I am so pleased with the help that my husband is getting, everyone is so caring and kind. He has a lovely room overlooking the garden which is beautifully kept and I am made really welcome when I arrive especially as I am disabled myself. I am amazed that I am getting free meals, so that I don't have to cook when I come home and I can have a good night's sleep when I know that he is being well looked after. Also, I brought in a DVD with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and watched it in the cinema and had hot popcorn.

There were many aspects of my stay that were excellent. All of the staff were helpful, warm and caring, in particular, a senior carer with his cheerful disposition, and head cook for whom nothing was too much trouble. Her cooking was absolutely superb and she was wonderful in assisting me with cutting up food.
The assistant manager was both sympathetic and empathetic. One of the night staff was very kind and humane and an excellent conversationalist.
A few negatives, I feel that the home is understaffed, particularly at night, with only two carers on duty for twenty-four residents. If I rang my bell, I had to wait a long time for somebody to come. The bed was too low and the light too dim to read by.

To end on a positive note, it was lovely to have my bed changed every day. Also, the room and other facilities were spotlessly clean.

My dad has been living at Clare Lodge for just over two years. My mum had passed away and he had developed early onset Alzheimers and was not looking after himself. We found Clare Lodge and have not looked back. The home is perfect for him and the staff are lovely and very caring to all residents. He loves the food and is extremely happy. Clare Lodge arranged regular activities including trips our which he makes the most of. I highly recommend Clare Lodge. As my dad says "I am fed and well looked after what more could I ask for". Thank you to the staff of Clare Lodge for helping improve his quality of life.

My mother has just moved to Clare Lodge, St Albans from another care home.

Her demeanour, mobility, cleanliness has improved far beyond our expectations. She interacts more and is always smiling. The care she now receives is excellent calm, clean and a happy atmosphere. Always attentive activities most days. The food is amazing and I cannot praise the manager and staff enough.

As a family, we have been delighted with Clare Lodge. Our mum is so well loved and looked after and we feel very comfortable here. Anyone can visit anytime and the staff are all outstanding.

Personally, I found it hard to let go of being my mother in law's main carer and the staff have been very accommodating with me.

We thank you from all of our hearts. Outstanding.

My husband has only been in Clare Lodge for a few weeks, but I find the staff to be helpful and kind and this is helping him to settle down in this new environment. His room is very pleasant and he is able to move around freely.

Clare Lodge is a welcoming place, which always has staff around and things going on. My mother, who really didn't want to go into a home, enjoys it there, and has been happier there than for the previous decade. She also likes the freedom to go to her room, or one of the living areas or outside at she wishes.

Her health has been much better and she has only been ill once. Staff are friendly and communicate well. The only reservation is that she doesn't wash enough, but she mostly refuses, and they don't feel they can make/persuade her.

This is a small friendly residential home with kind and caring staff. We have generally been pleased with the amount of care shown to my mother, the responses to her needs and the attempts made to include her in communal activities.

Gina EdwardsJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2021

Gina worked in retail management before starting her career in social care, as a Care Assistant, in 1998. She decided to pursue a career in a field that she felt had a purpose, and was more meaningful, so far as to make a positive difference in the lives of older people. During these years Gina qualified as a trainer, which fast became her primary role within the care home setting; supporting staff to provide best practices and excellence in care standards. This cultivated her promotion to Deputy Manager - a position that she held for 10 years before joining B&M Care in August 2021 as Home Manager of Clare Lodge.
