Care Homes Owned by The Orders of St John Care Trust in West Sussex

Following the review I have already written a few weeks ago, my husband, who had advanced dementia, contracted pneumonia. His breathing difficulties had been spotted by a member of the night staff and immediate action was taken. He was returned from hospital a couple of days later for palliative care. The challenging job of moving him from the hospital to his beautiful, prayerful room in the care home, with his pictures on the walls, without too much trauma was very well managed by both paramedics and Priory care home staff. The carers worked with the district nurse team to ensure my husband felt calm, comfortable and free of pain and although there was a worrying initial delay with this (about an hour) because I understand the district nurse team had not been given the hospital records for my husband, this was resolved and all subsequently went smoothly. The two family members with me and I were given privacy and yet support and compassion.

My Mum was a long-term resident at The Priory, and it seemed entirely appropriate that I should ask whether the Home would hold a small reception - after her Commemoration of Life/Funeral service - so that mourners could see the wonderful surroundings in which Mum had spent the latter part of her life, and fellow residents and staff could have the opportunity to greet the family and say a final farewell.

The management and staff could not have been more welcoming to the idea. The Home was looking magnificent, the residents' dining room had been transformed into a welcoming space, with photos and memorabilia of my Mum for all the guests to see. The food was plentiful and delicious, and the staff had prepared a chocolate cake (Mum's favourite) by way of remembering her, for all to enjoy.

The guests were impressed with the facilities, the welcome and the kindness of all the Priory staff. It was a perfect setting to celebrate Mum's life, which had been enriched by her time at the Home.

Following the death of my mother-in -law, I have already completed a review, however, in March we held the 'wake' at the care home with the permission of the manager. It was truly lovely. Everything they did reflected he care they had given my mother in law throughout her 6 years there. It really was the final thing they could do for her. Thankyou.

Knowing that she is cared for in a loving and safe environment is very reassuring for the whole family.

I have visited one resident regularly and another occasionally. I also bring a group of local people to the Priory to socialise with the residents on a regular basis. I find the staff welcoming and engaged with the residents. The home is kept clean and tidy in the areas that I visit. I understand from the residents that the food is good.

I have nothing but praise for everyone there.

I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support, patience, and kindness they showed throughout her time there. Their commitment made a difficult period so much easier, and I cannot thank them enough.

I have lived in Arundel for 15 years and following a stroke I was discharged from hospital unable to walk. Three different people recommended that I go to The Priory. I was impressed from my first visit, however I visited three alternatives, but came back to enjoy the views and facilities of the Priory. Excellent management and caring staff, varying from energetic youth to mature and experienced carers. Any requests are immediately attended to. I am delighted to be here.

Staff are very caring and friendly. Residents are treated as individuals and their personal preferences considered. Residents' activities are imaginative and supported by a team of lovely volunteers.

Whenever I visit my stepmum, everyone is always welcoming and happy to help or answer any concerns. I can tell that the staff take good care of the residents too. My stepmum is very happy and settled there which is all you can wish for.

The residents and their families are so supportive of all our activities and are always willing to assist on trips to theatre, gardens and Castke events

I have been deeply impressed with the quality of care for my mother at St Wilfred's. The staff manage to create a friendly and stimulating environment while at the same time providing first class care. It has made my mother feel very much at home in her new surroundings.

St.Wifrid's is a first rate care home with a family feel. Residents individual needs are catered for by kind, encouraging and dedicated staff. Nothing is too much trouble and the residents feel safe and happy in their care. Activities such as crafting, playing games and seated exercises take place each day with key events being celebrated as a community eg birthdays, Valentine's Day etc . It gives relatives great piece of mind to know that their loved ones are being cared for in such a loving, caring environment.

My grandmother Carol has been at St Wilfreds for over a year now and they have been fantastic. She has dementia and can be a handful but all the carers are patient and kind with her. The manager has always been very welcoming.

I can honestly say it is a home from home.

My mother has been a resident of St Wilfrid's Priory Care Home for 7 months now and the whole family are very happy with the care she is receiving. The staff are always very friendly, the home cooked food is of a very high standard and they are kept entertained with various activities organised by the staff and volunteers.

A wonderful care home, with fantastic staff. The setting is a beautiful building with amazing surroundings and garden. The residents' rooms (flats) are spacious, airy, great views, a real home from home. A lovely large residents lounge, dining/games room, with home touches everywhere. The staff are caring, friendly and provide the gold standard in care. Extremely varied activities with something to suit everyone, from gardening to crafting, baking to reading, music to table top games and much more. Group activities and one to one. Everyone works so hard and more, to provide residents with care, respect, happiness and dignity. Highly recommend.

After eight weeks in hospital my mum moved into St Wilfrid's, she has now been there for two months. The transition from living independently was smooth and from the moment she arrived she was made to feel very welcome. All of the staff are very friendly, polite, caring and compassionate. I am so happy that she has settled into her new home and is content and happy.
