My brother had a very bad 2023 and spent most of it in hospital. When we went to Paternoster House in 2024 I expected him not to last very long. However, thanks to all the team at Paternoster my brother is doing very well. Better than I ever thought. All the staff always speak and say hello whenever
we are there. They create the atmosphere of a loving family.

My mother has just spent the last six weeks in Ashley Intermediate Care Centre. The care by all the wonderful staff was excellent in every way. They treated my mother who has dementia with so much kindness and professionalism giving her time and patience even when she became agitated and anxious. They
always had a smile and took time to reassure & keep us the family involved and informed in what was a very stressful time. I could not fault Ashley Care Centre and am very grateful for their time & care. We wish all the carers the very best. Thank you!!

My Dad was moved to Ashley House on Christmas Eve 2024 from Gloucester Royal Hospital, from the moment I made contact with the staff at Ashley House, I knew that my Dad was in safe hands.
I was always kept up to date with his condition and the medication he was taking.
Hospital transport was organised
for his many visits to hospital, being treated with compassion and dignity.
As a family we were always made to feel very welcome.
I can't thank the staff of Ashley Intermediate Care Centre enough for the care they gave my Dad, from the managers, nurses, carers, housekeepers and tea makers!
Thank you so much for all your kindness and hard work.

When my dear mum was on an end of life pathway, and a nursing home was agreed, Monkscroft was the place I wanted mum to go, within days and with some help, mum was brought into the Monkscroft family. Mum passed away 4 days later, sooner than I had hoped but her final days were peaceful and comfortable,
she was a person and not a patient. The staff were amazing , caring and committed to the folks in their care. Monkscroft and its staff are truly amazing. Thank you.

We came to visit the day after she was released from hospital after her fall. Her face was badly bruised and cut she had lost a lot of weight. Didn't know my husband and me at all, had lost so much weight and wouldn't talk, that was in December. Since then she has improved so much in every way. January
she was more herself and by February she looked and talked as she always had, it is now a pleasure to visit. The staff are a delight.

My dad came into Windsor Street as he was to thriving at home. He was here to be assessed initially, he would not interact. Six weeks later, he is eating, drinking, and interacting with residents and staff. He has felt safe and been extremely well looked after throughout his time. All the staff are
amazing, respectful to my dad. I can't thank them enough.

Dad arrived from hospital following a nasty fall. His mobility and mental capacity had been badly affected. His admission was sympathetic and all the staff have been extremely understanding and caring. He has received help to improve his mobility and cognitive skills. The room is always clean and tidy,
and his clothes are changed as often as required. Very impressed with everything.

My wife seems happy and well looked after at Rodley house.
My only concerns are that I don't get much feedback from staff or management. I am not allowed to see her records (because of company policy) so I am in the dark regarding her well being. The new partime manager seems very good and the staff
professional, caring and helpful.

The Coombs

from Sue B (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

We all want our parents to remain in their own homes as long as possible, but there are times when you have no choice but to choose a care home for them. We couldn't have made a better choice than The Coombs! From the very first moment, it felt like a home, a warm, friendly, inviting home. And it felt
like that every time we visited, day or night. Mum made friends with all the wonderful staff and she enjoyed their stimulating banter, danced and sang with them. The kitchen staff looked after her every need, which was mostly cheese and crackers - lol! There were plenty of events and outings to the swimming pool, boat trips, library and cafes. Most importantly, her health care and nursing requirements were handled with dignity and sensitivity, and always carefully monitored. As mum's closest family, we were listened to by the incredible staff and Management of The Coombs. Mum's last hours were handled with dignity, respect and love. We thank each and every one of you.

I have to be honest that my opinion of Care Homes in general , previously was not good but after being lucky enough to get a place at The Coombs for our 93 year old mum, that opinion quickly changed . From the moment mum arrived there they were very attentive and took the time to get to know her (
and us) and find out what she liked and disliked. There were no restrictions on visiting hours which made it easy and less stressful spending quality time with mum. The food was good and plentiful usually with home made cakes at tea time . It really was like a home from home and I joked to my own children that they could book me in now because it simply was that good. I can totally recommend The Coombs and would like to thank the very very caring staff there . You are amazing

Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre

from Adrian M (Brother of Resident) published on 25 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I have written several times before about Grevill House where my twin brother is a long term resident, due to his complex health conditions.
I popped into see him this morning and it struck me that Grevill House stands out for one major reason; the outstanding quality of the staff.
Whenever I go into
the home it feels like I am visiting a much loved large family. I talk to everyone and am given such a warm welcome by all the staff including the carers, housekeepers, nurses, cooks, the manager and the handyman.
It means so much to me and the family that he is looked after by such lovely people.

Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Grevill House and Ashley Intermediate Care Centre

Thank you so much for yet another truly fantastic review of our home, we are so grateful. It remains a pleasure caring for your twin brother and seeing his family visit. Our staff will be so chuffed to read how highly you rate them and the care we provide. Family is everything and we hope that comes across in the culture here at Grevill House. Very best wishes from us all.

Edwardstow Court

from W W (Resident) published on 21 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

I went to Edwardstow Court after hospitalisation for a severe bout of influenza. The facilities of the Court were entirely suitable for my needs, whilst basically, were to rebuild my strength and health in an attempt to return to my ability to live alone without help. Everything about the Court is of
a very high standard. There is an impressive and tasteful feel about everything, in the construction and fitting out. You get the immediate feeling that the people will be happy here, as I was in for a short time settling in, despite the illness. The atmosphere was aided by friendliness and companionship which residents and staff exceeded. A great home.

I would definitely recommend The Lakes to stay.

I have nothing but praise to give to the staff and management of this care home - especially regarding the nature and conditions of its patrons. It must be a really difficult task. The home itself is beautifully decorated and kept spotless, the rooms are very nice. Relations between staff and visitors
are extremely cordial- it is a real pleasure to visit. But at £7017 per month - it is very expensive.
