The care home had a vibrant atmosphere from the start as my father arrived and joined in the singing activities straight away. The staff were all brilliant, very caring and professional. MY father always felt secure and content and did not complain once in the nine months he was there. We had lots of
personal care regrets in terms of nutrition, and these were nearly always met. We are very grateful to the team for their support and care for my father. Thank you!
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're very pleased to hear that your father felt welcomed from the outset and was able to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and activities, including the singing sessions.
It's especially meaningful to know that he felt secure and content during his time with us, and that the team provided caring and professional support throughout. We also appreciate your comments regarding his nutritional needs and are glad these were listened to and met wherever possible. Your gratitude means a great deal to the whole team, and your feedback will be shared as recognition of their commitment and compassion. Thank you for entrusting us with your father's care.

My uncle was looked after exceptionally well at Henry Cornish. There is a genuine approach to care at Henry Cornish that I did not witness in his previous care home environment. The team are professional, thorough and above all, 'Caring'. Communications throughout his stay were excellent. My uncle passed
away peacefully in December, 2025. He was well looked after. Thank you to all the staff.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreWe're so sorry for your loss, it was an absolute pleasure caring for your uncle and he will be greatly missed. We really appreciate you taking the time to write us such a lovely review of our home, the team and the care your uncle received. Thank you from everyone here at Henry Cornish Care Centre.

My mother is treated with the utmost respect and care. She has been a resident at Henry Cornish since April 2016 and is very happy there. She always comments to me about how lovely the staff are and how well she is treated by them. The management team is first class. Whenever medical issues arise the
response is always timely and appropriate whether by way of treatment by the staff or by way of summoning approrpriate outside agencies should further treatment be required. As her next of kin and holding her Power of Attorney for Health and Welfare, I am always consulted about such matters and whenever there is an issue about Mum's health I am promptly contacted by telephone by the care lead. Activities are arranged which I know the residents love. More of those activities would be appreciated by the residents I am sure. I witnessed a volunteer from the local school assisting with activities recently and she was very enthusiastic and caring.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you for your review of our home and the positive feedback about our management and team at Henry Cornish. It's so good to read how the team keep you in the loop with everything, exactly how it should be. Everyone here will be so thrilled to read how highly we are thought of so thank you so much. It is a real pleasure caring for your mother, as you say she has been with us for nearly ten years and it's been great to getting to know her during this time. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know.

Dad's stay at the Intermediate Care Unit allowed him to be properly assessed for his next placement. Staff are friendly and kind and the manager addressed any concerns very willingly. The unit is clean, fresh and modern. It was good that Dad was able to use the garden and resident's lounge and join
in some of the activities.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you for leaving us a review of the ICU unit, we really appreciate your feedback. My husband who has Alzheimer's attends one day per week for day care. He enjoys his time there and the range of activities he takes part in. The stimulus he receives has made him more communicative. Normally, he seldom initiates conversation. He tells me the staff are very pleasant and helpful, this
has been my experience too with those I have dealt with. It is so helpful to me to know that I can leave him in such a caring atmosphere and knowing that he enjoys it.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you for your kind review of our home and new day care service, we really appreciate it. Being here has proved a very good gap between hospital and home. On the whole the carers have been very good and attentive. I have appreciated the time that the carers have spent talking to me. The food has been ok and there has always been a vegetarian option.

During my regular frequent visits, my Mother frequently comments how carers & wider staff provide consistently dedicated commitment to her ongoing care at the Henry Cornish Care Centre, a fact made more remarkable as she has enjoyed living at Henry Cornish Centre now for many years. I can feel confident
in Mums circumstances as Staff will always contact me directly regarding any concerns so that additional support can be available if needed. Mum this year in particular has enjoyed singing groups, chair based exercise classes & creative groups producing various beautiful arts & craft models. Mum loves the gardens & is daily enjoying seeing her roses included in the ever developing private gardens around the care home. Having reached a significant birthday recently, Mum was delighted at all of the advanced work to create a beautiful party room with decorations prepared by the staff who, joined by all the residents & friends singing & sharing party cakes made the day so special.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you so much for your detailed feedback of our home, it really is appreciated. It is an absolute pleasure caring for your mother and we love how much she gets involved with the activities - especially the arts and crafts. Thank you once again for your very kind words, it means the world to us.

Mum has been in the care home for a few years now due to a fall at home that left her unable to walk again and dementia diagnosis! Apprehensive, with a broken leg I was, at 84, scared on arrival. I soon found myself in a safe and secure environment, in which to recover and regain my confidence. Nurses and carers were kind, professional and encouraging. I was treated with courtesy and considered a person with specific needs and
preferences. In turn I made an effort to know and remember names.

My wife entered the Henry Cornish Care Home for a respite care period of 9 days in September.
However, she had a fall, ended up in hospital for two nights. Once checked over she returned to the care home.
Due to to the fact my wife had lost her ability to get around, even with a walking frame,
she spent a total of 10 weeks in residence and sadly passed away in early December.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.574)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.574) out of 10 for Henry Cornish Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.574 for Henry Cornish Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (257 Excellents x 5) + (128 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 406 Ratings = 4.574
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Henry Cornish Care Centre is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
