It's a happy place.
Mother is in advancing stage of dementia and immobility. She is always happy and doesn't say anything negative - ever. "Food is good, warm, comfortable and the staff are lovely". She is very content. Father recognises he's lost independence but knows he needs the care provided.
He is also content and well looked after.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Monkscroft Care CentreThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're really pleased to hear that both your mother and father feel happy, comfortable and well cared for, and that your mother remains so content despite the challenges she faces. It's especially reassuring to know that your father feels supported and confident in the care provided, even as he adjusts to changes in independence. Your kind words about the warmth of the home, the food and the staff mean a great deal to the whole team - thank you for sharing them.

What wonderful staff and volunteers who all keep Monkscroft residents safe and cared for every day.

My dad has his care needs met as an individual person, rather than part of a crowd. They put us in touch with the veterans' volunteer who assisted us with obtaining a personalised wheelchair that fully

meets his physical needs, that have changed over time, so that he can join in with the activities again.

Thank you.

Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Monkscroft Care CentreThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We're delighted to hear that your dad is supported as an individual and that you feel reassured by the care he receives every day. It's wonderful to know that our team and volunteers were able to help connect you with the veterans' support and assist in obtaining a personalised wheelchair, enabling your dad to stay comfortable and take part in activities again. Your comments mean a great deal to everyone here, and we thank you for taking the time to share them.

I cannot begin to explain just how delighted I am with Windsor Street Care Centre. Mum's dementia diagnosis was sudden and a complete shock following a short stay in hospital. The care she has received at Windsor Street has been exemplary. The welcome is always warm; all staff are fabulous and happy.
The care centre is immaculately clean and organised. The reception area is more like a hotel! Our relief at knowing mum is safe and cared for is so very much appreciated. Thank you all for doing a wonderful job.

If and when there are difficulties, once brought to the attention of staff and/or management they are dealt with.

My mother has been at OSJCT Windsor Street Care Centre since Oct 2024 due to dementia. The home kindly agreed to let me bring her cat over from France, which has been a huge comfort to her and is loved by staff and residents.
The care feels much more personal than what we experienced before - she's
treated as an individual, not just a medical case. Staff are kind, understanding and respectful, and communication is generally good. I'm contacted when needed and management is approachable. Having Polish-speaking staff is also a big plus for her.
The home is clean, homely and welcoming, with a nice garden and activities available.
A couple of areas for improvement: clearer communication between management and staff (e.g. planning around her cataract operation), and the food could offer more variety/quality for the price.
Overall, I'm grateful and reassured she's being well cared for.
Reply from Steve Gardner-Collins, On behalf of the team at Windsor Street Care CentreWe're delighted your mother has settled in well and that bringing her cat has provided such comfort to her and others. It's wonderful to hear she feels treated as an individual and supported by our kind, respectful team, including Polish-speaking staff who help her feel at ease. We appreciate your positive comments about the homely environment, cleanliness, and activities, and will share this with our team. Your feedback also helps us improve. We recognise the importance of clear communication, particularly around care planning such as her cataract operation, and will review this internally. Additionally, we will pass on your comments regarding food variety and quality to our catering team. Thank you again for your trust and support, it means a great deal to us and reassures us we're on the right path.

My Dad has been on Maple unit in Chestnut Court for 3 years now. The staff on his ward are fabulous!! Nothing is ever too much trouble. They are very professional but also very caring & loving towards my Dad, in fact all the people in their care. Everyone from the domestics to the care leads are wonderful.

I can't thank Chestnut Court enough! My Mum would have preferred to stay at home forever but, the transition between home (Wales) and moving in last Friday has been seamless thanks to the Whole Team effort.

She is settled, interacting, communicating better, seems very happy already and is thankful

that we have brought her here.

Immediately her care needs have been addressed and the staff have been so patient and caring with her (and me). I am certainly sleeping better knowing that she is being looked after.

My Mums' smile is back! Thank you!

Reply from Steve Gardner-Collins, On behalf of the team at Chestnut CourtThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review. It truly means a lot to the whole team at Chestnut Court. We understand how significant a move like this can be, especially when it involves leaving a much-loved home, so we're really pleased to hear that the transition has felt smooth and reassuring for both you and your mum. It's wonderful to know she's settling in well, engaging with others, and already feeling happy and supported. Our team takes great pride in providing compassionate, person-centred care, so your feedback about their patience and kindness is incredibly appreciated. We're also so glad to hear that you're able to rest easier knowing she's in safe hands, that's just as important. Seeing your mum's smile return is exactly why we do what we do. 1000 characters isnt enough to say how much all the staff actually do care and do everything they possibly can to make sure residents are happy comfortable and enjoy their time at Monkscroft .
Mum was there for seven months came in as bed bound ended up as end of life care .
i never wanted mum in a
care home but it was the best thing i could ever have done for her .
All of the staff are amaizing, everyone takes time to notice you to make you welcome . The food is cooked in the kitchens not a microwave or bag of frozen peas in sight
Housekeeping ...always with a smile always a friendly chat always made time for everyone always sensitive to mums needs always showing they cared .
carers ... their prority is comfort compassion respect all carried with dignity and respect that shows no limits
Nurses ... what can i say always making sure mum was comfortable pain free and recieving the best possible treatment
Putting mum in Monkscroft was the best possibe thing i could ever have done

Mum was taken to Millbrook Lodge (ML) after a short return to home following a hospital spell with very serious pneumonia approx 14 mths ago. It was no longer safe for her to be at home alone. It was an extremely tough family decision but was made easier by the management & staff. From the start mum
was welcomed and enjoyed the banter & chat with all the staff. She's well cared for, fed, watered & most importantly is safe in her new environment. She's treated with care & respect. Still manages to enjoy some activities she did at home, has her hair done weekly, attends the social events as much or as little as she wants. Whilst her health has deteriorated(all related to age not care) we are grateful that mum is in ML & this gives all the family peace of mind. The whole situation has not been ideal & probably not how we envisaged the twilight years of her life would pan out but we are grateful for the kind, caring & safe environment in which mum now lives

Very happy with the care provided to my nan! She is getting the help and support she needs and continues to thrive here. My Nan is always happy with the meals and continues to comment on how lovely all staff are that she meets! My nan does enjoy the activities when she does attend them, lots of different
ones to choose from.
