Ryeview Manor Care Home

from Mike C (Son of Resident) published on 12 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Dad stayed at Ryeview for 4 years and during that time I got to know the staff and facilities very well. I cannot speak highly enough of the care that my Dad received during his stay. It seemed to me that all members of staff from cleaners, to receptionists, to carers and managers were all naturally
skilled at looking after the best interests of their residents. It is a peaceful location with access to gardens if you are on the ground-floor. Regrettably my Dad passed away recently and I stayed with him at the home during his last days. The care he received during this difficult period was exemplary and I was moved by the number of staff who went out of their way to help him. A genuinely caring home.
Reply from Nina Szmigielska, Home Manager at Ryeview Manor Care HomeDear Mike,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your kind words about Ryeview Manor and the care your Dad received.
I am truly sorry for your loss, and I hope you are doing as well as can be expected during this difficult time.
It means a great deal to all of us to hear that your Dad was well cared for during his four years with us, and especially during his final days. Your feedback will be shared with the whole team - they will be deeply touched to know that their compassion and dedication made a difference to both your Dad and your family.
Thank you again for your thoughtful message. Please know that it has been a privilege to care for your Dad, and we wish you and your family comfort and strength.
Kind regards,
Nina

Mum was not able to look after herself at home, but in the care home she has received great care. The care home has all mod cons, is always clean and tidy. The staff are all very professional and friendly, and take great care of mum. She receives great food, plenty of cups of tea, and has plenty
of people to chat to.

It was the right decision to place her in a home, and the right home for her.

The facilities at DL are brand new and the staff very friendly. My sister has multiple
problems which increase as her dementia progresses and mobility reduces. The care provided to help her cope is excellent, and the carers manage her brilliantly. The activities organised are fun and varied - flower arranging this morning, a national day last time I was over. And the food is good - my sister's put on 5+kgs since her arrival! I live abroad and visit every 3/4 months but it's very reassuring to know that my sister is in excellent caring hands. Even today as paramedics were called in for a fall, they left saying that Dalton Lodge was the nicest carehome they'd visited in the area. A big thanks to everyone at Dalton for making my sister's life as pleasant as possible

Both of my parents are now residents of Chesham Bois Manor, and I can't begin to explain how much better everyone's quality of life has become - theirs and ours! The staff are all so kind and knowledgeable, my mind is so at ease. They really treat residents so well, and I feel so welcome there when
I visit. My mum and dad hadn't seen each other properly for a month, and the staff coordinated a reunion which brought a tear to everyone's eye!! I've had such detailed updates on how they are both getting on. Thank you all so much.

The building has been newly decorated and to a lovely standard so this really helped settle mum and give our family comfort in her care and her surroundings. All staff have been lovely and are helping mum in all her needs. A very big thank you personally to Rachel, Esher and Jo who have been a massive
help for me and have released a huge weight from me personally with their love, care and understanding. Thank you ladies you've been a breath of fresh air

My mother has been in Osbourne Court since May 2024. The service provided is outstanding, mum loves living at Osbourne Court. I feel happy knowing mum is living there as she is safe and well looked after. The manager and staff are brilliant and always there to answer any questions. I couldn't ask for
a better home for my mum to live in.

The staff at the Radley Care Home are truly wonderful, and I cannot praise them highly enough. They show genuine kindness, patience, and attention to every resident, always going above and beyond to ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and valued. The care and compassion my mother receives gives our

Hillview are amazing! My mum moved here in September 2025 with a reluctance to move from her home and area. But from her initial meeting with the staff she is living her best life after a tough few years. The settling in period was managed very well and she was made to feel so welcome.

I cannot fault

the staff, they treat my mum like she is family and continue to keep her independent. Everyone is friendly and attentive when I have any questions and they always have the time to help.

Thank you Hillview for providing a safe home for my mum.

Reply from Tracy Schrock, Home Manager at Hillview Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write a review. You're right, mum has settled so well and it feels as if she has been here a lot longer then 4 months. We are so pleased that you are happy with our home. Mum has now celebrated her 100th birthday at Osbourne Court. We had a large family gathering, and we were able to use the newly refurbished lounge for ourselves. Mum had a great time, and all the family felt welcome. She has settled in well. I take her out in her wheelchair, when the weather allows,
around the town. She likes to have company and will mostly join in the activities.

St Matthews Care Home

from Kerry W (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum has now been living at St Matthews for one year. Initially we arranged for her to stay on a respite only basis following a number of falls at home and a brief stay in hospital. However, it soon became apparent that Mum was so much better off in the care home, even though she would have preferred
to stay in her own home if that were possible.
From the moment we walked in and got such a lovely warm welcome from Susie on the reception desk, I felt such a huge sense of relief. I can't fault the care Mum has received in Meadows and without exception each of the staff have been absolutely brilliant. They are so very kind, patient and empathetic to each of the residents. The home is kept spotlessly clean and the staff do everything they can to engage and stimulate the residents with various activities, should they wish to join in. Mum prefers to stay in her room and not socialise much but loves the trips out and the poetry events. I can't recommend St Matthews highly enough.
Reply from Angela Hunt, Marketing Manager at St Matthews Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your mother's journey with us over the past year. We know how difficult the transition from home to residential care can be, so hearing that you felt a 'huge sense of relief' from day one means the world to us.
I will be sure to pass your praise along to Susie and the entire team in Meadows-they truly care for our residents like family, and they will be delighted to know their patience and empathy haven't gone unnoticed. It's also lovely to hear that your Mum is enjoying the poetry events and our trips out!
Thank you for recommending St Matthews so highly. It is a privilege to care for your mother.

My father was moved to Osbourne Court earlier in 2025, due to his previous care home being inadequate to his needs. I feel our family was gaslighted by the previous care home, making my father out to be the problem, when in actual fact it was the Home who kept him imprisoned in his room and not prepared
to help him back onto his feet. Osbourne Court on the other hand gave him a massive welcome, put their metaphorical arms around him and got him back on his feet on his very first day. He has flourished and his mental and physical health has settled. All of the personnel have kindness and care at the heart of their work and my father said only a few days ago - "everyone is lovely here"

My review is still the same as past reviews, which is good as it means St Josephs continues to be excellent in my eyes. The new and ongoing refurbishment has been great with some fantastic added touches, especially in Kingfisher. I first became involved when my mum became a resident. Soon after that
I started to volunteer and began to feel part of a wonderful professional and genuinely caring team. I've been a volunteer for just over five years now. Sadly mum passed away after five happy years at St Josephs and I could have stopped volunteering. I wouldn't, however, still be doing it if I didn't enjoy time with the residents and staff valuing all they do.

As a frequent visitor to the care home the staff are welcoming and friendly. The home is very clean the residents are always supported by the staff. The room where my friend is a resident its very clean and decorated in a calm and pleasant to the eyes. Interacting with the residents during their chair
exercises some will talk to me while often just sit.
I also stay during the lunch period the resident enjoy their meal and was served in caring and pleasant way.
The care for dementia residents and support they received from staff are caring and very understanding to their needs.

My aunt has been resident at The Lodge in excess of 2 years. I have such confidence in the care my aunt receives that I am not anxious or worried if I am unable to visit frequently. My aunt can be difficult to deal with yet all members of staff, kitchen staff and cleaners included, sympathetically and
cheerfully manage to calm her.
The staff all appear to be well informed of my aunt's history. I feel they are genuinely interested. Housekeeping and cleanliness is also to a good standard.
