I feel the lovely homely atmosphere each time I visit the home, which is often about four times a week. Always some form of entertainment going on for the residents to join in with if they want to. I'm sure the homeliness is due to the staff's attitude and patience. I know I will become a resident here, and when that time comes, I will feel like I'm just moving house into my new home. The staff are excellent at keeping us informed.

I am always impressed by the activities for residents, the warm and clean environment and the friendliness and inclusivity of the staff. Spencer Court is by far the best care home of the half dozen or so I am familiar with. They care for each other and work as a team, with a strong focus on wellbeing.

This is such a fantastic care home. My mum is adored by the staff. The staff go above and beyond and genuinely care for the residents. The volunteers are also amazing. There is a great range of activities tailored to suit all needs. Trips out on the minibus mean so much to my mum. Thank you so much, Spence Court staff!

The home itself and all the staff are very welcoming and the atmosphere friendly and comfortable. From the minute my aunt arrived at Spencer Court, she has been treated with dignity and as an individual and she has been allowed to be herself, with help and support of staff who seem to truly understand the needs of those living with dementia. The activities are varied and outings frequent and the activities coordinator inspirational, bringing the best out of the residents and particularly my aunt. The home is very clean and I have no worries about leaving my aunt in their capable hands.

Our uncle joined Spencer Court in March 2023. From the very start he has been made welcome, he felt at home straight away. The care and attention he has received has been of an extremely high standard. He feels safe and secure.
The home is well-led and managed. Staff are efficient and extremely helpful.

As a family, we have appreciated the support we have received to help our uncle at what can be a time of adjustment and change.

Such a friendly and welcoming home, where Mum has been so happy for several years.
There are lots of stimulating activities, definitely 'something for everyone'. And quiet time for those who want it, important to Mum, who loves a good book.

The team who look after the residents are absolutely wonderful.

Dad has been at Spencer Court for several years. When I go to visit him, it is obvious that the staff look after him well. He is happy being there and realises he is in the right place. I did join a get-together with staff and residents (cheese and wine); it was nice to meet other residents. Unfortunately, Dad was not well enough to go but would have liked to. This get-together did help us to know more about each other.

Reply from Rowen Campbell, On behalf of the team at Spencer Court

My mum was a resident at Spencer Court for nearly two years. She died on 2nd March 2023. I could not have wished for a better standard of care for her. She was treated with love, care and compassion. She was respected and treated with dignity. Every member of staff, without fail, went above and beyond for my mum. Nothing was too much trouble for her. In her final weeks, the care was exemplary with the staff being so gentle and loving. Mum was kept clean and tidy as her condition prevented her from looking after herself. As her final days approached, the staff absolutely took her to their hearts and kept her comfortable and pain-free.
I have nothing but gratitude and thanks to them for looking after Mum the way they did. They made her final days and hours as peaceful as possible and gave me the peace of mind that only comes with the caring and compassionate people they are.

I would not have wished her to have been anywhere other than Spencer Court.

My relative had a recent stay in Spencer Court to convalesce following a hospital admission. The home is bright, cheerful and has a positive feel. All the staff we met were caring and worked as a team. The activities and outings arranged were food and enabled my aunt to visit places she had not been to for a while. The Christian ethos was particularly encouraging and welcoming. We were sorry when my relative had to go home, but felt the stay had been very beneficial to her.

I get really well looked after. I do want to spend time in my room reading and do enjoy joining in with activities as well. Because I have lived and worked in the area for 40 years, I have friends and family around to come and see me and take me out, so I am a lucky lady.
