Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and

Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

My brother was admitted for end-of-life care. He was treated with the utmost dignity by the staff, who were excellent in every department. Nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere of the home exuded happiness and good humour. Home is the correct title for this facility, which is run in a professional

The whole team at Beckside Care Home were simply superb, caring for my dad in the last weeks of his life. His room was comfortable and had all the facilities he needed. The gardens/patio area was a particular highlight and is a great place for residents to get some fresh air and sunshine. The staff
were attentive and compassionate at all times. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you everyone at Beckside.

My dad was looked after by the staff at Beckside for the last 3 weeks of his life. The home is immaculate, the staff are the most caring and compassionate people I could have wished to be looking after my dad. Nothing was too much trouble and they didn't just look after him they looked after us too.
Fate took us to Beckside so the staff could take care of him!

My Nanna spent 3 months in Beckside to rehabilitate after a short stay in hospital. She settled so well at Beckside and loved the staff and they treated her so well. They are so caring, fun and respectful to the needs of the residents, nothing was too much trouble for them. There were different activities
every day for everyone to join and the lady that runs the entertainment loves to have fun and get everyone involved. Nanna loved her time in Beckside and she thrived and when her health deteriorated she wanted to stay with her Beckside family around her rather than go back to hospital. When the end was near all the staff at Beckside couldn’t have been more supportive and accommodating to her family and made us feel welcome at any time of the day. They really cared about giving their resident the best experience and I can honestly say they delivered 100%. I can not recommend them more highly - thank you to all the team!

Beckside Nursing Home is a team. A team that offers outstanding care, support and professionalism of the highest order. My mum's recent stay, prior to her sad passing, is full of wonderful care that meant her entire time at Beckside was a blessing to her and also to us. Words like care, support and
dignity are overused by some care homes, here it is and understatement. I cannot thank Beckside enough. Outstanding.

Visited my brother-in-law regularly at Beckside, he could not praise the place/staff highly enough, he was so happy there and the staff were always so caring, nothing was too much trouble for them. After a couple of weeks, mum had settled into the care home, helped by the very friendly and caring staff. I think being here made her feel safe again after living by herself for many years. She enjoyed the activities which we hoped she would, as this was one of the reasons we chose this particular
home. She loved the food, especially the puddings as they always had one thing with custard, her favourite. As mum progressed through her illness, further care was given so that she stayed mobile and was included in the group to the end. One of the last times we saw her before she became bedridden was her playing tennis, with a balloon. Happy memories helped by very caring staff.

My dad was admitted to Beckside for end-of-life nursing care. The staff were really accommodating to Dad and our family, and they provided excellent holistic care. In my opinion, they went over and above. Our views were listened to and taken into account when decisions needed to be made in Dad’s best
interests. I want to thank the staff (especially two particular members of staff) for their help through such a difficult time in our lives as a family.

Beckside is a wonderful care home. My mum came here in 2020 for end of life care, and when dad became poorly in February this year, we did not hesitate to contact them again. He had stayed for respite weeks before and loved the jokes and banter with the amazing care team and nurses, who are exceptional.
A massive thank you goes to the deputy manager, who is incredible in her role and goes above and beyond to help residents and their families, making sure all needs are met. We will always hold Beckside close to our hearts, so to everyone, thank you.

My mum was very reluctant to go into a care home, and I searched a few but was recommended to look at Beckside by a couple of friends and I am so glad that mum lived there for over three years. She quickly overcame her reluctance because she was clearly having a marvellous time and was full of stories
about what activities she had been up to and the chats she'd been having with the staff. Of course, covid hit, but the staff worked hard to overcome the obstacles that presented. As I don't live nearby I made irregular visits, but I was always welcomed by all the staff and had great support from everyone I felt I got to know the staff well and felt completely reassured that they were looking after mum with such care - and humour, which she loved! In particular, the Head of Care and mum's named key workers were sensitive to her needs - and mine, and I will never forget the kindness mum and I were shown by them.

Mum was transferred to Beckside from hospital for palliative care. She was very frail and had complex medical needs. She settled very quickly and appreciated the view from her room over the park. The care from the home's staff was of a very high standard and she was as comfortable as it was possible
for her to be. When a problem arose that needed more expertise the nurse on duty acted promptly and effectively contacting the Hospice who enabled the staff at Beckside to resolve the issues and ensure that mum died peacefully with her pain and other needs met. We as a family are very grateful to Beckside for being able to visit mum daily and for the way they kept us informed of mum's condition. The staff demonstrated kindness and compassion to mum as well as to all the family when they visited.
For the duration of mum's stay due to covid restrictions, we did not leave her room to see the home outside her room.

Andrea

Andrea Brooks

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 1995

Andrea began her career with the Trust in September 1995 as a relief carer working in the residential and nursing unit, gaining invaluable experience working with the nursing team. Andrea went on to be promoted to the role of Senior Carer and, at that time, achieved her NVQ Level 2. Andrea then went on to become a Care Leader and achieved her NVQ Level 3. Andrea later became a Home Manager and achieved her QCF Diploma Level 5.


Andrea loves coming to work and has an excellent bond with her team and the residents. Andrea has an open-door policy and welcomes anyone who would like to meet with her.


One of the fond memories is meeting the Duke of Gloucester, which was an amazing day, and the residents and families loved it!


Andrea loves meeting new people and enjoys the fact that she is helping and supporting others.


Andrea has lots of hobbies, enjoys being a mother, keeping fit and being very sociable.

Claire

Claire Woods

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2000

I started working at Beckside as a bank carer in August 2000. I found that caring for people and being able to enhance their lives was rewarding, so I took a permanent position where I worked predominantly with nursing clients. After a few years, I progressed to a senior carer, which gave me a better understanding


After several years, I decided that I would like to enhance my knowledge to ensure that the residents were getting the best care and enrolled in a nursing degree.


After completing my degree, I worked away from Beckside for a short period, but I missed the environment and the rapport that is built with our residents and families. When offered the opportunity to return to Beckside full-time, I agreed immediately.


I returned as a night nurse before taking secondment as Clinical lead, and I then accepted the role of Deputy Manager, which allows me to support Andrea to maintain the high standards that Beckside offer.


I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to return. It feels like home!

Sue

Sue Gill

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2011

Sue is the Head Housekeeper at Beckside and has worked in the care industry for seven years, five of which have been at Beckside, where she achieved her NVQ 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.


Sue's day is varied, and she works hard with her team to ensure that the day-to-day running and cleaning of the home is adhered to. The most exciting part for her is when visitors say positive things about the home.


After many years of working as a Sales Manager both in fitness and footwear, Sue decided she wanted to take on another challenge, so she trained and went to study as a Therapeutic Counsellor, where she gained her Diploma, alongside other qualifications linked with counselling.


Sue also has qualifications, including the Care Activities Organiser Certificate and a Level 3 in an End of Life Course.


When Sue is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, eating out and playing with her four grandchildren.


A little unknown fact about Sue is that she used to be an ear model!
