Chestnut Court offers up to 80 residents compassionate, individualised nursing, dementia and respite care in a modern, comfortable environment. Opened in 2009, the home is in an attractive residential area, close to all local amenities in Quedgeley.

This modern home radiates a homely atmosphere. With your comfort and well-being in mind, this welcoming home is designed around four 'households'. You will find somewhere to relax or socialise with family and friends from your own spacious bed-sitting room, with en-suite facilities, to communal lounge and dining areas which are light, bright and comfortable.

Interesting scents, shapes and colours are provided all year round in their landscaped gardens. There are raised planting beds so you can join in the gardening activities if you so wish. To give you the support you need when you need it, a friendly, professionally trained team are on hand around-the-clock to support you in how you wish to spend your day enabling you to continue to enjoy a fulfilling and independent lifestyle.

Dedicated Activities Coordinators organise a varied programme of events around each individual's requests, hobbies and interests. The team will be delighted to assist you to continue with existing pastimes, as well as give you the opportunity to try something new if you would like to. They make sure everyone is able to enjoy themselves to the fullest, be that with arts and crafts, a coffee morning or more individual pursuits. Visits from outside entertainers happen regularly. The home has access to a Trust minibus for trips out.

A talented cook and kitchen team prepares tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly-prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and take into account individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.

Quite comfortable, open spaces not too closed in, not too many rules and freedom to move around - go out. Can be noisy at night but wants to stay as long as possible.

2 and a half to 3 years ago when my relation first resided, we could not fault the home in any way.

It started going downhill after the manager left. Administration of the home declined and has continued downwards. Staff shortages regularly occur, notes of events are not made or passed on to changeover

staff. Equipment not maintained, décor needs attention. The hardcore of regular staff members are good but they do not get appropriate backing. The moral seems poor.
Reply from Elaine Brewster, PR & Comms Manager at Chestnut CourtThank you for taking the time to review our home. We acknowledge the issues you have raised and we have already taken steps to make the necessary improvements. Our Area Operations Manager is now running the home, working to a detailed action plan and managing rotas to ensure safe staffing levels. In addition, we have six full-time carers currently undergoing training and recruitment is ongoing. Activities provision is also being reviewed as part of the action plan. We do hope that you will start to notice the positive changes we are making, but please do speak to the Home Manager if you have any further concerns. Tracy Nurding, Area Operations Manager

My mother was admitted to Chestnut Court in October 2016. From the outset, she was treated with extreme kindness and care. The care staff from the management down to Mum's lovely carers was exceptional. The hairdresser doing my Mum's hair every week is also a very kind and caring woman. She gave Mum
back some standards. Mum was very happy at Chestnut court and that was so important to us. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.721)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.721) out of 10 for Chestnut Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.746 for Chestnut Court is calculated as follows: ( (178 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 228 Ratings = 4.746
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestnut Court is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
