Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and
snacks, laundry (excluding dry cleaning),
housekeeping, maintenance and activities run by the
home.


Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

We moved our mother to Spencer Court in February 2025 for emergency respite due to a rapid deterioration in her condition; she was subsequently diagnosed with dementia and became a resident of Spencer Court. A very stressful situation was made 1000% easier by the Spencer Court - the staff, the care
and the accommodation itself. Immediately we knew our mum was in very good hands. The care second to none with the staff themselves viewing Spencer Court as a family. Lots of our mums' carers have been there for years. The staff were endlessly caring when our mother felt lost or distressed and knowing she was being looked after so well was a huge comfort to us all. We are now moving our mother to another part of the country to be closer to family and having now visited lots of other homes, Spencer Court remains at the top. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My mum came into care in August 2023. She was always treated with respect and kindness. She had falls and water infections we were always informed swiftly. In the past few weeks mum was very frail but always treated kindly and with respect. Her room was always clean and in the last weeks of her life
staff fed her and dealt with all personal care. They gave us a room for us to use so mum was never on her own as her life slipped away.

My stay was respite care. The staff worked their socks off! Nothing was too much trouble. They were even good fun! Many patients are very poorly yet the staff take such great care with them.

Staff are brilliant, in particular two members of staff who really take care of Mum. The manager is a really positive Manager of the Residence who always listens with empathy. I cannot fault the care given to Mum in her final year. She wasn't one to socialise as her mobility, sight loss and hearing were too much of an effort in those situations. She enjoyed the one-to-one visits from all the carers and staff, forming close relationships with many.
The home did feel understaffed
at times, difficult to take Mum out in the wheelchair as easily as initially expected.

Dad had been made to feel really welcome as the carers are kind, friendly and efficient. He has been treated with dignity and patience. He has enjoyed the food and his room is light and airy with a lovely view over the garden.

My husband has been in Spencer Court for slightly under two weeks. The care he has received in this short time has been kind, helpful and very understanding as he can get confused which distresses him. My mum entered an end-of-life path earlier this year and was fortunate to be able to see out her days at Spencer Court. The medical, care and emotional support from all the staff was exceptional. At a sad time, this brought me great comfort and relief. The whole situation could not have been handled

Spencer Court is such a wonderful place! It is clean, secure, well laid out and has a lovely garden. The rooms are a good size and en-suite and the food is excellent. It is, however, the staff who make it so special from the manager to all the carers and staff who help out. Everyone is so friendly and

Granny was treated with compassion and love by the staff, they were like an extended family at the end. We as visitors were shown so much compassion in her final days. The staff went above and beyond for all of us. Thank you, staff!

My mother has been at Spencer Court now for almost one year (18th April). My mother has received excellent care. The support and care my mother has received has been exceptional. It is a clean, warm and welcoming home with wonderful staff. As she has dementia, I would like to receive individual feedback
on a regular basis (with regard to her personal care, spirit activity etc.). I feel happy that my mother is safe and well looked after.

Angela

Angela Champ

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

Angela began her career in the care sector as soon as she turned 18 following providing care to a family member at a young age, she knew this was the career for her from that moment. She loves making a difference to individuals residing in the home and supporting her teams within their roles.


She has progressed within her career in a nursing home environment and throughout the last 11 years, she has been privileged to have been provided the most outstanding training and support to be able to confidently manage Spencer Court and to support each and every staff member to achieve their goals and be the best they can be.


She has an NVQ level 3 in health and social care, a city and guilds accredited living in my world dementia qualification and she is currently In progress with her level 5 management NVQ. The dedicated team at Spencer Court work with her to deliver the highest standards of person-centred care and achieve the best outcomes in every aspect for each individual residing at the home.


She feels privileged to take care of people’s loved ones and treat each individual as she would her own family

Spencer Court is a beautiful home situated in the outstanding community of Woodstock and we certainly take every opportunity to make frequent visits with our residents to the beautiful Blenheim Palace.


Angela has lived in Oxford all her life and in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, partner & family, reading and attending to her allotment.

Jane

Jane Ravenhill

Job Title: Head of Care

Jane has worked at Spencer Court since 2012, starting her career as a carer before working her way up to care leader and now the head of care. Jane holds a number of qualifications in health and social care and has recently completed her level 4 diploma in Adult care and also holds a level 3 diploma in leadership and management. Jane knew she always wanted to work in the care sector following caring for both Grandparents when she was younger.


Jane has many fond memories of working at Spencer Court over the years and feels it a very lovely place to work, it feels part of a community and the residents and staff make it so warm and welcoming. She feels they are so lucky to have a link with Blenheim Palace which means lots of trips up to the Palace and grounds when the weather permits.


Jane enjoys spending time with her young family in her free time including walking their dog, going on day trips and holidays. She enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors where she can.

Carole 'Candy'

Carole 'Candy' Andrews

Job Title: Care Leader

Candy has been one of Spencer Court’s Care Leaders since 2017 and has over 20 years’ experience working in the care sector, holding Health and Social Care NVQs at levels 2 and 3. She started as a cook and then decided to step into the care team, eventually becoming care leader.


Candy loves talking to the residents and her caring nature means she finds it easy to be supportive towards them as well as towards her colleagues.

Elaine

Elaine Glastonbury

Job Title: Chef Joined: 2022

Elaine is our chef here at Spencer Court. She joined us after a long career in catering which has seen her working in hospitals, private houses, pubs, and cafes. Elaine has always loved working with food and has gained many qualifications in catering and hospitality as well as team management to support her practical experience.


Elaine enjoys working at Spencer Court; she says her team is like a little family in the kitchen and she enjoys working as part of that team. She loves preparing meals for the residents and ensuring they have a balanced and nutritious diet.


Building on that, Elaine’s goal is to see that each resident is happy with their meals and that she can provide the little extras they so enjoy so that everyone has their favourite things.


Out of work, Elaine loves gardening and DIY as well as Jazzercise. She even taught Jazzercise for five years! It helps keep her fit and well, emotionally and physically.
