Spencer Court

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife and I visit Spencer Court every week, and we really feel there is a strong sense of community between the residents, staff and visitors. All staff play their part in making Spencer Court a welcoming place, and my mother-in-law is well looked after. We always have a laugh with the staff, even
though they are clearly busy, and this contributes to making each visit a positive experience. I have visited a few other care homes, seeing other relatives, but Spencer Court is by far the best. Is Spencer Court perfect? No, but they listen to visitors' concerns and take time to explain their procedures or work with residents and their family to improve the experience. If I ever end up in a care home, I would want it to be Spencer Court.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Spencer CourtThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We're really pleased to hear that you feel such a strong sense of community at Spencer Court and that your mother-in-law is well cared for.
Your comments about the team's warmth, openness and willingness to listen mean a great deal to us, and we'll be sure to share them with everyone. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a positive review - this has truly made our day.

My mother has only recently moved into Meadow Croft and has settled in remarkable quickly. She has enjoyed joining him with the activities - something she never did when she was living along and has not made new friendships already. She is very well cared for by the lovely staff which is such a relief
for us as a family. It's comforting to know she's in such pleasant surroundings and she's especially looking forward to spending time out in the garden

My father has been a resident for the last 18 months. I have found all the staff, nurses, carers, cleaners etc are always caring, friendly and professional, even when they are very busy.. Dad is treated with respect and his personal care needs are met with compassion and dignity. There is plenty of
choice for food, which is well cooked and plentiful. His room is kept clean and I appreciate the excellent laundry service.

My main concern is that my mum is happy, and that certainly seems to be the care. I was worried that she might not settle at Stirlings, but she really seems to be enjoying herself. She is mixing with people far more than before, and taking part in all the activities. Her room is clean when I visit and
she usually looks well. The staff are lovely and it's aways nice to see everyone. Well done everyone!

Review of

Westgate House

from Lynn B (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum was resident in Westgate for over 3 years; she had Alzheimer's/Dementia and passed away in October 2025. She began her stay on Kingfisher but moved to Skylark as her illness worsened. In both units she was always treated with kindness & dignity. Occasional issues were always addressed and rectified
quickly. We could highlight individuals for the care they gave Mum, however we genuinely believe that everyone, from the team in the kitchen, the laundry, the cleaners, the volunteers, the admin team and of course all the Care staff, contributed to making Mum's dementia journey as safe and happy as possible. Quite simply Westgate provided the environment and care for Mum that she needed and that we as a family we could no longer provide and for that we will be forever grateful. In her last days and hours she and we experienced a level of care and kindness that was overwhelming and quite exceptional. Thank you all.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Westgate HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and moving review. We are deeply sorry for your loss and are truly honoured that Westgate was able to care for your Mum during her dementia journey.
It means a great deal to hear that she was treated with kindness and dignity across both Kingfisher and Skylark, and that you felt supported as a family throughout her time with us. Your recognition of the wider team - from care staff to kitchen, laundry, housekeeping, volunteers and admin - is incredibly appreciated and will be shared with everyone.
Supporting residents and their families at such an important time is something we hold very close to our hearts, and your feedback affirms the compassion and dedication of our team. Once again, thank you so much and if you're ever in the area, please do pop in and join us for tea and a cuppa - you will always be part of our Westgate House family.

Henry Cornish Care Centre

The care home had a vibrant atmosphere from the start as my father arrived and joined in the singing activities straight away. The staff were all brilliant, very caring and professional. MY father always felt secure and content and did not complain once in the nine months he was there. We had lots of
personal care regrets in terms of nutrition, and these were nearly always met. We are very grateful to the team for their support and care for my father. Thank you!
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're very pleased to hear that your father felt welcomed from the outset and was able to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and activities, including the singing sessions.
It's especially meaningful to know that he felt secure and content during his time with us, and that the team provided caring and professional support throughout. We also appreciate your comments regarding his nutritional needs and are glad these were listened to and met wherever possible. Your gratitude means a great deal to the whole team, and your feedback will be shared as recognition of their commitment and compassion. Thank you for entrusting us with your father's care.

My father tells me that he feels well cared for. On my visits I hear how kindly the staff speak to the residents. I always feel welcomed. I see how clean the toilets and bathrooms are. The activities programme is varied and stimulating. The food is plentiful and better than I get at home! This is a
safe place for your last lap.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at StirlingsThank you very much for sharing your kind feedback. Staff are great, but some need to work with others, and some need more training. Most of the carers do not know what's in the food, and also menu goes walkabout.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Chilterns Court Care CentreThank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind comments about our staff. We're always looking for ways to improve, and your observations around teamwork and training have been shared with the management team.
We're also making positive changes to our catering service. Residents are actively involved through a food survey, with our chef chatting with them about what they'd like to see on future menus. We're also enjoying food-tasting sessions so residents can help shape meals they truly enjoy.

My Father has been in the meadows for a month and the care has been excellent it's clean, the staff are kind, he enjoyed the food and loved the activities he often thought he was in a hotel. We worried that the would hate it but he said he was happy, comfortable and often thought he was on holiday.
The kindness at the end towards the family showed true compassion and genuine care.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at The MeadowsThank you so much for your lovely review of our home, we are so pleased to read how highly your father rated the care and team here at The Meadows. It was an absolute pleasure caring for him, since the moment he arrived he brought such a lovely energy and we adored him. We are so sorry for your loss - our heartfelt condolences to you all.
