Breton Court is set in an idyllic residential location in the village of St Michaels, just minutes away from the beautiful town of Tenterden.

A truly dedicated team provide residential care, day care and respite care for residents, with twin rooms for couples or friends wishing to share. Breton Court is small enough to offer a truly homely atmosphere and believe wholeheartedly in the motto 'your caring home from home'.

Each resident has a personal key worker, who ensures that all regulatory and personal goals are met. Each resident also has a personalised care plan, detailing all needs and likes/dislikes.

Each resident is treated as part of an extended family and professionals take the time to get to know the resident, their life story, and their families/visitors.

There are many varied activities at the home, with outings being a regular occurrence, in the minibus. The home also has delightful landscaped gardens including a wonderful pond with its own goose.

Meals are cooked fresh throughout the day by fully trained chefs, special diets are catered for and personal favourites are encouraged.

This care home is brilliant. I call it a care home but it is like a home for its residents. The management and staff are so good and caring, you cannot ask for more. They go out of their way and go that extra mile for their residents and family members. My mother-in-law was there for about 6 months
until she passed away on the 16th Dec 2023, and they made her stay memorable. Thank you for all you have done for her and the family.
Reply from Carol Spires, Manager at Breton CourtThank you for your kind words, I will pass them on to the staff.

My nan was given a place at Breton Court in June 2023. I had no experience of a care home however when I visited Nana I felt instantly welcomed by all the staff. It was very clear that the staff cared for her as if she were a member of their own family. I visited on a regular basis and built up an excellent
connection with all the staff. Coming to Breton Court became familiar to my family and never felt like a care home but more like a large family home.
Excellent cleanliness throughout. The rooms were homely and didn’t feel clinical and we were able to bring lots of her own things to make it her home.
Food was varied and even if Nana fancied something different it was never too much trouble and always accommodated her requests.
We soon became like a member of the family with all of the staff. We built up a fantastic relationship with them all, lots of tea, biscuits and laughs were shared with all.
Just want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love and care you gave her and us.
Reply from Carol Spires, Manager at Breton CourtThank you on behalf of all the staff, for all of the kind words that you and your family have written about them.

The staff at Breton Court are all so friendly, supportive and caring. They create a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and the feel of one large family. A real home from home. Dad so enjoyed the freedom to be able to wander outside into the garden whenever he wished, a place he absolutely loved to spend
a lot of his time.
Reply from Carol Spires, Manager at Breton CourtIt was our pleasure to have your dad as part of our Breton Court family. Thank you for the lovely words and taking the time to complete the review.

As a family, we have nothing but praise for the care and patience all the staff gave our father during his time at Breton Court. They took the time to get to know our dad and went out of their way to accommodate his needs. They were always great at informing us of anything relating to Dad. Always welcomed
as relatives. Thank you!
Reply from Carol Spires, Manager at Breton CourtThank you for your wonderful review. Dad was a character and always surprised us with his new gadgetry. He was a pleasure to talk with, his knowledge of sport was phenomenal. After nearly 4 years of being with us, your dad is sorely missed by the Breton Court family.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.996)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.996) out of 10 for Breton Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.996 for Breton Court is calculated as follows: ( (239 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 240 Ratings = 4.996
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Breton Court is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
