I am over 80, still healthy and active but partially sighted. Without family and living alone I was beginning to need some help and support. I needed a new chapter in my life. I looked at a number of options. Generals Meador seemed the answer. It was and it is. I have lived here now for 3 months. I have a very comfortable room with ensuite and some of my own furnishings. The management style is professional and relaxed. The staff keep this unique house sparkling clean and ensure all of the residents are well cared for in body and mind. The kitchen staff provide nourishing, well-presented meals that cater for all dietary needs. Entertainment and activities change daily and there are trips out. The very large garden is a joy and can be enjoyed by everyone including those seeking a place for quiet reflection. Friends, families and dogs are always welcome. Generals Meadow is certainly worth the cost for living in the place I call home.

This is a home in every sense of the word. A small number of residents which enables close relationships between each other and with the staff. All the team who work here are excellent. Highly professional but demonstrating true care and understanding of the specific needs, likes and dislikes of each resident.

Both Mum and I already know.how lucky she is to be here but this was re enforced recently by a visit to a friend in another larger home, part of a corporate group which had no heart and soul.

My 97-year-old father moved from his home around 200 miles away to become a resident at Generals Meadow, so that he could be closer to family. From day one, it truly felt as though he had moved into a new home rather than an institution.
We have been amazed at how well he has settled in, both physically and mentally. He now genuinely enjoys his meals, prepared by the chef, which has also helped him manage his diabetes. Previously, he was housebound and quite isolated in his own home , but now he benefits from daily social interaction with both residents and staff.
He has received excellent care and, through the home, has been able to readily access GPs, pharmacy services, and other healthcare professionals. Overall, his well-being has improved significantly.

This move has been not only important for him but also very reassuring for me, as I feel confident that he is no longer alone and is being exceptionally well cared for by the manager and the wonderful team of staff.

My mum has now been living at Generals Meadow for over a year. I knew that it would be a difficult move for a highly independent 96 year old lady; however I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness, compassion, and understanding of my mum's needs. The staff are always professional and friendly and communication is excellent. The home provides a beautiful environment and is impeccably clean and comfortable. It is reassuring to know that my mum is safe and treated with respect. Thank you.

My mother has been at Generals Meadow for 6 months and is settled in a lovely spacious and comfortable room in this beautiful, grand building. The environment is warm, inviting and has a friendly atmosphere. Visitors are welcomed with a smile by friendly and polite staff who are approachable and always happy to help.
The Christmas decorations and festivities were amazing and really helped with the initial settling in period.
Mum can spend time in her room, reading or relaxing with visitors, but also enjoys the social interaction at lunchtimes, wonderful home cooked food and afternoon activities, particularly visiting musicians.
All her personal and medical care is managed with kindness, professional trust and respect.

After Mum living alone for many years, up to the age of 90, it is a huge relief to all her family and friends to know that she is safe and well, day and night, in such a warm friendly home.

My mother has been a resident at Generals Meadow for two months now. I have been very impressed with the care she receives. The home is very attractive and spotlessly clean. The food is varied, appetising and of a very high quality. The carers are all very kind. I was particularly impressed with the efforts put in by all of the staff to make Christmas special for the residents.

My mother passed away after over 6 years in Generals Meadow. Throughout the whole term the staff were extremely attentive, caring, very sensitive to her needs - especially in the last months - and always good humoured and courteous. The home is well maintained, comfortable, warm and attractively presented.

My father in law recently moved into Generals Meadow. Everyone has been very welcoming and the care is excellent. The change in his health and well-being is remarkable, since moving in he has become more mobile, he is eating well and is more chatty. His room in this beautiful building is always warm, clean and very comfortable, it is a pleasure for family and friends to visit him in his new surroundings.

My Father has only recently become a resident at Generals Meadow, but has settled in well. The Owners and their team went out of their way to make the whole process of going into the home so much easier for Dad, also for us as a family. From then on, the whole team have demonstrated such genuine care and kindness for Dad and have also been so efficient to sort any problems from diet, hearing aids, to medications. We've seen such an improvement with Dad in the short time he has been there and the effort by all is so, so much appreciated.

My mother was in Generals Meadow for 2 years and her care was exemplary in every way you could wish for. It felt like having an 'extended family' for her and my brother and I. The end of life care they were able to give to her, and indeed their support to us, was a great comfort. I think we were lucky to have been able to secure a place for her there.

The staff and building make this such a nice place for Mum to stay - I always feel reassured she is receiving the best care possible. She always seems happy and contented and our family can feel relaxed in the knowledge she is being very well looked after. The building and gardens make for such a lovely place for Mum.

My mother has been a resident for 6 plus years at Generals Meadow, the staff care for her so well treating her with dignity and giving her time; assisting more, as needed, with her daily care, as she becomes frailer. Her health needs are regularly reviewed with the GP surgery and acted upon as required.
The staff encourage her to join in with activities when she feels able, while always respecting her wishes as she prefers to remain in her room the majority of the time. The manager sent a video when my mother joined in with a music session by a visiting musician playing and singing old songs, it was reassuring to see her joining in and singing, as I've been unable to visit her over the last.

All the staff are welcoming and have a clear understanding of my mothers wants and needs.

My 90yr old mum moved in during January 2025 something which we were all apprehensive about. But that didn't last long. All the staff made her very welcome and comfortable as did the other residents and our minds were made up that this was the right move for her. The room she has is lovely with lots of sunlight and lovely views.
Mum loves chatting with the other residents and enjoys some of the activities and outings.
She now has even started going back to church again every Sunday and the staff help her across the road to the church.

Mum is very happy here.

My mother was a long-term resident for about 7 years. During this time she was exceptionally well looked after and enjoyed her time there very much. It's important to note that her stay coincided with the COVID outbreak which Generals Meadow handled superbly including building a visiting capsule so that the residents and their visitors could safely visit each other. This brought tremendous comfort to our mother that she could see and talk to us but she was safe from the outside virus.
The owners of Generals Meadow and all of their staff are exceptional in their residents' safety, enjoyment, nutrition, medical, physical and mental care.

Finally, her end-of-life care was compassionately handled with complete professionalism for which the family are truly grateful.

My mother has now been a resident at Generals Meadow for a number of years (pre-COVID) and I cannot speak highly enough of the the caring and friendly staff, all of whom are clearly passionate and dedicated to the welfare of their residents.

My mother is now not able to go out on the small trips we used to do, so is very reliant on support from staff to help her to feel cared for.

Generals Meadow is a lovely care home where the carers and staff are always very kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has been at Generals Meadow now for nearly two years and in her own words she says it is ‘superb’. She told me ‘you cannot fault the care in any way’, so I think that says it all.
