Mum has been a resident at Upton House since March 2023. After the initial 'settling in' period mum has become very settled. Mums' likes, dislikes and behaviours were quickly identified and managed by a team of dedicated staff. Upton House provides a warm, comfortable and caring environment for mum. All the staff are extremely welcoming to visitors and you are always welcomed with the offer of refreshments and lovely homemade treats. The staff communicate with the family, my concerns or issues. Entertainment is provided throughout the week and family are invited to special events such as carols and firewood displays. Overall in conclusion mum is safe 25/7, and all of her needs are met. I feel that mum is now afforded a more dignified existence. Myself and mums other family are extremely satisfied with the level of care and support. It is a home-from-home with extended family!
The care given to my mother has always been excellent. Lovely property and has plenty of staff. The rooms are nicely finished and comfortable. The food is good with dietary requirements seen too. I would recommend this home.
Since Mum started living here, I have had peace of mind knowing that she is safe and well cared for.
As I have never seen their personal rooms. I am unable to comment on this.
Within the short time Mum has been at Upton House, she seems more settled and relaxed. The overall atmosphere of warmth and friendliness adds to the safe environment offered to the clients and I would not hesitate in recommending Upton House.
Please refer to the authority's review of this care home. I removed my father from home and he has gone on to be happy and free to have contact with the outside world. Read the ongoing reviews and safeguard your loved ones.
After my auntie has spent seven years at Upton House, I can only say a great big thank you to the owners and their lovely staff! They have made it possible that my auntie felt comfortable at difficult times in her life. We were always able to visit.
Every effort has been made with the Christmas festivities and the decorations in and around the garden are lovely.
Upton House has given my mother a new lease of life.
Upton House and all the staff have been great to my mother and for my mother. All the staff that I have seen seem to have fostered a great relationship with her. Nothing ever seems too much and she seems to be having a great time.
Mum settled into her new home quickly and seems happy.
I should like to commence my appraisal of Upton House by firstly saying thank you to the management and staff. My nephew, his wife and I had the momentous task of finding a home to care for my sister. Many questions arise when making such a decision, to put a close family member into a care home. Uppermost in our thoughts comes the suitability for the person who is entering into care. What we found at Upton House was loving care for all residents, an amazing environment in which they could settle and a genuine care for their relatives. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are always very welcoming when we visit. We are able to take my sister out on short trips and she is always happy to return to her family and friends at Upton House. The staff and ambience of Upton House are first class and we could not wish for a better home for my sister. She settled and adjusted to her new situation quickly without stress.
My dad has been in Upton House for over a year and has been really well looked after by all the staff. My brother and myself have been always looked after by the staff as well. Also during the pandemic, the home have managed it very well indeed.
We were fortunate to secure a place for Dad at Upton House at short notice over a Christmas/New Year period and he has been well cared for in his time at the home and his health has improved. He has a great relationship with the staff who have come to recognise his unique sense of humour. Understandably, due to Covid health protection measures, we have been unable to see more of the home other than the conservatory and lounge. Dad tells us his room is comfortable and has everything he needs and enjoys his food. Booking visits is stress free. We are comfortable knowing that Dad is happy in a caring and safe environment.
For the whole time my mother has been a resident, we have been subject to Covid restrictions, so face to face visits have been minimal. We visited in the last few weeks and were pleased to find my mother looking well, well-groomed and happy. The staff are always friendly. Whilst we have not been able to see my mother's room, the lounge area where we meet is clean and comfortable. It certainly meets our needs. When we make enquiries, any questions are answered by staff. However, perhaps sometimes information is not initiated by Upton House e.g outbreak of covid at home. Possibly due to an oversight, but I was not informed. Also, I have not been fully briefed on what plans and timelines have been made for "normal" visiting after covid restrictions are lifted. Overall, we are very happy with the care Mum receives from all the staff at Upton House and this, of course, is our priority and the staff have coped remarkably well during the pandemic.
My sister and I placed our father in Upton House in the summer of 2021 and it has proved to be an excellent choice. It is a lovely house set in very pleasant gardens and whilst we have not been able to see much of the inside of the building, due to Covid restrictions, what we have seen seems to provide a very comfortable environment for residents. The staff are cheerful, efficient, kind and attentive and I have complete confidence that my father is being very well cared for. When we visit, he always appears well-groomed and invariably says how good the staff are to him and how much he enjoys the food. I would be very happy to recommend this care home.
Visiting arrangements have been well managed, with excellent attention to cross-infection, all protocols were in place. My brother's speech and general health and cleanliness improved when he moved in. He has substantial meals and refreshments every day, with tasty snacks in between. His hair, nails and skin are looked after with daily moisturizing and grooming. Staff respond to his wishes throughout the day. His wardrobe is well managed, we have never seen him wearing another person's clothing. Staff answer the phone within 3/4 rings always and know exactly how my brother is, what he's eaten, wearing and doing. Access to the manager is immediate, I have full confidence that I'm listened to and that the highly competent staff respond appropriately. Feedback from staff about my brother's current state is honest, which reassures us he's in excellent hands and will be right through to the end. The environment inside and out is high quality and well maintained. This is an excellent place.
I cannot fault Upton House. The managers always make us feel welcome and the support and advice they have provided us with is second to none. The house and gardens make it feel like a hotel rather than a residential home and residents receive a high standard of care. When we visit, we can see that my mother-in-law is happy, safe and well looked after. All the staff have such a lovely relationship with her.
My mother could not receive better care. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone looking for first-class dementia care. Following an unsuccessful very short stay in another care facility, I brought Mum home and researched many care homes and Upton house was the top of my list. Mum’s has been kept very safe throughout this pandemic and this is a credit to all, owners, management and staff who all provide day to day care.
I find the staff very helpful and informative. Always approachable and notified of any concerns. Which are dealt with promptly. The meals are of a very high standard which my dad enjoys very much. A very professional visit was arranged, following all guidelines. When it was safe to visit when lockdown eased, it was lovely to see my dad looking really well. Well done to all the staff and management at Upton House, surrounded by lovely well kept gardens.
The team at Upton House have been fantastic in helping my Dad settle into the Care Home. I was surprised at how quickly he considered the Care Home to be his new Home, which has been very comforting to the family. We feel confident that he is being administered with all his medication. Dad comments that he is very happy with the food that is served. We have found all the staff to be very friendly and always happy to deal with any concerns we have. Very nice living conditions and surrounding gardens.
