My mother has been very poorly over the last 2 - 3 months.
The staff have been so caring, supportive and helpful.
I have been fully informed and involved in what has been happening at all stages.
It is a tremendous relief to know that mum is receiving such marvellous care.

I couldn't wish for more.

Millbrook is welcoming, friendly and a wonderful place for our mum to be.
She is so well looked after by all the carers, thank you all.
My sister and I know our mum is safe, happy and we know also that we are informed at all times in mum's care and any worries she may have.
Millbrook is like our second home and we always feel welcome and happy here.
Thanks to all the wonderful staff and carers for their kindness and continued support.

We would always recommend Millbrook to all.

I have treated very well by all the staff who are cheerful and respectful at all times even when understaffed. This is a great achievement as over 50% of residents are in big chairs unable to talk or indicate what they are feeling.

The standard of care her is very high even with "difficult" residents who suffer from dementia.

The food I find is very good. Choices are usually available which is important since different personal tastes need to be catered for and are. But it is not a cheap home.

Our dear friend, aged 93, was a short-term resident in Millbrook Lodge after being placed there for palliative care. She was fairly poorly for most of her stay, but very alert and aware of all that was going on. She lived at home independently for the past 40 years and we were concerned as to how she would find living in a nursing home.
However, we need not have worried, as the care she received was first class and her final six weeks were as good as they could have been and she very happy. We witnessed on many occasions the great care that all the staff took in looking after our friend and the other residents. Nothing was too much trouble and we were especially impressed with the dedicated nurses, who showed great skills in managing her failing health. Also, on our frequent visits, we felt part of the family.

Overall, the care that our friend received was superb and we cannot thank the staff enough for all they did for her. This is a great nursing home.

On entering the home, you find it always fresh and clean with information readily displayed throughout the building. The staff, without exception, are welcoming, friendly and supportive of the residents and visiting family. Refreshments are readily available again for both residents and visitors. Meals for visitors are always offered, a reminder that the Lodge is the resident's home. Activities are well organised and very varied and try to involve as many capable residents as possible.

Having seen three nursing homes, I had no hesitation in placing mum at Millbrook Lodge. I know that the staff take every opportunity to care for the residents. All the staff are friendly and caring, creating a great environment for everyone. Due to the complexities and conditions of the various residents, I can see however difficult the requirements, they maintain their care throughout. Entertainment plays a major part in keeping them busy, occupied and making their days worthwhile.

The past few months have been very difficult for us as a family, however, our turning point in dealing with my nan's condition was when she came to stay at Millbrook Lodge, she was happier, more content and as a family, we felt very supported with her care. The management team are truly fantastic. The staff at the nursing home are absolutely amazing. The premises and gardens are lovely. We are a very large family with young children and during my nan's stay in hospital we found it very hard to visit during the very restricted visiting hours but now at Millbrook Lodge, the staff welcome our family and allow us to visit my nan as we would in her own home.

We have commented honestly below. During the seven years Mum had been living in Millbrook Lodge we have never had a reason to complain. All of the carers, especially the nurses have always cared for Mum in the best possible way. The staff and management to us and in our option have always been helpful and well organised. When Mum was able she enjoyed the activities she attended. We are grateful to all concerned who cared for mum during her seven year stay.

I have to say that over the years I have dealt with many care/nursing homes and Millbrook Lodge is exceptional. They have cared for my aunt through the end of her life with great love and sensitivity. Nothing is too much trouble - a true partnership between relatives and the home.

We count ourselves extremely lucky to have found this home and would rate it as excellent in all respects. It is truly what a nursing home should be like - well done to all, you should be very proud of what you deliver.

Review from Elizabeth B (Partner of Resident) published on 16 May 2016 Submitted via Website

My partner received palliative and end of life care at Millbrook Lodge. The treatment he received was fantastic. I could not have got through it without the wonderful staff. They also looked after me extremely well. They were all so kind and thoughtful.
Millbrook Lodge is about 5 minutes from home which was an added bonus, but had it been further it would still have been worth a journey, just to see my partner looking so much more comfortable was a blessing. He was treated with great dignity throughout his illness, and was always kept clean and comfortable. As he neared the end of his life we were treated with compassion and sympathy.

There is no way I could ever thank them enough for the care they showed us, and I am sure my partner would have wanted me to also thank them on his behalf. I would highly recommend Millbrook Lodge to anyone.

My mother was a resident from 31 Dec 15 until she died on 20 March. The care provided to her at Millbrook through the staff on Birdlip Wing was exemplary. My mother had suffered a massive stroke and she was wholly dependant for everything. The staff saw her every need was met with care and consideration. While my mother had little awareness of her situation, everyone at Millbrook did their utmost to ensure that she got the best of treatment. She was always treated in a caring and dignified manner with the staff always prepared to go the extra mile to make her life at Millbrook the best it could be.
