Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and
snacks, laundry (excluding dry cleaning),
housekeeping, maintenance and activities run by the
home.


Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

I attended the Jubilee garden party at Spencer Court. It was a joy to observe all the staff and residents having a good time together. The genuine warmth and affection from the staff were evident while always taking the care necessary and being respectful. So glad my dad is in good hands.

We attended the Jubilee party, which my mother attended, so we spoke to her and her friends. Later we went up to see my father, who was in bed as he was not well. He was pleased to see us, and we hope to see them both again quite soon. Thank you for all your help with them.

I found that Spencer Court was the perfect place for my elderly mother, who needs full-time care. She arrived there in a very weak state but has managed to improve with help from everyone at the home.
She is very comfy and happy there, and the staff have been wonderful to us when we visit.

I'm very happy with Spencer Court, my grandmother who is 107 having moved from another home in March. Although due to Covid we have not been able to view inside the home from what we have seen the conditions appear far superior to that of the other home. The staff have been very supportive, and in particular,
a couple of staff members have given excellent service and I am at ease that my grandmother is being very well cared for.

I made a socially distanced outdoor visit to my resident cousin. This was my first visit and was agreeably surprised with how pleasant and attractive the enclosed garden is. My mum went to Spencer Court two days before Christmas, and what a lovely place it is. The staff are lovely, all very helpful and willing to help with any questions we have. It's been strange not being able to see Mum until recently, but Spencer Court has done all they can to keep in contact, re, my

My mum moved from another home about a month ago where she was very well looked after. First impressions of Spencer Court are very good, but still slightly limited due to Covid rules. It looked very clean, and well looked after, and the staff are very friendly. The cubicle for visiting is very good.

Overall, I am very happy with the level of care provided for my mother. All the staff, from the manager to the carers, cleaners, cooked etc are warm and caring. I can only praise the staff at this facility. However, I do have a concern that head office management has been slow and non-proactive to deal
with covid. More autonomy should be given to the site managers so that action can be taken more immediately. The recent inclusion of a visitor 'pod' does not provide privacy for the resident, and anyone can listen to the conversations. This lack of privacy is not good.

My father has been in Spencer Court for almost 18 months and has been looked after very well with dignity and respect. The staff are to be highly congratulated on the way they have dealt with the pandemic and the fact that they have kept the virus out of the home so far. Whilst it has been difficult
for all concerned not to see their loved ones much over the recent months it has all been for residents benefit. Well done and thank you all.

I came for a social distant 15-minute garden visit during lockdown. I was welcomed in and assessed professionally with a very friendly manner as normal. Mum was waiting comfortably in the shade for me and when it was time to leave the staff explained to mum why I had to go simply and plainly staff always

Took a while for my mother to settle in, but now she loves residing at Spencer Court told me she feels like the queen and does not have to do anything and all the care staff are very nice to her. My only concern is with getting her toenails cut, she suffers from vascular dementia and her legs and ankles
swell up and I had to mention this to the manager as her slippers were ill-fitting. I am happy to see that since an activities coordinator has been appointed there are lots of things for the residents to do.

Mum is well cared for by caring staff. She enjoys most of her meals. Any problems seem to be addressed quickly although I sometimes have to bring the matter to the staff's attention more than once. I feel she could benefit from more 1:1 time as she isn't great at socialising.

I am not a fan of care homes but if this is the only option for your relatives, then it's a purpose-built building. Carers are all friendly and caring. I always think you could do with more so they have shifts of actually spending quality time with the residents. Sometimes when my father needs toiletries,
clothes etc we don't get any notice. My father, suffering with dementia seems happy and enjoys all the attention from staff.

Having visited 4 times a week in the past 4 years I would like to congratulate the cleaning staff on their amazing efforts to keep the whole home clean and tidy. Apart from a few carers, I can say that 80% are caring and professional in their approach to residents and their visitors. Well done all.

Angela

Angela Champ

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

Angela began her career in the care sector as soon as she turned 18 following providing care to a family member at a young age, she knew this was the career for her from that moment. She loves making a difference to individuals residing in the home and supporting her teams within their roles.


She has progressed within her career in a nursing home environment and throughout the last 11 years, she has been privileged to have been provided the most outstanding training and support to be able to confidently manage Spencer Court and to support each and every staff member to achieve their goals and be the best they can be.


She has an NVQ level 3 in health and social care, a city and guilds accredited living in my world dementia qualification and she is currently In progress with her level 5 management NVQ. The dedicated team at Spencer Court work with her to deliver the highest standards of person-centred care and achieve the best outcomes in every aspect for each individual residing at the home.


She feels privileged to take care of people’s loved ones and treat each individual as she would her own family

Spencer Court is a beautiful home situated in the outstanding community of Woodstock and we certainly take every opportunity to make frequent visits with our residents to the beautiful Blenheim Palace.


Angela has lived in Oxford all her life and in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, partner & family, reading and attending to her allotment.

Jane

Jane Ravenhill

Job Title: Head of Care

Jane has worked at Spencer Court since 2012, starting her career as a carer before working her way up to care leader and now the head of care. Jane holds a number of qualifications in health and social care and has recently completed her level 4 diploma in Adult care and also holds a level 3 diploma in leadership and management. Jane knew she always wanted to work in the care sector following caring for both Grandparents when she was younger.


Jane has many fond memories of working at Spencer Court over the years and feels it a very lovely place to work, it feels part of a community and the residents and staff make it so warm and welcoming. She feels they are so lucky to have a link with Blenheim Palace which means lots of trips up to the Palace and grounds when the weather permits.


Jane enjoys spending time with her young family in her free time including walking their dog, going on day trips and holidays. She enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors where she can.

Carole 'Candy'

Carole 'Candy' Andrews

Job Title: Care Leader

Candy has been one of Spencer Court’s Care Leaders since 2017 and has over 20 years’ experience working in the care sector, holding Health and Social Care NVQs at levels 2 and 3. She started as a cook and then decided to step into the care team, eventually becoming care leader.


Candy loves talking to the residents and her caring nature means she finds it easy to be supportive towards them as well as towards her colleagues.

Elaine

Elaine Glastonbury

Job Title: Chef Joined: 2022

Elaine is our chef here at Spencer Court. She joined us after a long career in catering which has seen her working in hospitals, private houses, pubs, and cafes. Elaine has always loved working with food and has gained many qualifications in catering and hospitality as well as team management to support her practical experience.


Elaine enjoys working at Spencer Court; she says her team is like a little family in the kitchen and she enjoys working as part of that team. She loves preparing meals for the residents and ensuring they have a balanced and nutritious diet.


Building on that, Elaine’s goal is to see that each resident is happy with their meals and that she can provide the little extras they so enjoy so that everyone has their favourite things.


Out of work, Elaine loves gardening and DIY as well as Jazzercise. She even taught Jazzercise for five years! It helps keep her fit and well, emotionally and physically.
