Westgate House is now my home, the carers are wonderful, thank you!!
Thank you so much for your lovely 5-star review of our home - we are so pleased to read that you consider Westgate House your home. We absolutely love caring for you - seeing you interact so well with the residents and team makes us smile every day.
My Dad came to Westgate House for emergency respite (never had respite or a stay at any care home). Originally for 7 days but that was extended for a further 10 days. The whole team are amazing! For the first time in 5 years since my mum died, my dad's mood has been lifted! From the kitchen staff to the manager, everyone is so nice. We, as a family, felt very welcome. My dad has no complaints, not even one. He is looking forward to hopefully having some further respite. A very special heartfelt thank you to Rose, who supported me from the first phone call. I will forever be grateful to all of you!
Thank you so much for your lovely 5-star review of our home, it really has put a smile on all our faces. It was a pleasure meeting and caring for your dad, what a lovely man and although he only stayed with us for a short time, he made a real impact on us all. We look forward to welcoming him...
Westgate Care Home was an excellent choice for my wife's aunt. From the beginning, she was made to feel at home, making new friends. The home has Polly's Tea Room, a coffee shop, a cinema room, a dining room, and a lovely garden. The bedrooms are well furnished, with an en-suite bathroom and room for personal effects. The entertainment was well organised with special events throughout the year. Relatives were made to feel welcome as part of a big family.
Thank you for taking the time to share such a kind and positive review. It is wonderful to hear that your family member felt at home from the very beginning, formed new friendships, and enjoyed the welcoming environment. We are pleased that the facilities, comfortable bedrooms, and attractive...
My Mum was resident in Westgate for over 3 years; she had Alzheimer's/Dementia and passed away in October 2025. She began her stay on Kingfisher but moved to Skylark as her illness worsened. In both units she was always treated with kindness & dignity. Occasional issues were always addressed and rectified quickly. We could highlight individuals for the care they gave Mum, however we genuinely believe that everyone, from the team in the kitchen, the laundry, the cleaners, the volunteers, the admin team and of course all the Care staff, contributed to making Mum's dementia journey as safe and happy as possible. Quite simply Westgate provided the environment and care for Mum that she needed and that we as a family we could no longer provide and for that we will be forever grateful. In her last days and hours she and we experienced a level of care and kindness that was overwhelming and quite exceptional. Thank you all.
It means a great deal to hear that she was treated with kindness and dignity across...

We are beyond grateful for the way that Westgate House cares for my mother who has Alzheimers. When we visit she is always clean and her room is beautifully kept. My son (age 12) loves coming to visit and always feels so welcomed when he visits. He wants me to share that he feels that she is so happy here. We both love taking her to Polly's Tea Room when we visit, which feels like a second home to us now. The gardens are beautiful and we love to walk around them with her when we visit. The staff are lovely and caring. This is clear from the interactions that we have seen regularly over the last two years. It is very clear to us that she feels safe, secure and happy here. If Mum could communicate still I have no doubt she would say a huge thank you to all. We could not have asked for a better place for her to be at this point in her life. Thank you Westgate!!
Thank you for your fantastic review, it made our day to receive such lovely words. A huge thanks as well to your son - we are all so grateful to receive such positive feedback. It is an absolute pleasure caring for your mother, she makes us smile every day. We really appreciate the accolade of not...
I came to this home for respite. Staff are good, very helpful. I like this place.
Thank you so much for your review of our home. We are so happy to read that you are happy here and that our staff are helpful, this means the world to us.
All the staff were friendly, professional and approachable.
Choosing a care home for a loved one is a very difficult decision, there will never be any regrets in going to Westgate. My dad was happy with the care and appreciated how caring the staff were not just to my mum but to him too.
Westgate felt like a home, it was warm and friendly and the activities were fabulous.
It is a very well-run home with exceptional staff and very good management.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review and sharing your experiences of Westgate House. It was a privilege to care for your mother and she is missed by us all. If there is ever anything more we can do for your family, please don't hesitate to ask. We appreciate you taking the time to write us a review and sharing your feedback - it means a lot to our team.
My very close friend has dementia and is unable to live safely at home, independently. Although she has carers in her own home, she needed full-time care in order to carry out work at her house, and whilst I was on holiday. As a nurse, I have extremely high standards of care and was looking for the same for my friend. I did my research on local care homes and decided that Westgate was the one I would visit first. From the onset, everyone who I have come in contact with has been friendly and reassuring to both myself and my friend. We had several visits and opted for three weeks of respite. The care that was delivered to my friend during these 3 weeks was amazing. They were kind and caring and tended to her every need. For someone who is highly active and eats little, she put on weight in Westgate and thought she was staying in a top hotel. Whenever I called, I was updated on the different activities. Westgate will be our first choice when my friend requires full-time care.
What an absolutely lovely review, we are so grateful - thank you so much. It really was an absolute pleasure caring for your very close friend, and despite her only being with us for respite for 3 weeks, she most definitely felt like part of the Westgate House family in such a short space of time....
We relocated my sister to be nearer me. We are delighted to have found Westgate and the manager. A clean, bright home with a friendly and warm feel to it. Food is tasty and well-balanced. I could recommend Westgate to anyone.
Thank you for your kind words. We are really proud of our home and the team and it's great to hear you do too. Being recommended is the highest compliment we can receive - thanks so much!
My sister has been in Westgate House for some time. The care she has been given is excellent and the staff are wonderful. The manager and her admin team are always very courteous and helpful. I can highly recommend this care home.
Thank you for leaving us such a lovely review, we really appreciate it. It's a real pleasure caring for your sister and she is a delight to care for. Thank you for recommending us.
My father was cared for by the excellent team at Westgate House for the last three months of his life. He was very well looked after, all his needs were met and he wanted for nothing. Towards the end of his life, when he was getting very frail; the staff understood this and showed a great deal of compassion. I was not there when he passed away but was very comforted to know that one of the nurses held his hand and gave him words of comfort - this was very important to me, and I will be forever grateful. I can highly recommend this care home; it is well run, and the staff really care, it becomes a family.
Thank you for leaving us such a lovely review; the team here really appreciates it. It was an absolute honour caring for your father during his last days. Our condolences to you and your family, he will be missed. If you are ever in the area, do come and join us for one of our events, you and your family are always welcome. Best wishes from everyone here at Westgate House.
My mother has been a resident of Westgate House for almost 5 years. In that time the staff have pretty much remained the same which I take as a real positive in providing consistent care for my mother and as her dementia has progressed her familiarity with the staff provides huge reassurance and comfort to her. The staff are hugely caring and practical, they adapt their care to the individual and get to know what each resident likes and dislikes and what keeps them calm and peaceful if applicable. She enjoys the activities they organise especially anything music-related. I would highly recommend Westgate House as a genuinely caring home with tremendous staff who work well as a team. And I would say it's not a brand new building like others locally but it's all about the people and the atmosphere and the most important person to consider is the resident, I am confident Mum is in the best possible place.
Wow, what a review! We are so thrilled to read how highly you rate our home and the high level of care and staff engagement your mother has received from us. We absolutely love caring for your mother, she is an absolute treasure and is very highly thought of here. As you say, the building isn't new...
My sister moved into Westgate House on 6th April 2023, was very upset about having to leave her home, but now months on, she has made wonderful friends and also knows she is safe and well cared for by all at Westgate House. Westgate House is a wonderful home and I am now content and happy, she is safe and well. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your lovely review and kind words, we really appreciate it. It's lovely having your sister stay with us, and, as you say, the difference in her from when she first arrived to today is incredible. It's so lovely to see how sociable she is with residents and the staff. Do come and say hello next time you visit us, the kettle is always on! Thanks so much.
At the end of Mum’s life, the staff could not have been kinder – the family were able to spend many hours with her. The staff always did whatever they could to ensure she was as comfortable as possible in those last few weeks. I remain very grateful to everyone who looked after Mum and can highly recommend this lovely care home.
Thank you for leaving this lovely review; we really appreciate it. We loved having your mum with us, and we are very sorry for your loss. The staff will be so pleased to hear how highly you rated the care your mum received with us. Thank you once again!
Westgate House is a wonderful place for residents to live in, and for us to visit.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are really proud of our home and we're pleased to hear that you felt this when you were here. We are very sorry for your loss, It was a pleasure to care for your mum.
