Overall I am pleased with Courtland Lodge care shown and given to my husband. The staff are informative and very approachable. I am reassured when leaving him he is well cared for, clean and safe. I would happily recommend Courtlands Lodge.

Staff have tried very hard to accommodate my brothers particular needs and have been very patient to his requirments. He is comfortable and content at the moment which I expect to continue.

I have been in Courtland Lodge for 8 months as respite care with a view to going home eventually. This followed a period of 12 weeks in hospital, where I was finally diagnosed with Parkinson's.

Day care staff have been attentive and caring, night staff seem to be a bit under sourced with long waits to receive attention, never less care remains top priority.

Reply from John Joannides, Corporate Services at Courtland Lodge

Thank you for your review. We're glad that you a generally happy with the care that you have received. I have passed on your comments to the management team in the home.

I cannot recommend Courtlands Lodge enough for the wonderful care my mum gets there.
She has been at Courtlands Lodge for a year now and it's turned out the best place for mum and us as a family.
The staff are so caring and take time to get to know mum and what she likes and her life story .
The home manager Marta is lovely and always there to talk to and has just always been so kind and helpful.
Lorraine looks after mum's floor and knows everything about mum and how she's doing each day.
There are lots of activities and events which are great for families to get involved.
We can visit whenever we like and feel comfortable to spend time there with mum enjoying as much time with her as we can.
The food is very good and home cooked with good options.

With mum's dementia and her moving to Courtlands Lodge, we have peace of mind knowing she is happy and safe and very well cared for.

The food tended to be insufficiently cooked, particularly carrots and "roast" potatoes which were usually under-cooked and not roasted at all. Curry and sweet & sour sauces are present in negligible amounts, spoiling meals. More English and less fancy meals would be appreciated and possibly preferred by the older residents.

When Mum came to Courlands Lodge almost a year ago, I was worried and felt guilty, but I soon discovered what a kind, caring place it is, from the cleaners to care staff and management! Mum has settled in almost immediately. She loves the varied menu - "lovely food" she says. I am very impressed with all the fun entertainment, especially the pet therapy, Mum especially likes the little lambs! The care staff are so caring and always smiling! Thank you to all for looking after my dear mum.

My mother was admitted with dementia under Social Services priority choice in December 2023. Thus far it has proven a super choice as I have highlighted by my star choices. The care, dignity, management, efficiency, supervision, nursing, communication, and holistic environment are fantastic and difficult to surpass in my experience. Truly important is my mother's settling and overall great experience where she has gone from diminishing exponential health to gradual overall improvement including weight gain which has slowed her general decline. The home has facilitated her thriving and best experience in whatever frame of longevity remains and this has been so relieving and reassuring for me in reducing overall stress and concerns about my mother's gradual debilitating which has been slowed down and embraced with compassion and empathy in a nurturing environment.

Any staff I have dealt with have been professional and of genuine humanity.

My mum went into Courtland Lodge in 2018, with my nan following in 2020. I could never fully express the gratitude I have towards the staff at Courtland. They excelled in looking after both of my most important people. I have lost both Mum and Nan is the last nine months and the management and staff saw me through everything with so much care and compassion. The staff work hard to cater to each individual’s needs while maintaining a clean and homely environment. I would highly recommend Courtland and will be forever grateful to all staff.

A good friendly home. Staff always helpful.
A modern building which needs some minor maintenance.
Good secure garden area, supported by volunteers.
Covid procedures need to be reviewed.

This home has worked out well for my mother, settled in much better than we expected.

My wife was booked in for respite care but turned out not to be very good.

Despite being asked to do so, nobody was changing her incontinence pad enough. 5 changes in 8 days and her ankles and feet were very swollen. Nothing was done about them. I removed her after 8 days and I complained and nobody wants to know.

Mum went into Courtland Lodge Care Home on June 11th. Since that time she has made so much progress with her mental and physical health. She is now able to walk, feed herself, is talking a lot more and tells us she is very happy. She is always smiling and loves joining in all the social activities. I cannot thank all the staff enough for all the kindness and excellent care they have shown Mum and for not giving up on her. The food is very nice, home-cooked food. Our family are so pleased we found Courtland Lodge for Mum.

Mum has been very happy at Courtland Lodge. Due to the kindness of the staff, she has accepted that she needs to be in a care home. She has been introduced to suitable aids and is now more mobile than she has been for a long time. With regular food, drink and medication, Mum has got the colour back in her cheeks and is so much happier. The family is extremely grateful to all the staff.

My mother has settled in very well. She has dementia but the socialising and the stimulation provided by the carers seem to have worked wonders on her mental health, alertness and quality of life. This element of her care has exceeded our expectations. I cannot comment on or evaluate the food and drink as we have never been present at mealtimes. We are confident in the staff to protect her health and safety.

My mother came out of hospital at the end of April and was on end-of-life care when she returned to Courtland Lodge Care Home. The staff did everything they could to make Mum as comfortable as possible on her return and were very supportive to me as well. Sadly Mum passed away in May and when it was her time to leave us the staff gave me enough notice to ensure I could be with her at the end, so she knew how much I cared about her. The member of staff who I was liaising with during this time at the end did a fantastic job of making the process as comfortable for me as it could be. I was given the time I needed and reassurance my wishes were listened to and would be carried out. One of the staff even came to my mum's funeral which was so lovely. Well done team Courtland Lodge you have made a difficult time the best it could have been for both my mum and myself!

My mother has been a resident at Courtlands Lodge Care Home for four years and my family and I have been confident and happy with all the care and love shown to her by all the carers and other staff.
