My Dad has been on Maple unit in Chestnut Court for 3 years now. The staff on his ward are fabulous!! Nothing is ever too much trouble. They are very professional but also very caring & loving towards my Dad, in fact all the people in their care. Everyone from the domestics to the care leads are wonderful.
Chestnut Court Maple ward was the best decision I made for my Dad and I can not thank them enough. Both their caring & medical knowledge is excellent. Thank you.

I can't thank Chestnut Court enough! My Mum would have preferred to stay at home forever but, the transition between home (Wales) and moving in last Friday has been seamless thanks to the Whole Team effort.

She is settled, interacting, communicating better, seems very happy already and is thankful

that we have brought her here.

Immediately her care needs have been addressed and the staff have been so patient and caring with her (and me). I am certainly sleeping better knowing that she is being looked after.

My Mums' smile is back! Thank you!

Reply from Steve Gardner-Collins, On behalf of the team at Chestnut CourtThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review. It truly means a lot to the whole team at Chestnut Court. We understand how significant a move like this can be, especially when it involves leaving a much-loved home, so we're really pleased to hear that the transition has felt smooth and reassuring for both you and your mum. It's wonderful to know she's settling in well, engaging with others, and already feeling happy and supported. Our team takes great pride in providing compassionate, person-centred care, so your feedback about their patience and kindness is incredibly appreciated. We're also so glad to hear that you're able to rest easier knowing she's in safe hands, that's just as important. Seeing your mum's smile return is exactly why we do what we do. Thank you again for trusting us with her care.

The kindness and respect the staff give to my mum is wonderful. Always walk in the room with a smile and a welcoming greeting. Include mum in activities even though she's bed bound - they get her out of bed regularly. The staff always have kind words and a hug as been a difficult few weeks. Can't thank
them enough.

We also truly appreciate your recognition of the team's compassion during what sounds like a difficult time. Those small gestures, a smile, kind words, or a hug - can mean so much, and we're glad they've brought comfort to both you and your mum. Thank you again for your trust and support.

Mum feels as she is at her home, she absolutely love it to be at Chestnut Court considering she was admitted for receiving of end of life care. Now she sits in the chair, enjoying herself every day, which is amazing. Mum never wanted to go to the care home but she is very happy here and us as the family,
we don't mind to travel further as we can sse that Mum is very well cared for. She picked up 200%. She is eating and drinking well, food is excellent. Mum is on nursing household and the staff are all very friendly, they always have time for mum and they make me feel welcome every single day, they ask me if I'm OK, they always offer me food or drink. We can not fault anyone in this home. We would recommend Chestnut Court 100%.
Reply from Steve Gardner-Collins, On behalf of the team at Chestnut CourtThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. It truly means a great deal to our whole team to hear about your mum's positive experience at Chestnut Court. We are delighted to know that your mum now feels so comfortable and at home with us, especially after what must have been a very difficult time when she was first admitted for end-of-life care. Hearing that she is now enjoying her days, sitting comfortably, eating and drinking well, and feeling happy is incredibly special for our staff. Your comment that she has "picked up 200%" is wonderful to read and reflects the dedication of our nursing and care teams. It's also lovely to hear that you feel welcomed and supported when you visit. We believe that caring for our residents also means supporting their families, so it means a lot to know that our team takes the time to check in with you and make you feel comfortable whenever you are here. Mum is in chestnut court for a care assessment regarding her care needs. We have been very pleased with the diligent and quick turnaround process from being in hospital to being at chestnut court. We are very grateful that mums care needs were welcomed and processed very quickly for her benefit. All
The staff from the different departments are very kind and helpful and have responded to her needs very well. She is very content at chestnut court and grateful for the medical care and her individual needs. The care and nursing staff are very helpful kind and considerate to mum. The room is clean and fully aired and all the things that were not there were rectified by the maintenance staff promptly. We have added a few things from home and mum says it feels like home to her. Mum is enjoying the food and the routine of sitting at the table with the other residents. It's very much a family atmosphere. We are very grateful and the peace of mind that mum is cared for 24/7 is a relief for us.

My aunt has been in Ash since November 2025. She went for respite due to the hospitalisation of her husband. When the time came the staff at Chestnut Court did all they could to accommodate him in Beech so he could end his life with my aunt. My uncle's needs were extremely complex and his care very
time consuming. During his last hours the nurses and carers made him comfortable, calling Rapid Response to ensure his end of life was as easy as possible. The staff showed my aunt a great deal of empathy and supported her at all times (and still are now), making sure she was offered meals, drinks, cuddles and listening ears. Michelle, the nurse who nursed my uncle at to end of life, demonstrated a very high level of dedication, working many extra hours to call the funeral director, prepare my uncle for collection, keep us, his family updated whilst supporting my aunt. Everyone is just so friendly and has made my aunt and the family, including the dog, very welcome and at home.
Reply from Steve Gardner-Collins, On behalf of the team at Chestnut CourtThank you for sharing your experience. We're so sorry for your loss and are grateful for your kind words. It's wonderful to hear how our teams at Chestnut Court and Beech supported your aunt and uncle with compassion, comfort, and dignity. We'll be sure to share your feedback with Michelle and the team, who will be touched to know how much their care meant to your family. Thank you again for recognising their dedication.

The care and support we received from Chestnut Court for both our parents and us as a family was absolutely incredible. They allowed us to make it 'our home' as well as mums, with all the care staff, nurses and management making us extremely welcome. We loved the home made food cooked on site with barely
a day going by where we weren't offered something whether it be food or hot drinks. We also loved the welcoming touch of a coffee machine & homemade cakes in the reception and the beautiful gardens we could sit in and enjoy. A wonderful care home.

Telephone communication out of hours (office hours) is very poor. Needs improvement, eg better staff training in the use of the phone system.
Access out of office hours needs improving, it can be very hard to gain access/ eg next to the building. Staff seem to think "it's someone else's problem".
General
care is very good, compassionate & sympathetic & gentle.

One of the most upsetting, stressful, emotional decisions in life is having to make the decision to put a loved one into care. The main reason I picked Chestnut Court, Glos, for my dear husband was because of the lovely, friendly, homely, happy atmosphere that came across for reception staff, carers,
and nurses. He was surprisingly settled very quickly. The carers, nurses, and lead nurses at Willow Household are absolutely brilliant and exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble and I personally understand fully, how difficult it can be when dealing with dementia and personality disorders. They have been such a wonderful support to my husband, myself and my family. I cannot thank them enough.

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.826 for Chestnut Court is calculated as follows: ( (284 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 334 Ratings = 4.826
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestnut Court is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
