Over all time St Matthews Care Home has 90 reviews.
The care she received in St Matthew's was outstanding, the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful , nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent and very nutritious, I couldn't recommend a care home more highly.
It's fantastic to have such peace of mind that your loved one is safe and nurtured.
Thank you so much for kind words, we will definitely share with team, we are happy to hear that mum felt safe and well care during her stay at St Matthews. It was pleasure to care for your mum.
My Mum was a resident at St Matthews for 7 years, gradually moving through the different units as her dementia worsened and her care needs increased. She consistently praised the staff for their caring approach, enjoyed the varied activities on offer and the friendliness of both staff and other residents. She was happy, content and very well looked after during her time there. I can't thank the staff enough for their care and compassion from her initial welcome into the home, right through to her end of life care prior her recent passing. I'm so pleased we found St Matthews for her later years.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We are so pleased your mum felt happy and well cared with us. I will share this team.
From the moment we walked in and got such a lovely warm welcome from Susie on the reception desk, I felt such a huge sense of relief. I can't fault the care Mum has received in Meadows and without exception each of the staff have been absolutely brilliant. They are so very kind, patient and empathetic to each of the residents. The home is kept spotlessly clean and the staff do everything they can to engage and stimulate the residents with various activities, should they wish to join in. Mum prefers to stay in her room and not socialise much but loves the trips out and the poetry events. I can't recommend St Matthews highly enough.
I will be sure to pass your...
I am over 90 years of age though fairly mobile. I've been at St Matthew's for about 18 months. The building is modern and airy and has good communal facilities. It is kept spotlessly clean. My room is comfortable with en-suite facilities which I can use without difficulty. Looking outside I see trees, grass and well-tended flower beds. Our caring multi-national staff are very professional and pay regard to our individual needs, not least our mobility. We socialise with an imaginative range of well led activities both within and outside the home. For example, we had a lovely summer party in the garden, well attended by residents and families. On matters relating to our lives here, we have the opportunity to express our views and choices to management both in residents' meetings and less formally. As will be seen in my star rating, on the matter of food I think we have been less successful even with a new kitchen. It's sometimes not cooked well. I'm happy here. It's my home
It's a pleasure having you here at St Matthews. Thank you for your feedback.
It was a big change going from living independently to living here, but the staff and other residents all made her feel very welcome. She really liked her own company but chose to take part in some of the many activities organised and always enjoyed herself.
The home is a calm and welcoming place and as family members we were always made to feel welcome.
I would highly recommend St Matthews to anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.
Thank you for all you did for her.
Thank you so much for your kind review. This will be shared with all at St Matthews.
Our Mum has been a member of St Matthew's Community for a year and is very settled. She tells us, "it's lovely here" and "the staff work so hard". Everyone always makes my brother, sister, and I feel very welcome, and we feel reassured to know our Mum is in such good hands.
Thank you so much for your feedback. This will be shared with the team.
I am always impressed when I visit my mum by how well she is looked after and how content she is. Staff are friendly and speak to all residents with kindness and respect. It is a comfort to me and my siblings that my mum is so well cared for.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback, this will be shared with all the team.
Dad was a resident in Saint Matthews for a few months until his passing. In this time the staff were nothing less than amazing, such obvious care and support, especially as dad was not the easiest person to care for. The home is light and airy and very clean. It has a sense of home. Our main points of contact were a member of the admin team, a senior nurse and Dad's named nurse. All three have a special place in my heart for the care and compassion they showed every day. And that extended to the family, not just Dad. Thank you to all the staff at Saint Matthews, your kindness and care will never be forgotten.
Thank you for such lovely feedback, this will be shared with all the staff.
We tried my 89 year old mum out on a four week respite contract to see if she would potentially fit into the home on a permanent basis and this week she has just signed her permanent contract! The staff on Meadows have been tremendous, so caring and kind (especially when there was a sickness bug going around) and she has settled in really well thanks to all the team at St Matthews. In her words - 'I'm so happy and loving it!' Activities team keep her busy and its been so reassuring for all the family knowing she is in a safe and happy place. A huge thank you to all the team at St Matthews!
Thank you for such a lovely review. This will be shared with all at St Matthew's.
My Dad was a resident at St Matthews for 4 months overall and the staff were absolutely wonderful with him during his stay. He wasn't the easiest person to deal with and I imagine that he tested the patience of everyone on a regular basis but he was always treated with dignity and respect. I will be forever grateful that St Matthews made his last days comfortable and safe, the home is warm, clean and bright and full of interaction if so desired otherwise residents can just be left quietly to do their own thing. I do so wish that we could name individual staff as there were 3 particularly wonderful ladies there who will be forever in our hearts - thank you xxxxx
Thank you so much for your kind words! Dad will be missed by all. This feedback will be shared with all staff.
My friend has been a resident at Matthews since September last year. She did struggle initially with the transition. The staff have been paramat to her settling in and feeling alot happier with the move. Not only that, it has also been a trying time for family and friends of which all staff at St Matthew's have been so supportive, kind and friendly which has helped enormously.
Thank you so much for your kind review, this will be shared with all the staff at St Matthew's.
The carers, headed by one member of staff in particular, were all so kind and patient. They were also incredibly supportive to us all which meant a lot.
The residents had a super entertainment team who took them out on trips, had musical afternoons and family events in the grounds.
Sadly, my dad passed away after Christmas at the age of 95. But I know he had a fantastic year at St Matthew's.
Thank you to everyone. You helped us all.
Thank you so much for a lovely review. From all at St Matthews.
The resident who was a close friend had been at St Matthews Care Home for about 2 and half years. During that time she had been happy and as comfortable as she could be. She has vascular dementia and fairly severe mobility problems. However, her health declined not unexpectedly and during her last few weeks, she was able to remain at the home. The care she was offered was excellent and she remained peaceful and comfortable until about four days before she died. I was able to visit as often as I liked and felt supported and cared for in turn. Community nurses were also involved in her care as well as a nurse from a local hospice. Many thanks to the care home for helping to make her last few weeks and years as positive and gentle as possible.
Thank you for your kind review from all at St Matthews.
His care has been exemplary, from the friendly greeting from the reception staff to the caring staff in Willows.
Dad was very happy in the home and always greeted us with a smile. He was well cared for and was always clean and well groomed as was his bedroom and his spotless bathroom.
A very big thank you to the whole team that looked after our father. I know he enjoyed his stay.
It was a pleasure to be able to care for your Dad, from all at St Matthew's.
Mr Brother-in-law was a resident and was cared for in the Willows Unit because he had dementia and other associated health issues. The level of care was exemplary and I was confident that his needs were met by a wonderful team who got to know and love him. He felt safe and secure in his well-appointed room and although he chose not to use all of them, the activities and facilities were excellent, with a weekly programme of events (communicated to me by email), the residents kitchen where I regularly made us refreshments when I visited, and the beautiful gardens. My brother-in-law's room had direct access to a lovely patio. The staff, including those on reception, took time to get to know me as well share my brother-in-law's news and their concerns. I felt very much part of the picture.
Thank you so much for your kind review
My Nana has been at St Matthews for some time now, following a couple of initial visits for respite care. I will never forget the member of staff saying to her on her first arrival 'Welcome home Mrs---'. From that point, I knew this was a nice place! The home itself is well-kept, clean, and improvements are being made all the time. The staff though are what makes it for me. The team working on reception are so welcoming and takes an interest in me and my family - my children love to spend time with them! The key workers for the residents really do care - even if it's a bit of tough love! They're not just doing a job, they go further. The activities team go above and beyond in my opinion to give the residents a wide range of in-house and external activities and experiences to enhance their lives. I hope that when my time comes for care, I find somewhere as lovely and welcoming as St Matthews.
Thank You so much for your lovely review, from all at St Matthews
Mum has been in St Matthews for nearly three years now, her care has been excellent and she is happy in the home. The staff are great and there is plenty to occupy her during the day. I give St Matthews 10 out of 10.
Thank you for such a lovely review, from all at St Matthews.
From the moment Mum arrived at St Matthews, their palliative care was exemplary. She was treated with dignity and warmth by all those who looked after her. Nothing was too much trouble, the family were able to spend as much time with her as needed and the care for us, during a very difficult time, was also exemplary.
Thank you for a lovely review, from all at St Matthews.
My mother was quite nervous about going into the home for two weeks of respite care while I was away. Without exception, every member of staff was very understanding of Mum's feelings and went out of their way to make her feel happy and settled. Mum enjoyed everything about her stay - the food, activities and staff. The home is immaculately clean and well-maintained. Mum thoroughly enjoyed her stay and is looking forward to going in again next time I go on holiday.
Thank you for your lovely review, from all at St Matthews.
My mum has been in St Matthews for nearly 6 months now and I can't say how grateful I am to all the staff who regularly go above and beyond to look after my mum and her challenging requests! Honestly, nothing is too much trouble for them and everyone is so lovely, caring and friendly with an unlimited amount of patience. There are plenty of activities and outings and lots for residents to do. It is a really happy atmosphere and my mum is like a different person since she's been there and following the difficult time she had before going to St Matthews. It has given her a new lease of life. I really appreciate everything the hardworking staff do to keep my mum happy and I know she does too.
Thank you for such a lovely review, it's a pleasure to care for Mum, from all at St Matthew's.

I joined St Matthews Care Home in early 2026. I have had significant experience in health and social care, beginning my career in 2013 as a Care Assistant.
