In the end timing and room availability didn't align for us to move our Mum to St Joseph's but I wanted to write a review in any event as our experience as a prospective family moving a loved one to St Joseph's was so positive. From the first call, we felt all the staff were supporting the whole family
at this difficult time. Staff gave their time freely to talk to us and show us around. It was very clear how well they all knew the residents and that there is real strength in the depth of their professional training and experience with people living with dementia. We were touched by the amount of questions asked about Mum - they really wanted to get to know all about her. There was no hard sell or pressure for us to make a decision. We would certainly suggest to her families in our situation that they visit St Joseph's themselves.
Reply from Emma Pead, Manager at St Josephs Care HomeDear Taryn, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a kind and thoughtful review. It truly means a lot to us, especially during what we know can be a very emotional and difficult time for families. Although we're sorry the timing and room availability didn't work out for your Mum to join us, we're really pleased that your experience with St Joseph's was such a positive one. Our team always strives to support not just our residents, but their whole family, and it's lovely to hear that this came across. We wish you and your Mum all the very best, and please don't hesitate to reach out in the future if we can help. Kind Regards Emma

My mum has been in Willowthorpe since November 2024. I did a lot of research before choosing Willowthorpe for her and it was absolutely the right choice. The home is exactly that, a home for the residents and the carers and staff are excellent. I haven't noticed any turnover of staff and there is a
clear friendship and warmth amongst them all. Willowthorpe is extremely well run and the staff all treat my mum and the other residents with affection and kindness like they are their own family. It really is reassuring to know that she is genuinely cared for and looked after. There are lovely gardens overlooking the river with plenty of seating and numerous smaller courtyards dotted around. She doesn't eat much but the meals are home cooked, good quality and nicely presented. Mum is safe, loved and very well cared for.

From the absolute beginning of my mums journey at Taras, she has been looked after above and beyond expectations! Mum now has severe dementia but remains quite physically fit, with her weakness being her chest/ lungs. My sister and I have been called to hospital on two occasions, to be told that mum
would not live - we both knew that if we could just get her back to Taras she'd be okay! We were told by doctors that mum had forgotten how to swallow, which we thankfully knew not to be true as we went in to give her yoghurts/ sips of water etc whilst at hospital! On the evening she got 'home' to Taras- she independently ate a huge meal, followed by lovingly prepared extra desserts! She was sent back under 'End of Life' care, which thankfully neither we or Taras agreed was the case. We are now about two years on and mum is extremely happy and alive!!! Taras have put in place every possible asthma/ breathing help- first spotting signs of a chest infection etc. Taras is beyond amazing!

Thank you Tara's for helping to look after Mum. We are grateful she is in a small quiet unit. We must remember nothing is perfect but Mum is content. The staff are amazing. Some are just unbelievably kind and generous with their time. You are always made to feel welcome and if things are not quite right
there is always a member of staff or management available to listen.
Thank you to every single member of staff for all your support.
