Andrea began her career with the Trust in September 1995 as a relief carer working in the residential and nursing unit, gaining invaluable experience working with the nursing team. Andrea went on to be promoted to the role of Senior Carer and, at that time, achieved her NVQ Level 2. Andrea then went on to become a Care Leader and achieved her NVQ Level 3. Andrea later became a Home Manager and achieved her QCF Diploma Level 5.
Andrea loves coming to work and has an excellent bond with her team and the residents. Andrea has an open-door policy and welcomes anyone who would like to meet with her.
One of the fond memories is meeting the Duke of Gloucester, which was an amazing day, and the residents and families loved it!
Andrea loves meeting new people and enjoys the fact that she is helping and supporting others.
Andrea has lots of hobbies, enjoys being a mother, keeping fit and being very sociable.
I started working at Beckside as a bank carer in August 2000. I found that caring for people and being able to enhance their lives was rewarding, so I took a permanent position where I worked predominantly with nursing clients. After a few years, I progressed to a senior carer, which gave me a better understanding
After several years, I decided that I would like to enhance my knowledge to ensure that the residents were getting the best care and enrolled in a nursing degree.
After completing my degree, I worked away from Beckside for a short period, but I missed the environment and the rapport that is built with our residents and families. When offered the opportunity to return to Beckside full-time, I agreed immediately.
I returned as a night nurse before taking secondment as Clinical lead, and I then accepted the role of Deputy Manager, which allows me to support Andrea to maintain the high standards that Beckside offer.
I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to return. It feels like home!
Sue is the Head Housekeeper at Beckside and has worked in the care industry for seven years, five of which have been at Beckside, where she achieved her NVQ 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.
Sue's day is varied, and she works hard with her team to ensure that the day-to-day running and cleaning of the home is adhered to. The most exciting part for her is when visitors say positive things about the home.
After many years of working as a Sales Manager both in fitness and footwear, Sue decided she wanted to take on another challenge, so she trained and went to study as a Therapeutic Counsellor, where she gained her Diploma, alongside other qualifications linked with counselling.
Sue also has qualifications, including the Care Activities Organiser Certificate and a Level 3 in an End of Life Course.
When Sue is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, eating out and playing with her four grandchildren.
A little unknown fact about Sue is that she used to be an ear model!
Shirley is the Activity Coordinator at Beckside Care home.
