My husband was a resident for almost 2 years. He was cared for sensitively and with dignity. Carers built positive relationships with him and treated him with respect. There was always chatter and laughter which created a lively atmosphere. As he became frailer and more withdrawn he was still encouraged
to participate. The staff were always happy to discuss his care. It is a welcoming environment and the professionalism of staff is impressive.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreMany thanks for your kind words, we really appreciate it. The staff will be so thrilled to hear how highly you thought of the care we provided to your husband. We pride ourselves on creating a happy and fun environment, so it's great to hear you felt this. Thanks once again.

Caring, friendly and responsive staff.
They are quick to deal with situations and communicate with family. They are also responsive to questions and requests.
They communicate with Dad (and other residents) in a caring, supportive and positive manner.
If time/resources allowed would want carers to
proactively encourage Dad to exercise/move more.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank for your review, we really appreciate it. We are pleased to read that you are happy with the care and communication you receive from our staff. I will pass your suggestion on to the team and they will look at ways to incorporate this more. Many thanks.

Everyone seems kind and helpful but Mum says things can be chaotic and when she asks for things they don't sometimes appear. She tells me the food is very good. The only time I was concerned was when Mum messaged me about a caring concern. The Henry Cornish team sorted the concern immediately.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you for your review. It is good to know that the team resolved your mum's concerns immediately. Please don't hesitate to contact a member of staff if you or your mum need anything, we are always on hand to help. Many thanks.

We chose Henry Cornish Care Centre because we like the atmosphere when we came to look around - there was laughter and conversation in the resident's lounges, and we were made welcome. Residents said they couldn't ask for better in terms of care and friendliness of staff and other residents, the great
food and activities on offer. Dad's room was cosy and near to the garden, which was a good size. As visitors, we were welcome at any time. Dad had dementia, and we felt the staff coped with him well and that he was safe.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you so much for your wonderful review. It is lovely to hear how positive your dad's experience of our home was. We will ensure that all the staff here at Henry Cornish read your review; they will be so pleased. I'm grateful to know that our team made you feel so welcome when you came to visit and that our residents also recommended us to you. Thank you for sharing!

My mum was only in the home for 48 hours but in that time she was peaceful and so well cared for. The staff were efficient and kept me very well informed and I had every confidence that she was in a restful environment when she passed away peacefully, a nurse was with her. Mum would no longer see the
TV so they changed the channel to Classic FM and she slipped away peacefully.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Henry Cornish Care CentreWe are so sorry for your loss – it was a great honour to be able to care for your mother here at Henry Cornish, even for such a short time. My mother felt very lonely, with a great lack of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and staff support to talk and exercise. Mum's food was always cold which I witnessed on several times. Also several times the water was cold so she got a quick wash in cold water.
Reply from Rowen Campbell, Regional Marketing Manager at Henry Cornish Care CentreI’m sorry your experience of our home has fallen short of the high standards we are used to. Specific decisions relating to physio and occupational therapy are taken by residents’ medical teams and not by our carers at the home. The home manager has seen your feedback and will review the elements that are within our control.

I have spent seven weeks in the intermediate care unit of the Henry Cornish Care Centre having rehabilitation after suffering a hairline fracture in my femur, essentially learning to walk again. I count myself as very lucky indeed to have been referred here, especially as my home is nearby. I have been
treated with great care and consideration by both nurses and carers and I appreciated the opportunity to see a GP each week. The physiotherapists and occupational therapists have been excellent, preparing me for life at home. The food is often very good but sometimes could be healthier.
Reply from Rowen Campbell, Regional Marketing Manager at Henry Cornish Care CentreThank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, and I'm glad to hear you're on the mend. I will pass on your comments to the home manager to share with the team - we do appreciate your feedback.

What a lovely few hours we all had yesterday at Henry Cornish at their annual BBQ. As usual the manager and her team make everyone feel welcome. As a family we were a total of 10 it was lovely, the great grandchildren were as welcome (and catered for with games) as everyone. The pony was a great success.
Can't wait for the next event. I've said it before but its true we are blessed my mum is safe and loved in Henry Cornish.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.574)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.574) out of 10 for Henry Cornish Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.574 for Henry Cornish Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (257 Excellents x 5) + (128 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 406 Ratings = 4.574
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Henry Cornish Care Centre is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
