Millbrook Lodge offers up to 80 residents compassionate, individualised residential, nursing and respite care in a modern, comfortable environment. Opened in 2010, the home is situated close to the centre of Brockworth, an attractive village just a few miles east of Gloucester.

This modern home has been designed with your well-being and comfort in mind. Cosy lounges are available to relax in, as are the secure gardens to take advantage of on sunny days and social activities take place daily for your enjoyment. If however, you'd like a little more privacy, then your own spacious bed-sitting room, with en suite facilities, offers a peaceful oasis. To give you the support you need when you need it, a friendly, professionally trained team are on hand around-the-clock to support you in how you wish to spend your day enabling you to continue to enjoy a fulfilling and independent lifestyle.

Dedicated Activities Coordinators organise a varied programme of events around each individual's requests, hobbies and interests. The team will be delighted to assist you to continue with existing pastimes, as well as give you the opportunity to try something new if you would like to. They make sure everyone is able to enjoy themselves to the fullest, be that with arts and crafts, a coffee morning or more individual pursuits. Visits from outside entertainers happen regularly. The home has its own minibus for trips out.

A talented cook and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and take into account individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.

Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

When it was arranged for my Nan to go to Millbrook I was very happy due to my other Nan spent her time there before passing.
However, it had become apparent they have lost the personal care they used to have with a severe lack of compassion and thoughts to the residents. With a lack of empathy and
clarity in communication through the outbreak.

I feel very lonely. I have been bedridden for nearly a year and staff rarely have time to talk to me. They often just talk among themselves when providing personal care and sometimes tell me to be quiet when I try to talk to them. I have anxiety and depression.
I can rarely see a doctor and I'm unable
to see a dentist or an optician.

Life is different with 4 months in isolation. Just for the last couple of weeks we can have one member of the family at a time for 15 minutes by appointment out in the garden. It's not the same here.

I have only been a resident since March 2020. I have settled well enough and find the carers extremely helpful and so kind when I feel I need some sympathy. Not often though. When things are normal again, I look forward to visits to church, the library and just being out! I love walking in our gardens
and now have a flower bed - of my own! I am very lucky to be still mobile (with a trolley) and at present require little help.

We would like to thank the staff in Birdlip at Millbrook Lodge for the marvellous care given to our mother.
She had happy times with kind friends and we could not have hoped for better care shown by the staff that made mum’s last years so comfortable and a home from home feel.

The staff have been so caring, supportive and helpful.

She is so well looked after by all the carers, thank you all.

I have treated very well by all the staff who are cheerful and respectful at all times even when understaffed. This is a great achievement as over 50% of residents are in big chairs unable to talk or indicate what they are feeling.

Dad was always a true gentleman and with thanks to the care and respect shown by everyone from the start of his journey until the end was truly excellent. I would recommend in a second this care home. Three words is all that is left to say: 'simply the best'.

The standard of care her is very high even with "difficult" residents who suffer from dementia.
The food I find is very good. Choices are usually available which is important since different personal tastes need to be catered for and are. But it is not a cheap home.

Our dear friend, aged 93, was a short-term resident in Millbrook Lodge after being placed there for palliative care. She was fairly poorly for most of her stay, but very alert and aware of all that was going on. She lived at home independently for the past 40 years and we were concerned as to how she
would find living in a nursing home.
However, we need not have worried, as the care she received was first class and her final six weeks were as good as they could have been and she very happy. We witnessed on many occasions the great care that all the staff took in looking after our friend and the other residents. Nothing was too much trouble and we were especially impressed with the dedicated nurses, who showed great skills in managing her failing health. Also, on our frequent visits, we felt part of the family.
Overall, the care that our friend received was superb and we cannot thank the staff enough for all they did for her. This is a great nursing home.

On entering the home, you find it always fresh and clean with information readily displayed throughout the building. The staff, without exception, are welcoming, friendly and supportive of the residents and visiting family. Refreshments are readily available again for both residents and visitors. Meals
for visitors are always offered, a reminder that the Lodge is the resident's home. Activities are well organised and very varied and try to involve as many capable residents as possible.

Robin

Robin Willmott

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2014

The residents at Millbrook Lodge are cared for by a highly dedicated and professional team of employees which includes Nurses, Care Leaders, Carers, Administrators, Housekeepers and the Catering Team. They are all led and supported by both the Deputy Home Manager and General Manager.


Robin came to Millbrook Lodge from the NHS where he had worked since qualifying as a Nurse. Within the NHS Robin had worked in inpatient services, the community mental health team and latterly worked for 5 years as a Dementia Education Nurse. Robin has been published in the Journal of Dementia Care and runs courses on aspects of Dementia and end of life care.


As well as carrying the Registered Mental Nurse qualification Robin holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology with a focus on supporting older people through therapy. Robin also holds a B.Sc in Nursing and is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.


Robin expects high standards of person-centred care from his team and works with his colleagues to ensure that Millbrook Lodge has a homely, relaxed atmosphere for all of the residents.

Hayley

Hayley Taylor

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2009

Hayley Taylor is the Deputy Home Manager at The Orders of St John Care Trust’s Millbrook Lodge in Gloucestershire and has 15 years of experience working in the Care Sector.


Hayley is passionate about her role and loves that the role provides different challenges every day. Meeting new and interesting people whilst doing something positive for someone in need is a passion of Hayley’s and she is proud this is something she gets to do every day.


Hayley has worked for OSJCT since 2009 and has a Level 3 in Leadership for Health and Social Care.

Alison Johns is the Senior Nurse at The Orders of St John Care Trust’s Millbrook Lodge in Wiltshire and has 13 years of experience working in the Care Sector.


Alison is extremely passionate about her role and likes working in a team that is dedicated to ensuring a quality of life for ALL of the home's residents. There is a lot of fun and laughter at the home which makes for a lovely atmosphere.


Alison has a few hobbies that occupy her spare time, they are card making and scrapbooking as well as cooking. The Home Manager has had me make a curry for the staff curry night! She also likes to socialise with colleagues and enjoy a good natter!


Alison has worked for OSJCT since 2005 and is a Registered General Nurse.
