Poor communication to residents when issues occur ie staff shortages
Poor notification about meals if the resident doesnt go to dining room for breakfast.
Loss of clothes in laundry
Invisibility of management.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, on behalf of the team at Millbrook Lodge

We appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback. We will speak to the team about ensuring residents are always aware of meal options, wherever they are. Clothes do sometimes go missing due to incorrect labelling, which is we why operate a find or replace policy. We're sorry you felt you didn't get much time with management. The managers always do their best to spend as much time with residents' families as possible. If you would like to discuss further, please do give us a call.

After my father passed away, my stepmother (with mobility issues and dementia) could no longer stay in the family home. She arrived at Millbrook Lodge in July 2023 and remained until her passing in February 2024.
Her care was good and all the staff was friendly and caring. Upon arriving everyone was
welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
I have no hesitation in saying that her final months were as comfortable as they could be and her care was very good.
Although self-funding, her room I felt was quite small, other rooms were bigger, but given that she was unable to move well, it was on reflection sufficient for her needs. If you are self-funding it is not cheap, but I felt that it was money well spent to care for someone as well as she was.
My thanks to everyone at Millbrook Lodge for everything they did for her. It was very much appreciated.

Care very good, sometimes it seems as if they are short of staff can only have a bath when more staff are on duty.
Meals a good selection. Vegetables sometimes very watery.
Activities very good, sorry it isn't every day.
Being able to go out in the fresh air for 5 minutes would be lovely.
I feel
very lucky to be here as it is more like a hotel than a "home." Thank you very much.

We were happy that Mum came to Millbrook Lodge so she was safe and cared for 24 hours a day. Although she didn't actively partake in activities it was often offered to her. All staff on the Leckhampton Unit were kind, caring and patient, even though she could be stubborn and difficult at times. The
room was always clean and Mum was helped with hygiene regularly and kept comfortable.

We are very pleased with the care that my brother is getting at Millbrook Lodge. His health was very poor when he moved in, but it has improved considerably. A lot to do with this is the care and attention that he has been receiving. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.

During the short time my mother spent at Millbrook Lodge both she and I were treated with the utmost kindness and respect. The caring shown at all times was excellent. Upon her death in the home, the compassion shown to myself and my husband by all the staff we encountered was amazing and greatly helped
us to deal with a very sad situation. We came away with a very positive feeling for the wonderful staff there.

Although my mother was only a resident for a very short time (she had a major stroke 10 days after arrival) my wife and I were hugely impressed by every aspect of her care. All staff displayed the highest standards of professionalism and consistently ensured that she remained comfortable and that all
her needs were met. Following her stroke, she became totally unresponsive and it was clear that the end of her life was approaching. My wife and I were able to stay with her almost constantly and were fully supported in doing so. During this difficult time she was treated with respect and compassion and no efforts were spared in ensuring that her passing was managed with dignity and concern for her privacy. All members of staff demonstrated high levels of skill and proactive teamwork, and it would be very difficult to single out any aspect requiring improvement. We can honestly say that we can unreservedly commend Millbrook Lodge as a true centre of excellence in its field.

Mum has been here for ten months. In that time she has been well looked after. Shortly after moving in the family was supported in helping mum celebrate her 90th birthday. Now that Covid has been reduced the home is opening up more. Some of the staff made a special effort to celebrate the coronation.
Residents were treated to afternoon tea and entertainment and it was a good opportunity to meet some of the relatives.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.866)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.866) out of 10 for Millbrook Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.403 for Millbrook Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.403
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.463 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Millbrook Lodge is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.563
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
