I'm not impressed with the service my mother received at High View Lodge, Hemel Hempstead.
I have now moved my mother to a different care home where she is receiving a far superior level of care.
Also, I found communication with High View Lodge very bad, some days I couldn't get through on the phone
after trying over 10 times to call.

My mother has been at High View now for 14 months and previous to that she came in for respite a few times a year. I have always been pleased with everything at High View Lodge especially the respect and dignity shown to all residents but this year as we all know has been so difficult for so many people
but the Manager and staff at High View have been exceptional. Under such difficult circumstances this year they have all worked so hard and cared so much for our loved ones and kept them safe and well. The pressure that the Manager and staff have had to deal with has been tremendous but they have always been so professional and helpful at all times. High View Lodge have been amazing through this pandemic and great respect to all the staff and for being so well lead by the manager. Thank you.

I cannot commend this Care Home more highly. The manager and her dedicated team have been exemplary before and during the Pandemic. I know my mother has been well looked after and the staff have worked hard to ensure they have been kept safe. Even before the lockdown. All the staff whether carers, site
manager, cleaners or kitchen staff are dedicated to making life in High View for all the residents a pleasant and happy place. Thank you for all you have done.

Mum has been really settled and happy at High View for 3 years now. The staff are very caring to both mum and our family. Communication is very good and the management have been very proactive in protecting the residents from Covid while maintaining safe visiting conditions. The manager is a very hands-on
manager who fights for the best for each resident.

Very happy with mu experience visiting High View Lodge and observing the wonderful care I have served by staff. Very caring. Because I was unable to have visits with my friend staff very kindly arranged for a phone link to see my friend. She was happy and so was I to see her.

Mum stayed for respite after a hospital stay. The care home staff looked after her so well. She seemed happy and relaxed. I was allowed to see Mum on a pre-arranged visit in the porch area with Covid measures in place. So good as other homes wouldn't allow any sort of visit. I love that there are resident
animals in the home. Very lovely, quiet location with lovely staff and a super helpful manager. If we end up needing full-time care for Mum I would like her to go to High View Lodge.

The manager and team have been nothing short of amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and my Dad is so calm and happy and it’s so evident that he is well cared for. They have been so supportive and caring through this adjustment period with me too, can’t thank them enough.

I have been getting over two bad legs after admission to hospital a married couple from St John's Ambulance Brigade brought me here on Tuesday 4th February 2020. All staff gave treated me as a very important person. The manager and assistant manager are fantastic people and also the day centre staff
have treated me as a VIP.

High View Lodge's standard of care is exemplary, not only to residents who are partly paid for by the council but also to private residents. The standard of care by management and staff should be used as a benchmark for the whole of the UK. I'm so grateful my mother is a resident here.

I found the staff lovely but security was a big issue, my dad who has dementia managed to get out the main doors. When my dad came out he had no false teeth a lot of clothes missing and some money. I don't think for one minute it was the staff but every time I went to visit dad there was a resident
going in all the rooms taking personal belongings which I don't think is acceptable. On several occasions, I have called the home to find out if any of my dad's belongings have been found and never had a call returned.

Found the staff to be very caring, supportive and safe. Excellent management, willing to listen to family members, and take appropriate actions in a prompt manner. All carers are very friendly polite and caring. These are exceptional carers who consider and care for the residents like their own family

This home is very welcoming. The staff are excellent especially the manager and the senior staff. They treat everyone as individuals and tailor their approach fittingly.
It is very clean and the rooms are all bright and individually furnished.
My friend says that the food is good. The fact that residents
can request snacks or help themselves is excellent.
My only negative is that it can get quite hot and stuffy. Some more activities for more able residents would be good.

I went to visit someone and the staff asked who I was there to see and that person was in the Day Centre. They went and got that person and nothing was too much trouble, very polite and helpful.
Whenever I go it is always so clean and the rooms are beautiful. All the staff are very caring and are always
on hand to help.
They all take care of the residents so much. It is a real treat to go into this home. It is a loving home where you know the residents are well cared for.

My mother who is now aged 101 has always refused to have any kind of care from outside the family. However, due to unforeseen circumstances we needed respite care for two weeks and were able to take her to High View Lodge. Since then, her physical condition meant that she needed full-time care but she
would only go to High View Lodge. She is having fantastic care there and although she complains constantly (that is her nature) she is comfortable, has a lovely room and wants for nothing. Having lived independently and never being ill or in a hospital, she is finding it hard to adapt but the staff are helping her as much as they can to come to terms with her situation.

My Mum was a resident in this home for more than 8 years. In that time her quality of life was enhanced by living at High View Lodge. This was mainly due to the staff who in my opinion went over and beyond their duties to make my Mum feel happy and safe. Whenever I visited the home the staff seemed
to be smiling and jolly, not the usual smile was given to a relative visiting to look good but a genuine smile and desire to care.

I am incredibly proud to serve as the Home Manager of such a wonderful home, where our residents and staff create a warm, supportive, and joyful environment every day.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and taking long walks with my dog, which helps me unwind and recharge.
