Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre

from Cheryl P (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Dad was moved to Ashley House on Christmas Eve 2024 from Gloucester Royal Hospital, from the moment I made contact with the staff at Ashley House, I knew that my Dad was in safe hands.
I was always kept up to date with his condition and the medication he was taking.
Hospital transport was organised
for his many visits to hospital, being treated with compassion and dignity.
As a family we were always made to feel very welcome.
I can't thank the staff of Ashley Intermediate Care Centre enough for the care they gave my Dad, from the managers, nurses, carers, housekeepers and tea makers!
Thank you so much for all your kindness and hard work.

Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre

Thank you so much for your lovely review of Ashley House, it's greatly appreciated. Our team will be so thrilled to read how highly you have rated the care and service we provide. It was a real pleasure caring for your dad.

Monkscroft Care Centre

from C H (Son of Resident) published on 18 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

When my dear mum was on an end of life pathway, and a nursing home was agreed, Monkscroft was the place I wanted mum to go, within days and with some help, mum was brought into the Monkscroft family. Mum passed away 4 days later, sooner than I had hoped but her final days were peaceful and comfortable,
she was a person and not a patient. The staff were amazing , caring and committed to the folks in their care. Monkscroft and its staff are truly amazing. Thank you.

Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre

from G B (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Paramedics said Mum could not be left alone and needed 24/7 care. Later that day she was getting settled in her room at Apple Trees. The kindness and care she has received is excellent. At night she is checked on every 2hrs. She loves the food (always a choice). Apple Trees has a real community feel
rather than an institution. Everything looks and smells clean and fresh. There are lounge areas, garden, reading corner, table games, activities, tea & coffee making facilities in the kitchen area. A shetland pony visited one day - staff took photos and mum has hers next to her family photos. She took her recliner and other items so he room feels like home. I haven't seen Mum so relaxed for a long time. She feels safe and knows she just has to press her button and someone will come and check on her. As a family we have peace of mind knowing mum has the 24/7 care she needs. We couldn't ask for more!

I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care and warmth you have shown my nan since her arrival at Langford. Her new home, in every sense of the word from the very first moment we stepped through the door, the staff were incredibly welcoming to both my nan
and me. We were guided to her room, beautifully furnished and clean, then offered a cup of tea and biscuits, this truly meant a lot. Nan has said the meals are great. Nan has made friends already, she is so happy which is just what I needed and her.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, your care and dedication make such a difference.

Mum has been there for just a year now and during that time I have seen the pure dedication of all the staff to make her stay happy, as they can be. I have seen the care that they are all given. When my dad died one of the ladies came with mum to the funeral, another time another member of staff took
mum to hospital apt in her own time. Over the year I have got to know many of the staff very well and I can't thank them enough for looking after my mum so well, treating her with such dignity and respect.

Goodson Lodge Care Centre

from Lorraine C (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Both my parents suffered from Alzheimer's and my mother was physically very frail. With a heavy heart and much guilt my siblings and I took the decision to move them into Goodson Lodge in 2023 when they were in their late 80's. It was the best thing we could have done. Having become very isolated in
their own home they had a better social life at Goodson than they'd had for years, both taking part in the musical activities, and enjoying chat and banter with the staff throughout the day. Previously it was a struggle to get a GP appointment but at Goodson the same GP visited weekly and got to know them both. They constantly praised the staff, the rooms, the furniture and the gardens. Having them so happy and well cared for was a massive weight off my and my siblings' shoulders, and we were able to enjoy our visits with them rather than fearing what would we would find when we walked in the door. We are so grateful for the care they received from the Goodson staff in their final year.

We have been lucky to find Wellford Gardens. It has proven to be perfect for our mother. She is enjoying her calm and beautiful surroundings and regular meals and conversations with the staff - joining in with activities through the experience and knowledge of a well managed, very caring team that knows
how to work with people living with dementia. Everyone's warmth, kindness and friendliness is second to none; each ensuring our mother can enjoy as much as possible within boundaries that she is comfortable with. For high days and holidays the proverbial 'boat is really pushed out' - high quality dining in a sumptuous dining room when the service and delivery is outstanding. Thanks to everyone at Wellford Gardens who make all this happen.

Went in with trepidation but was quickly put at ease with the friendly staff. The food was very good with plenty of choice. The kitchen staff were extremely accommodating. I am sure I put weight on. The care was excellent; nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The room was spacious, light and clean.

Southfield House

from J L (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

My mother has been a resident at Southfield House since Oct 2023. On the whole, I feel she has received satisfactory care and support during her time there. Most of the staff show compassion, sincere care and concern, patience and understanding. I have observed this during my visits.
Occasionally I
feel concerned that Mum's dignity is not always considered e.g. at 97, I don't like to see the hairstyles they give her as if she were a child! Also, laundry items seem to go astray until I chase them up! These issues are frustrating to a relative. It's a part of the whole picture so it needs mentioning.

Review of

Chilterns Court Care Centre

from Carole R (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Dad in CC for week's respite. He cannot walk and mobilises by wheelchair. Had 2 unwitnessed falls during his stay, despite us bringing in motion alarms for bed/chair. Day 4 became confused, started talking gobbledegook which we recognised as start of UTI. Spoke to Head Nurse who promised it would be
checked and if UTI, GP would be called for antibiotics. Next day we asked if Dad had UTI and told it hadn't been dealt with and Dad picked up tummy bug as another resident had one. Clothes went missing, were found in another resident's room as "his daughter had been into the laundry room and helped herself ". Most of the clothes were returned but not all. Spoke to Manager who apologised for the way Dad's week had gone. When Dad came home, complained of a sore bottom and the carers discovered open bed sores. We were very disappointed and upset at Dad's overall care and would not feel comfortable sending him to CC again unless we had reassurance the care would be of a much higher standard.
