Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and
snacks, laundry (excluding dry cleaning),
housekeeping, maintenance and activities run by the
home.
We currently have a welcome offer available for new residents funding their own care at Westgate House. The offer includes free hairdresser/barber services, chiropody, daily newspaper of your choice and toiletry gift set on arrival.

Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

I can't thank the home enough for the professional care given by the staff to our mum. Mum passed away on the 4th of September and the staff and management were absolutely amazing, so supportive right to the end. Mum was a tricky resident and her nearly two years at the home were tough at times due
to going into the home at the height of Covid.

My mum recently moved to Westgate House, she has settled in really well; all down to the excellent support provided by the care and management team. Throughout the process of applying for a place and moving in, she and our family were given every assistance, nothing was too much trouble. Her room is
light, bright and airy with ensuite facilities. The communal areas are excellent too and allow residents and visitors to socialise together. Medical support, prescriptions and regular GP visits are all easily accessible. As a family, we are content that Mum is treated with dignity and respect and has the help she needs in a safe and caring environment.

All the staff were very friendly and made Mum feel at home. She never felt lonely and enjoyed social activities. My husband and I shared a meal downstairs with her once a week - pre-Covid, and were made welcome by everyone. I was impressed by the purpose-built layout of the building, which was important
as Mum was blind, and by the overall cleanliness. She also enjoyed having a hairdresser.

After a previous bad experience at another care home, I was apprehensive about my husband going for respite again but I needn't have worried, the staff were caring and attentive, they even took photos and a video of my husband playing football with two carers in the garden. The care home manager has
to be complimented for her attention to detail, I received reassurance before, during and after my husband's respite stay of two weeks and I wouldn't hesitate to send him there again.

Mum seems very settled in Westgate House, she is well cared for and content. Her care needs seem to be met and the carer I have had most contact with seems genuinely fond of her. The home is clean and tidy, and the staff are very caring and friendly; nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are a good size and well maintained. There is a conservatory area downstairs where they often hold group activities to entertain/occupy the residents.

My mother was very unsettled when she first moved to Westgate but the staff have been patient and friendly and her room is very nice. There is now a wider range of activities for her to enjoy. She enjoys her food and feels safe and secure.

Your task is a difficult one to appease all residents. Most of your staff are delightful, one or two can appear rather abrupt. I was very disappointed to be offered a half-hour visiting time, requiring me to travel from Bath, having not seen my mother for 6 months, and that it was necessary to announce
'you have 4 minutes left' at a time of day we were the last.

If you have a relative with dementia, who displays challenging behaviour common with this disease, this is not the care home for you. Very poor communication on occasions it has taken up to three days to be able to speak to someone about my mum. High emphasis on physical health, low emphasis on mental
health and wellbeing. No support for families.

Daniela

Daniela Midwinter

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

Daniela is the Home Manager of Westgate House. She has over 20 years of experience in the care industry and holds an active PIN for a registered nurse. She has also completed her diploma in nursing which she studied back in her native country, Slovakia.


Daniela has been working in a variety of hospital wards, but her passion has gravitated her towards elderly care. Daniela has been living in the UK since 2004 and joined the Trust in 2020 after being a Nursing Manager in another home for many years. Daniela has previously worked as ‘Head of Care’ and has a great passion for delivering a high standard of care. She moved her way up to the Home Manager role within a year of joining the Trust.


Daniela has attended many different in-house training sessions over the years which has helped her to improve the level of care she delivers, as well as helping her to effectively lead her team and ensure teamwork is thorough throughout.

Rose Ramadhani

Job Title: Head of Care Joined: 2004

Rose is a Registered General and Mental Health Nurse with over 30 years of nursing experience. She also holds the Registered Manager's Award qualification. Having worked at Westgate House for 20 years, Rose is highly dedicated to providing exceptional care.


Rose's passion lies in creating an environment that promotes respect, independence, dignity, involvement, and a sense of belonging and fulfilment for all residents. Roe's extensive experience and commitment to high-quality care are at the heart of her approach to leading the care team at Westgate House.

Marie

Marie Hazell

Job Title: Activity Coordinator Joined: 2021

Marie joined the Trust during the COVID pandemic as a tester and administrator. In 2021, she became the permanent Activities Coordinator (AC). Before joining OSJCT, Marie worked for 20 years at RAF Benson, managing events and social activities, a role that has greatly benefited her work as an AC.


In her spare time, Marie looks after her 11 grandchildren, ranging in age from 3 to 23. She has a passion for arts and crafts, particularly crocheting and knitting, which she incorporates into her role with residents.


Marie’s favourite part of the job is ensuring residents are socially engaged, especially through arts and crafts activities, as well as quizzes!

Lisa

Lisa Goddard

Job Title: Bursar Joined: 2022

Lisa joined the Trust in November 2022 and is the Bursar at Westgate House. Before this, she spent 22 years in domiciliary care as a Care Coordinator, where she handled office responsibilities like rostering, recruitment, payroll, and compliance, while also stepping in to provide care in the field when needed.


Lisa joined OSJCT for a better work-life balance and loves spending time with the residents, saying they are the best part of her role.


In her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her nephew, niece, and family, as well as catching up with friends.

Kirsty

Kirsty McCann

Job Title: Admin Assistant Joined: 2024

Kirsty joined the Trust in March 2024 as an Administrator, after working in admin for a construction company for 20 years. Wanting a more people-focused environment, she made a complete career change. Having previously volunteered in youth centres and with adults with learning difficulties, Kirsty knew she wanted a role in care.


Kirsty uses her skills to manage all clerical tasks and enjoys giving show rounds to visitors. She loves the homely feel of Westgate House and finds working with the residents incredibly rewarding.


Outside of work, Kirsty enjoys walking her Staffy puppy, Betsy, with her husband. She’s also an avid runner, regularly taking part in half marathons and running three times a week.
