The experienced care team include registered nurses and provide round the clock professional support, tailored to the needs of each resident. Beckside was also one of the first care homes to achieve the Gold Standards Framework, a special award recognising excellent palliative care.

To enhance residents’ wellbeing, there is a dedicated activities coordinator, who organises a wide-ranging programme of outings and activities to enable them to pursue their preferred interests and hobbies.

Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and
snacks, laundry (excluding dry cleaning),
housekeeping, maintenance and activities run by the
home.


Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

Everyone was so kind and caring towards my mum. Mum was looked after very well. The home was very clean and tidy. I know I am not supposed to name anyone, but one lady was brilliant! She looked after Mum and myself too! A very thoughtful and kind lady.

Words cannot express how much our family appreciate the care, dignity, respect and love that all the staff at Beckside gave my dad during his stay. The dedication, warmth and friendliness of all the staff are a credit to their profession, they go above and beyond, they are amazing! In my dad's words,
‘they are worth their weight in gold!’
My dads final days, he was on end of life care. Nothing was too much trouble, he had everything he needed. The care, comfort and respect he was shown and received were exceptional. For me personally, the final days with my dad were made very special by everyone involved, memories that I will treasure, thank you xx

Beckside is a very special place and the staff are exceptional, from the care and welcome of the Head of Care to the key workers, care staff, office staff, laundry workers, catering staff and cleaners. My aunt was not only well cared for but loved by the staff. The home is so clean, the rooms are comfortable,
the food is varied and there are weekly activities. Beckside gives you peace of mind because you know they are safe there. All through the pandemic, I have been able to keep in touch with my aunt, either in person or remotely, the organisation has been excellent. And then when my aunt was ill she, and I were looked after so well. There was always someone popping in to check on us and bring cups of tea. I highly recommend Beckside.

My cousin entered Beckside when it was no longer possible for her to remain at home due to falls. She entered with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's and was looked after in an exemplary manner when life and conditions for the staff were extremely difficult for staff and residents alike due to Covid 19. She
was able to have 6 months of dignified and cheerful care. I cannot fault any aspect of the service Beckside provided. I finally was able to sleep at night knowing she was safe and well cared for.

Mum spent five and a half months at Beckside, and she was very happy there. She loved her room, the food, especially fish and chips and having a lot of attention from the carers. Luckily we had video calls, as the only sad thing we had to experience was no visits under lockdown. She was always smiling,
but when she was poorly, the care of the staff was comforting.

The level of care at Beckside is as good as it can get. The staff are all lovely, caring people. They treated Mum with dignity and respect at all times, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was always fresh and tasty, with excellent and varied menu choices. When Mum recently went onto end of
life care Beckside could not have done more to make sure she was comfortable and pain free, they liaised with our GP to make sure she had the best medication. As well as carers they have highly qualified nurses, so there was never any question of sending her to hospital to die. The staff have all been very gentle with my wife and I at this difficult time. I am so glad we found Beckside for Mum, and fail to understand why CQC don't give them the highest rating - what does a residential/care home need to do to achieve this?

I can't thank them enough for the care they gave my Dad. They looked after him brilliantly, and the staff were amazing. He had a lovely room overlooking the park and a bird table outside to look at the birds. The food was good (although my dad grumbled but this was down to his changing tastebuds) and
the standards very high. My dad enjoyed the Friday quiz. They were kind and considerate and gave him a lot of dignity in his last days. Many thanks to everyone.

All the staff were caring and looked after mum to a very high standard. Sadly, mum wasn't able to spend more time at Beckside following a stroke. Mum was just starting to settle in during September but passed away on November 24th 2019. Thanks again for making her feel welcome.

My late husband died in Beckside nursing home on 10th October 2019. He was there for almost 5 months and during that time was cared for excellently. Because I could no longer care for him, this gave me peace of mind, which was so important.

My uncle spent the last 5 weeks of his life at Beckside. During his time there, he was treated with compassion and dignity. My father and I will be eternally grateful to the staff, who went out of their way to make my uncle as comfortable as possible, while he was in their care. I cannot recommend 'Beckside'
enough! They did a superb job and they should be very proud of themselves, I certainly am.

My mum spent 10 days in Beckside and then moved to another care home. I thought that the care of Beckside would end when my mum moved, to my surprise, not only did the amazing care continue, but it excelled itself. Every single member of staff from top to bottom went above and beyond to ensure that
not only my mum was treated with care and dignity- so were we. This place will live forever in my heart.

My mother stayed here after a fall at home. We found the staff of Beckside to be extremely helpful, caring and supportive during my mother’s stay. Nothing was too much trouble and any help my mother needed was given with kindness and good cheer. The room was very pleasant and the food good. My mother
is quite happy to stay here again should the need arise.

Care at Beckside it's very good. The entire care team is friendly, personable and professional. Facilities are reasonable although some of the bedrooms would benefit from a facelift. Catering and laundry services work well, outside spaces are well maintained and entertainment is first class. Nursing

I spent 5 weeks in the home while my partner was unable to care for me having just come out of hospital herself.
Everyone of the staff made my stay very comfortable and catered to all my needs.
We were well entertained with trips out and quizzes. Everything was very good during my stay here.

Andrea

Andrea Brooks

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 1995

Andrea began her career with the Trust in September 1995 as a relief carer working in the residential and nursing unit, gaining invaluable experience working with the nursing team. Andrea went on to be promoted to the role of Senior Carer and, at that time, achieved her NVQ Level 2. Andrea then went on to become a Care Leader and achieved her NVQ Level 3. Andrea later became a Home Manager and achieved her QCF Diploma Level 5.


Andrea loves coming to work and has an excellent bond with her team and the residents. Andrea has an open-door policy and welcomes anyone who would like to meet with her.


One of the fond memories is meeting the Duke of Gloucester, which was an amazing day, and the residents and families loved it!


Andrea loves meeting new people and enjoys the fact that she is helping and supporting others.


Andrea has lots of hobbies, enjoys being a mother, keeping fit and being very sociable.

Claire

Claire Woods

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2000

I started working at Beckside as a bank carer in August 2000. I found that caring for people and being able to enhance their lives was rewarding, so I took a permanent position where I worked predominantly with nursing clients. After a few years, I progressed to a senior carer, which gave me a better understanding


After several years, I decided that I would like to enhance my knowledge to ensure that the residents were getting the best care and enrolled in a nursing degree.


After completing my degree, I worked away from Beckside for a short period, but I missed the environment and the rapport that is built with our residents and families. When offered the opportunity to return to Beckside full-time, I agreed immediately.


I returned as a night nurse before taking secondment as Clinical lead, and I then accepted the role of Deputy Manager, which allows me to support Andrea to maintain the high standards that Beckside offer.


I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to return. It feels like home!

Sue

Sue Gill

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2011

Sue is the Head Housekeeper at Beckside and has worked in the care industry for seven years, five of which have been at Beckside, where she achieved her NVQ 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.


Sue's day is varied, and she works hard with her team to ensure that the day-to-day running and cleaning of the home is adhered to. The most exciting part for her is when visitors say positive things about the home.


After many years of working as a Sales Manager both in fitness and footwear, Sue decided she wanted to take on another challenge, so she trained and went to study as a Therapeutic Counsellor, where she gained her Diploma, alongside other qualifications linked with counselling.


Sue also has qualifications, including the Care Activities Organiser Certificate and a Level 3 in an End of Life Course.


When Sue is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, eating out and playing with her four grandchildren.


A little unknown fact about Sue is that she used to be an ear model!
