Beckside

Visited my brother-in-law regularly at Beckside, he could not praise the place/staff highly enough, he was so happy there and the staff were always so caring, nothing was too much trouble for them. He was treated with respect, dignity and met his needs. Nothing was too much trouble what an amazing place and staff.

My brother was very happy at Beckside the care he was given was excellent and dignified right to the end, so caring and nothing was too much trouble. I cannot praise this place enough.

I found Beckside was a very good care home for my Dad. It was a difficult decision but was put at ease by the staff, especially the care home manager.

After a couple of weeks, mum had settled into the care home, helped by the very friendly and caring staff. I think being here made her feel safe again after living by herself for many years. She enjoyed the activities which we hoped she would, as this was one of the reasons we chose this particular home. She loved the food, especially the puddings as they always had one thing with custard, her favourite. As mum progressed through her illness, further care was given so that she stayed mobile and was included in the group to the end. One of the last times we saw her before she became bedridden was her playing tennis, with a balloon. Happy memories helped by very caring staff.

My dad was admitted to Beckside for end-of-life nursing care. The staff were really accommodating to Dad and our family, and they provided excellent holistic care. In my opinion, they went over and above. Our views were listened to and taken into account when decisions needed to be made in Dad’s best interests. I want to thank the staff (especially two particular members of staff) for their help through such a difficult time in our lives as a family.

Beckside is a wonderful care home. My mum came here in 2020 for end of life care, and when dad became poorly in February this year, we did not hesitate to contact them again. He had stayed for respite weeks before and loved the jokes and banter with the amazing care team and nurses, who are exceptional. A massive thank you goes to the deputy manager, who is incredible in her role and goes above and beyond to help residents and their families, making sure all needs are met. We will always hold Beckside close to our hearts, so to everyone, thank you.

My mum was very reluctant to go into a care home, and I searched a few but was recommended to look at Beckside by a couple of friends and I am so glad that mum lived there for over three years. She quickly overcame her reluctance because she was clearly having a marvellous time and was full of stories about what activities she had been up to and the chats she'd been having with the staff. Of course, covid hit, but the staff worked hard to overcome the obstacles that presented. As I don't live nearby I made irregular visits, but I was always welcomed by all the staff and had great support from everyone I felt I got to know the staff well and felt completely reassured that they were looking after mum with such care - and humour, which she loved! In particular, the Head of Care and mum's named key workers were sensitive to her needs - and mine, and I will never forget the kindness mum and I were shown by them.

For the duration of mum's stay due to covid restrictions, we did not leave her room to see the home outside her room.

Everyone was so kind and caring towards my mum. Mum was looked after very well. The home was very clean and tidy. I know I am not supposed to name anyone, but one lady was brilliant! She looked after Mum and myself too! A very thoughtful and kind lady.

My dads final days, he was on end of life care. Nothing was too much trouble, he had everything he needed. The care, comfort and respect he was shown and received were exceptional. For me personally, the final days with my dad were made very special by everyone involved, memories that I will treasure, thank you xx

Beckside is a very special place and the staff are exceptional, from the care and welcome of the Head of Care to the key workers, care staff, office staff, laundry workers, catering staff and cleaners. My aunt was not only well cared for but loved by the staff. The home is so clean, the rooms are comfortable, the food is varied and there are weekly activities. Beckside gives you peace of mind because you know they are safe there. All through the pandemic, I have been able to keep in touch with my aunt, either in person or remotely, the organisation has been excellent. And then when my aunt was ill she, and I were looked after so well. There was always someone popping in to check on us and bring cups of tea. I highly recommend Beckside.

My cousin entered Beckside when it was no longer possible for her to remain at home due to falls. She entered with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's and was looked after in an exemplary manner when life and conditions for the staff were extremely difficult for staff and residents alike due to Covid 19. She was able to have 6 months of dignified and cheerful care. I cannot fault any aspect of the service Beckside provided. I finally was able to sleep at night knowing she was safe and well cared for.

Mum spent five and a half months at Beckside, and she was very happy there. She loved her room, the food, especially fish and chips and having a lot of attention from the carers. Luckily we had video calls, as the only sad thing we had to experience was no visits under lockdown. She was always smiling, but when she was poorly, the care of the staff was comforting.

Dedicated staff. Very clean. Staff friendly and always willing to help. Food is excellent. Treated staff with dignity.

I can't thank them enough for the care they gave my Dad. They looked after him brilliantly, and the staff were amazing. He had a lovely room overlooking the park and a bird table outside to look at the birds. The food was good (although my dad grumbled but this was down to his changing tastebuds) and the standards very high. My dad enjoyed the Friday quiz. They were kind and considerate and gave him a lot of dignity in his last days. Many thanks to everyone.

All the staff were caring and looked after mum to a very high standard. Sadly, mum wasn't able to spend more time at Beckside following a stroke. Mum was just starting to settle in during September but passed away on November 24th 2019. Thanks again for making her feel welcome.

Very friendly, caring, polite service by staff who offer a genuine service to make family member and family feel completely at ease and reassured.

My late husband died in Beckside nursing home on 10th October 2019. He was there for almost 5 months and during that time was cared for excellently. Because I could no longer care for him, this gave me peace of mind, which was so important.
