I cannot thank the staff enough for the kindness, patience and genuine care they have shown my dad. Living with dementia brings many challenges, but the team have always treated him with dignity, compassion and understanding. From the moment he arrived, they made every effort to make him feel safe,
comfortable and valued. The staff take time to know him as a person; preferences, history, and personality, which has made a difference to his wellbeing. Communication, professionalism, and support shown to my dad and my family mean more than words can say. I would definitely recommend Auburn Mere.
Reply from Lucy Raine, Manager at Auburn MereThank you for your review and support.

We are always pleased to hear thoughts and feedback from our families at Auburn Mere.

My Mum has been at Auburn Mere for a few years now and she absolutely loves it. She is constantly telling us about how good the staff are to her and she enjoys the activities on offer to the full. This May was her 90th birthday and the staff gave us the use of the orangery - a beautiful, bright room
with an outdoor terrace attached, so that the whole family could attend her party. They provided food and drink and made the room look very festive. Mum had a lovely time and it was wonderful that we could all celebrate together. I can't thank them enough.
Reply from Lucy Raine, Manager at Auburn MereThank you so much for your lovely review , we are glad mum and all her family enjoyed celebrating the special birthday.
I will pass your thanks to all the staff at Auburn Mere.

Mum moved to Auburn Mere at the end of March after having attended as a day resident every Friday for the previous 18 months. Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2020 and we had kept her in her own home with carers for as long as we felt Mum was safe. We viewed many residential care homes to select
the right one for Mum for when she required more care and have been delighted with her transition to residential care. The team were really supportive before Mum moved, and couldn't have been more helpful on the actual day Mum moved in. It is such a lovely care home and feels more like a big homely house, rather than a care home, and all the staff are so friendly, cheerful and smiley. It is never easy having to move your Mum to a care home however all the team at Auburn Mere have made the move as easy as it could possibly be. We pop and see Mum whenever we want and nothing is too much trouble. Mum seems to have settled better than we could ever have hoped.
Reply from Lucy Raine, Registered manager at Auburn MereThank you so much for your review Sue , we are so pleased that Mum has settled in well , I know it hasn't been an easy decision for your family.

I will share your kinds words and the review with the staff team.

Thanks again

My mother has been a resident at Auburn Mere for over 2 years and each day appears to be a new adventure.
Whatever time of day I visit, there is always a morning (10:00hrs) and afternoon (14:15hrs) activity to interest residents.
Care home staff are always approachable and caring and have become
family friends.
I could not wish for a a better residential home for my 96 year old mother who continues to flourish in this well run staff friendly environment.

My mum has been in Auburn Mere for just over a year. She did not want to go there. She has been so well looked after by every member of staff and has actually settled in. My mum was on antidepressants for years they definately did not work. Within weeks they identified that they were no working and
changed them. My mum has completely changed she is more like the person she was. I cannot speak highly enough of the home.

We moved Mum to Auburn Mere in January 2025 and have been very impressed with the staff in particular, but also the management of the home and the facilities and activities provided. Particular praise though for the staff. From linked care, through admin, catering and cleaning specialists, the people
at Auburn Mere make this residential care home special.
We would warmly recommend Auburn Mere to anyone needing family or friends to be within such a caring, well-managed, residential care home.

Exceptional care and friendliness by all of the care home staff. It is a very safe environment to live in. Residents' health is looked after, especially as the care home staff are able to call on the doctors promptly, which is a huge reassurance for the relatives. The daily activities keep the residents
happily occupied and social with each other. A very lovely home.

Christmas arrangements for my aunt were amazing. She is looked after with care and dignity and the staff always have her best interests at heart. A member of staff washed and styled her hair ready for the Christmas party which was even better than last year, the entertainment and the food prepared were
wonderful. Wishing all the staff a happy new year.

My elderly mother moved into Auburn Mere, two months ago, after losing my father.
I can not recommend them highly enough, words can not do justice as to how wonderful they have been with Mum. Every single staff member is so incredibly caring and takes time out of their busy days to keep all residents
happy.
Their activities are brilliant, always twice a day, which has been a great way for Mum to make new friends and keep her busy.
Mum tells everyone that she can't believe how lucky she's been to get a room at Auburn Mere. I didn't think I'd ever see Mum happy again, as they'd been married for 68 years, but she is genuinely content and that is due to the wonderful support she is getting.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Mum has been lovingly cared for and treated with the utmost respect and empathy from the moment she arrived 2.5 years ago. She cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the facilities, and of how content she is in Auburn Mere. She enthuses particularly about the catering, the views from her bedroom
and the beautifully kept gardens and grounds. Mum is not able to take part in many of the activities but she appreciates the joyful atmosphere. The staff speak of Mum with personal insight; it's clear that they relate to her as a friend, not a client. The senior staff keep us promptly and well informed of changes in Mum's health, and always make us welcome when we visit. The monthly newsletters keep us up-to-date with the range of activities and the comings and goings and portray what we see we visit: a happy and well-cared-for community. The senior staff's management of outbreaks of Covid, and their communication with families in those difficult times, have been exemplary.

My mother is living with dementia and can be quite challenging to support. The care they give to her is wonderful, they get to understand the residents and what additional help they need. My mum is well looked after, enjoys the food (she was and still is, very fussy) and is kept clean and safe. What
more could I ask for?

The staff are all very caring and they organise activities for the residents most days of the week. The management is always available to sort out any queries or provide information. Mum has settled in very well and enjoys being at the home. The food is very good and is prepared on the premises. The

I always find the staff very welcoming and know me by my Christian name which is nice. The care home is inviting and has a happy environment. It is clean and the residents have nice fresh bedding and room facilities. Nothing is too much and I am never afraid to ask. The gardens are lovely and always
look so pretty. The patience of the staff is incredible and they do give time to all the residents.
I have recommended Auburn Mere to many people.

Our mum has lived at Auburn Mere since June 2022. She is now 94 and decided to become a resident when her mobility decreased and she realised that she could no longer live alone. She chose Auburn Mere because she used to visit her best friend who was a happy resident there and it always had a lovely
atmosphere. Mum was very independent so it was difficult for her to make the decision but she settled very quickly and 18 months later, she is happy and content. The staff (many of whom have been there for years) are lovely and because it is quite a small home it feels very personal and like a big family. Family and friends are welcome to visit at any time and we have come to know many of the carers and other residents. We are so grateful that Mum is there and we don’t have to worry about her care.

Staff are kind, caring and smiling and make a point of addressing residents by name around the home, and of quickly reassuring them when they are anxious or upset. It is lovely for the residents that familiar staff cover nights and weekends.
There is a good range of activities run by a very experienced
and kind activities leader Monday to Friday. Knitting Club is a particularly popular and relaxing/ therapeutic activity which is enjoyed by several of the residents. A recently appointed weekend activities leader is a lovely new addition to the staff.
The atmosphere around the home is calm and pleasant and the bedrooms and communal areas are kept very clean and tidy.
The residents look forward to their meals which are served in an attractive dining room.
Many of the staff have worked at the home for many years which builds a sense of confidence in the residents and their families.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.575)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.575) out of 10 for Auburn Mere is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.825 for Auburn Mere is calculated as follows: ( (100 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.825
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Auburn Mere is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 10 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
