•        Barbecues and cream teas on the lawn
•        Fish and chips on Bournemouth beach
•        Visit from a calm and friendly dog

With so many activities they also recognise that everyone needs some time for relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The home offers a number of lounges to enjoy peace and quiet. From the moment we arrived all of the staff were very welcoming, helpful and very professional. They looked after mum very well and nothing was too much trouble. Mum settled in very quick and was happy while she was there. They all work very hard and it was the right move for mum.

The care workers were very tired and always willing to listen to the resident and their family. The food was good but at times too much for the elderly. Living away from my sister I found talking to the care leader very helpful.

My mum has been a resident for only a short time but the positive effect this has had on her has been amazing! The staff are brilliant, attentive and always keep me informed of how Mum is getting on. Like all residents, she has plenty to take part in if she wants to - and a peaceful room to stay in
if she wants to relax instead.
The home is very peaceful and its gardens pleasant. My family and I are so pleased that Mum is being so well cared for.

I think it is a wonderful place. Couldn't wish to be looked after better as I don't have to lift a finger if we don't want to. No one is nasty to anyone in here. I can't fault the staff, they're patient and very kind. The beds are comfy and the rooms are always clean.

This was a free tea and cake event. Firstly, the lady in charge was perfect for the task with eyes everywhere and reassurance where necessary, and also a natural ability to keep the lounge in a tidy and welcoming state for residents and visitors. This was my second visit - previously I had sat between
two residents; they seemed wary at times. On this visit, I was greeted with their smiles. Well done all the staff there.

My mother, before her death, was in a number of homes and I can say none were as good as this. I feel my friend's family have chosen very wisely and their mother will be cared for in a home that should be the exemplar to all others.

My mother lived in this care home from January 2017 to June 2018. She was very happy there and was very well cared for. She particularly enjoyed the social events, i.e. garden parties, Christmas celebrations, outings to the ice rink in Oxford, Bournemouth, a local hostelry for a meal and a river trip.
There were often entertainers visiting the home which all the residents enjoyed. The extra special occasion for my mum was when it was her hundredth birthday, when she had a special party and she had a surprise visit from personnel from RAF Benson, as she had met my Dad whilst they both served in the RAF.

For nearly the last 2 years my mother has been cared for at Stirlings. I have found the staff to be very helpful and supportive. My mother has a lovely room overlooking the front gardens and would recommend this care home to anyone who needed similar care or treatment.

Our late mother was a resident for a couple of years. We felt the level of care was excellent, the staff genuinely caring and devoted to their jobs! The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, very important, especially in the early days. Impressed by the time and trouble taken to lay on stimulating
activities and excursions.
Our mother also enjoyed the catering, praise indeed!

Since our arrival, we have been made very welcome by all staff and management. The facilities are very adequate, the staff have and need, lots of patience. We had an excellent day out recently to Cotswold Wildlife Park when the weather was very good. The trip was well organised and enjoyed by all.

My mother who had been residing in Stirlings for over four years was hospitalised with pneumonia in January. Having been put on an end of life plan she was accepted back to Stirlings to live out her remaining days.
Her care has been exemplary. She has been treated with love, dignity and unfailing
cheerfulness by everyone who has cared for her. She could not have had better care and subsequently, she is still alive and doing as well as possible for a 99-year-old.
I cannot praise that staff highly enough. I am humbled by them.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.688)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.688) out of 10 for Stirlings is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.688 for Stirlings is calculated as follows: ( (199 Excellents x 5) + (83 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 285 Ratings = 4.688
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stirlings is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
