Tara's Retreat Care Home

from Naomi P (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My Dad became a resident at Tara's in 2023. He lived in "Meadows" initially which is bright and homely with plenty of activities and atmosphere.

He has since moved down to "Hillview" as he requires more personal care. He is always brought into the lounge now so he can be with

other residents. He looks forward to his food and clears his plate - he has always had a good appetite and this hasn't changed.

The home is clean and tidy. We did have a temporary issue with the cleanliness of his room which was addressed with management and resolved - he had new flooring put in his room and regular checks mean that his needs are met. I have given a 5 star review for cleanliness as the home is clean - the main challenges are when a resident's needs change which I believe is the case with my Dad.

Reply from Karen Langley, Home Manager at Tara's Retreat Care HomeThank you for your review.
We are happy to hear we resolved the issues with cleanliness and that dad enjoys his meals.

St Lauras Care Home

from Steven P (Son of Resident) published on 15 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
In November 2021, Mum & Dad arrived at St Laura's. Eme and her team went out of their way to make them welcome and help them both settle in. They provided 2 rooms, one was the bedroom and the other was their quiet seating area.
We have always felt included in their lives at St Laura's and the wide
range of activities. The menu has always been very varied, even though 'sausage Saturday' has been a mainstay.
As mum's dementia progressed, her level of care adapted as required. She passed a year ago and the staff supported Dad and the family with sensitivity and love, even hosting the reception at St Laura's.
As with any care home, staff come and go and I am pleased to see that Eme leads a team who consistently demonstrate a high level of care and professionalism.
I heartily recommend St Laura's. It demonstrates excellent value for money, a warm caring environment and an excellent home for Dad, who is 97.
Reply from Eme Cameron, Home Manager at St Lauras Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a lovely review. It was an honour to be entrusted with the care of your mum and dad, and we are sincerely grateful for the confidence you placed in us when they moved. We will also remember your dear late Mum, we now focus on Dad and letting him shine. Your ongoing support of our home and our team is appreciated more than you know. We are so glad to have met you, and we remain committed to walking this journey alongside you and your family.

My mother is always well cared for, clean and well dressed. The carers have a very good, personal, rapport with both mum and my wife and I. I am always kept informed of any information relating to my mothers care and am consulted when decisions need to be made. The social media group is often updated
showing all the activities that the residents have been involved in. Her room is clear and tidy and clothes are clean. The staff here are friendly and very helpful. Mum is happy here.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was a resident at St Andrews for the last four years. During this time I have nothing but praise for the way she was cared for. She wasn't always the easiest of residents to look after but was always managed with care and respect. Latterly she needed end of life care which was delivered with
the same high standard of care and respect. I would add that the staff were very supportive to myself and my family at this sad time. I would have no hesitation in recommending St Andrews Care Home. Thank you to all the staff.
Reply from Juline Thomas-Dixon, Home Manager at St Andrews Care HomeHi Anne, your mum was a lovely lady with lovely family and it was a pleasure looking after her. We have missed having both her and you as a family and would like to once again extend our deepest condolences to your and your family and to remind you that you will always be a part of the St Andrews family.
Warm regards.

My Father arrived only three days ago from another care home where he could not settle. He was instantly comfortable in his new room and able to express how nice it is. Everyone, both staff and residents were welcoming and we both enjoyed having a delicious lunch with them all.
We had a relaxing afternoon
exploring and found a great lounge to enjoy an old movie sitting on the sofa together just like we'd do at home.
I can not adequately express how reassuring these first few days have been. He is a change man and so much happier. We thank you all.
Reply from Rachel Wickens, Home Manager at The Radley Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review. It means a great deal to know that he feels at home in his bedroom and that both you and your Father experienced a warm welcome and a delicious lunch. We are especially pleased that you are able to spend quality time together, exploring the home and relaxing in one of our lounges. Your kind words are greatly appreciated by the whole team. I am extremely pleased and impressed with all the care that my husband is receiving and feel that this has helped him enormously to settle into his new environment. I, my family and friends all enjoy our visits to my husband and I would add my 2 sons and 4 grandsons enjoy seeing him too.

I am very impressed with everything about St Leonards. There is a lovely, family atmosphere and a very stable caring staff who treat the residents with loving respect. Family are welcome at any time. The manager sets an excellent example approachable and taking an active interest in all the residents.
They are very responsive to him and his care for them as individuals. Although I wish I could manage my husband at home (he has advanced dementia) this is the next best arrangement for us both, I'm grateful he's in St Leonards.
Reply from Martin Sharp, Manager at St Leonards Care HomeThank you for the lovely review. It's an absolute pleasure having your husband here and having you as part of the St Leonards family.

MY Aunt is very happy and comfortable at The Chadwick, staff are wonderful and helpful with all situations. The home is always clean and there is a friendly, welcoming vibe every time we visit. They also lay on lovely social events (Christmas etc) which have been a wonderful experience for residents,
family and friends. Thank you for looking after my Aunt so we'll.

Mum and Dad have been in Hillview care home for two years now and I am assured that my sisters and I made the right choice. The staff are able to support them and their different needs on a daily basis. There is a genuine desire to engage them in activities that are stimulating and enjoyable.
Every
member of staff that interacts with them does so with care, compassion and humour! The staff are always available and open to discuss their progress.
Thank you to all the staff for caring for our parents and giving us peace of mind. I would highly recommend Hillview.

Hillview Care Home

My Mum moved in to Hillview at the beginning of February following a stay in hospital where she lost a lot of mobility and strength. I knew Hillview would be the right place for her following my visit as I was greeted by friendly helpful staff with a homely feel. I was right as Mum quickly settled in
with the help and reassurance not only to her but also to myself. The staff encourage her to keep her independence and as far as possible make it like her home. Her health improved quickly. Nothing is too much trouble in helping her with all aspects of living in the home and I would like to thank ALL the staff for encouraging her and making her feel welcomed and always being on hand to help her and me. She has been enjoying the food and has her appetite back. She has said to me that she never thought she would settle in a home and is surprised that she has and as a result I have seen an improvement in her mental wellbeing. I would like to thank the staff for all their care
Reply from Tracy Schrock, Home Manager at Hillview Care HomeThank you very much for writing us such a positive review. You're right, mum has settled so well in such a short period of time. We are so happy you both chose Hillview. Thank you once again.

My Mum was a resident at St Matthews for 7 years, gradually moving through the different units as her dementia worsened and her care needs increased. She consistently praised the staff for their caring approach, enjoyed the varied activities on offer and the friendliness of both staff and other residents.
She was happy, content and very well looked after during her time there. I can't thank the staff enough for their care and compassion from her initial welcome into the home, right through to her end of life care prior her recent passing. I'm so pleased we found St Matthews for her later years.
Reply from Manpreet Kaur, Home Manager at St Matthews Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We are so pleased your mum felt happy and well cared with us. I will share this team.

We would like to express our thanks to the entire team at The Lodge for the care, dignity and attention they have given to Joan, who has not always been the easiest woman to deal with. Special thanks to Lisa, Jo, Leah, Kylie, Chloe, Cathy, Nova, Elaine & Kelly who have shown such positivity, support
and kindness throughout the 2 years that Joan has been a resident. On our many visits to The Lodge we were always welcomed with a smile and, as a family, we have received regular updates to keep us informed on all aspects of Joan's well being.. The care workers (too many to name) and kitchen staff also deserve our thanks for making Joan's stay as homely and warm as possible. It has been a lovely place for her to spend the final years of her life.
Reply from Lisa Pinner, Home Manager at The Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your review. We're delighted that you were happy with the service we provided. Your kind words mean a lot to us, and we'll make sure the team sees them. We really do appreciate it

The Radley Care Home is an amazing place. Rachel and all the staff go above and beyond. My mum was very well looked after and cared for on her 3 week restbite and I will have no hesitation using them again and hopefully in later years having my mum there on a full time basis. Thank you everyone (p.s
food could be a little better!)

My mum moved in January and was very upset at the move however the staff have been so kind to her to help her settle in. The laughter, care and compassion have shone through. I felt safe leaving my mum. She is in a routine now which is great. She loves going out with the activity coordinator. She loves
having her nails painted by the care staff. These little details matter. I feel the staff have been very kind and welcoming to us as a family too.
