crafts and entertainment which kept her mind alert and passed the time of day. The
staff really seem to care about their residents which is really nice.

My mother died on 21st March 2017.
Her stay at Tendring was a very happy one.
We knew that Mum was always safe, warm and well-fed.
All the staff did their best for Mum.
Her room was always clean and tidy.
The food was very good and if we stayed with Mum at lunch time we could also eat with her.
We
always had morning tea with her.
We had two very happy Christmas dinners and parties with her.
The morning Mum died the staff were so kind to us and helpful.
Nothing has ever been too much trouble.
I cannot thank the staff enough.
Thank you, everyone.

Sadly, our mum passed away mid-March 2017. Mum was in the Tendring care home nearly 2 years. Over that time, nothing was too much trouble. All care and cleaning staff were really lovely and kind to our mum and us (me and my 2 sisters).
So a very big thank you to all staff at Tendring care home. Thank
you all very much.

My mother was being cared for at Tendring Rest Home from December 2012 until her dementia deteriorated that she needed to be moved to a nursing home in April 2016. In all that time the staff were very caring and all her needs were catered for. In her final months there, she was looked after with great
sensitivity at all times. The home put a great deal of effort into providing activities and entertainment for the residents. At all times I was made to feel very welcome when I visited.

I love how welcoming it feels when you walk in. All of the staff are so lovely and helpful if my nan needs it. It's always clean and my nan is clean an wearing clean clothes.
We have stayed for lunch before and the food was really nice. They are always happy for us to stay for lunch and the staff are
lovely to my mum when we've seen them with her.

My stay was for 10 nights while my daughter and son-in-law had a holiday abroad. I have received excellent care, all the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much bother if I have asked for anything. I felt my room needed an extra chair for visitors, who has to sit on the bed. My TV remote did
not work and I found the TV to be too small to watch for people with poor sight. I did however enjoy my stay, and would happily return for another visit.

From the warm friendly welcome to the care and compassion given to, first my father and then ourselves, I cannot praise the staff highly enough. A home from home with people that care about what they do and those they look after. Any thoughts that my father would not be happy and relaxed were quickly
dispelled. A wonderful, friendly and calming home where needs are put first. It was not only dad that could relax from the moment he arrived. Highly recommended.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.507)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.507) out of 10 for Tendring Care Homes Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.607 for Tendring Care Homes Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 117 Ratings = 4.607
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tendring Care Homes Ltd is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
