Chestnut Court offers up to 80 residents compassionate, individualised nursing, dementia and respite care in a modern, comfortable environment. Opened in 2009, the home is in an attractive residential area, close to all local amenities in Quedgeley.

This modern home radiates a homely atmosphere. With your comfort and well-being in mind, this welcoming home is designed around four 'households'. You will find somewhere to relax or socialise with family and friends from your own spacious bed-sitting room, with en-suite facilities, to communal lounge and dining areas which are light, bright and comfortable.

Interesting scents, shapes and colours are provided all year round in their landscaped gardens. There are raised planting beds so you can join in the gardening activities if you so wish. To give you the support you need when you need it, a friendly, professionally trained team are on hand around-the-clock to support you in how you wish to spend your day enabling you to continue to enjoy a fulfilling and independent lifestyle.

Dedicated Activities Coordinators organise a varied programme of events around each individual's requests, hobbies and interests. The team will be delighted to assist you to continue with existing pastimes, as well as give you the opportunity to try something new if you would like to. They make sure everyone is able to enjoy themselves to the fullest, be that with arts and crafts, a coffee morning or more individual pursuits. Visits from outside entertainers happen regularly. The home has access to a Trust minibus for trips out.

A talented cook and kitchen team prepares tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly-prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and take into account individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.

The care and support we received from Chestnut Court for both our parents and us as a family was absolutely incredible. They allowed us to make it 'our home' as well as mums, with all the care staff, nurses and management making us extremely welcome. We loved the home made food cooked on site with barely
a day going by where we weren't offered something whether it be food or hot drinks. We also loved the welcoming touch of a coffee machine & homemade cakes in the reception and the beautiful gardens we could sit in and enjoy. A wonderful care home.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, on behalf of the team at Chestnut CourtThank you so much for sharing this wonderful review. We're so pleased that you enjoyed the food and the beautiful gardens. It's particularly lovely to hear that Chestnut Court felt like your home as well as your Mum's, and your kind words really mean so much to the whole team.

Telephone communication out of hours (office hours) is very poor. Needs improvement, eg better staff training in the use of the phone system.
Access out of office hours needs improving, it can be very hard to gain access/ eg next to the building. Staff seem to think "it's someone else's problem".
General
care is very good, compassionate & sympathetic & gentle.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, on behalf of the team at Chestnut CourtThank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback, which we really appreciate. We're pleased you're so happy with the standard of care at Chestnut Court, but are sorry to hear you've found it challenging to communicate with and access the home outside of office hours. We are actively working to resolve the issues around telecommunication to ensure these problems do not recur in the future.

One of the most upsetting, stressful, emotional decisions in life is having to make the decision to put a loved one into care. The main reason I picked Chestnut Court, Glos, for my dear husband was because of the lovely, friendly, homely, happy atmosphere that came across for reception staff, carers,
and nurses. He was surprisingly settled very quickly. The carers, nurses, and lead nurses at Willow Household are absolutely brilliant and exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble and I personally understand fully, how difficult it can be when dealing with dementia and personality disorders. They have been such a wonderful support to my husband, myself and my family. I cannot thank them enough.
Reply from Rowen Campbell, on behalf of the team at Chestnut CourtWe appreciate your kind words and that you've taken the time to share your experiences of making that decision. I'm sure this will be very reassuring to read for others in a similar position. Please don't hesitate to ask if there is anything more we can do to support your family.

My Father settled in quickly at Chestnut Court Residential unit (Ash) mainly due to the relaxed atmosphere, pleasant surroundings, and the friendliness and professionalism of the carers, following advice from the care team my Father was moved to the Dementia Unit (Maple), this proved to be a good move
as he started joining in the activities and became more content.
I would like to thank all the staff (carers and admin) at Chestnut Court my sincere thanks for all their help and understanding.

During the time my Father-in-law was a resident at Chestnut Court, he was very well cared for by all members of staff. It could have been the carers, domestics, or the activities coordinators who would engage with him, be it a wave, a chat, or just a smile which made him feel safe and at home.
Thank
you, everyone at Chestnut Court!

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.721)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.721) out of 10 for Chestnut Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.746 for Chestnut Court is calculated as follows: ( (178 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 228 Ratings = 4.746
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestnut Court is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
