Mum moved into Generals Meadow in August 2018. She has Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia so her needs are ever-changing and often complex.
The new owners, who are both approachable and very knowledgeable, have embarked on an extensive and impressive programme of improvements. These are being cleverly
and thoughtfully carried out so as not to detract from the beauty of the home.
Our family are in most days visiting and there is always a welcome air of calm and tranquillity. The wonderful staff, who are cheerful, caring and kind are understandably loved by Mum. Mum is happy and with the help of the staff, has come to think of Generals Meadow as her home. They nurture a family feel here.
The home is spotlessly clean and it is to the whole team’s credit that it is easy to forget you are visiting a care home. Mum speaks very highly of her lovely meals which the residents enjoy together in the very beautiful dining room.

This ensures that our service reflects what the residents, visitors and staff appreciate and expect from a residential care home. The refurbishments have done the building justice, and we will continue to enhance the home's facilities and service. Your comments will be passed onto the team of staff who are our real heroes. We are very pleased that your mother is happy and thank you for entrusting her into our care.

I have been visiting my father daily since mid-September. On every single visit, the staff have been unfailingly welcoming to me and kind and attentive to my father. They have taken trouble over his diet, hearing aid, tv. The residents have a steady varied programme of activities and all of them seem
content. Those I have asked have all said they were very happy with the home indeed. The general atmosphere is upbeat, cheerful and positive. A very friendly place.
Reply from David Johnson, Registered Manager at Generals MeadowThank you very much for the feedback about Generals Meadow.
It is an absolute pleasure and an honour to be able to care for your father who always has a smile to share with us.
All the other residents love it when your father bursts into a song during the activity sessions, which he clearly enjoys entertaining others!

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father has been in Generals Meadow for one year. He always said he would never go to a care home and was fiercely independent. An unexpected stroke left him with no choice. The care given to him has been second to none and he has made remarkable progress since admission. The staff treat all residents
with dignity and respect, they are consulted on all aspects of their care and regularly monitored for well being. There is a varied and stimulating range of activities to suit all tastes which are carefully designed to engage residents and provide them with social interaction. Staff help them if they need it as and when they ask for it. The home itself is in a beautiful setting and a very pleasant place to be. The owners have taken great care to improve and adapt the building to make it safe and secure. At the end of the day though, it's the staff that make it work. They are very caring, cheerful and helpful. This is reflected in the happy residents.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.772)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.772) out of 10 for Generals Meadow is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.922 for Generals Meadow is calculated as follows: ( (155 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 166 Ratings = 4.922
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Generals Meadow is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
