My Nan is looked after well, she's fed and cared for and safe. She's been here for years and with the help of the amazing staff, she's thrived even when her dementia has worsened. The staff are brilliant to the residents and relatives that visit, it's very welcoming.
It has been a great pleasure getting to know staff and residents at The Cedars since October 2018. Visiting every couple of weeks for a Christian (C of E) service of hymn singing, Bible reading, prayer and Holy Communion, I have always found residents to be clean, content and well cared for. I have observed many interactions between residents and staff that display great patience, as well as genuine care and affection, including occasionally in more challenging circumstances. My only regret is that I have not been able to get to know some staff better, as they have either changed shift patterns or moved on to pastures new. Communication with the home has always been swift and courteous, and there is a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere in the place. I continue to look forward to my visits!
(I’m afraid I have no worthwhile experience of Rooms, Facilities, Food & Drink and Safety/Security, so please discount my ratings on these).
Thank you for your kind words as it is nice for you taking the time to visit our residents as they enjoy your service. As you mention our staff work on shift patterns, so you may not see the same core staff each time you visit. We are proud of all our staff as they work extremely hard looking after loved ones in our care home.
My dad started at The Cedars on a temporary basis which has now become permanent. He is gradually becoming more settled there now. He was previously turned down by two other homes as he was a high-risk faller with dementia. The small, cosy and caring environment appears to be suiting him well. The manager and the care workers always find time to talk with us and we feel that Dad is being motivated there.
Thanks Pauline, I'm glad he is now settled and part of the Cedars family.
As a weekly volunteer visitor (and every six weeks or so with a group of singers from a nearby church) I always find a calm, cheerful atmosphere and well looked after residents. Staff are always ready to attend to residents' requests to reassure them if in any way anxious and to anticipate their needs and look out for her safety. Overall the home is well organised and managed and a happy place.
A long-standing friend was admitted to The Cedars in the autumn of last year as she was of an age that she could no longer look after herself in her own home in the proper manner due to ongoing health difficulties and needed the support and care of professionals to provide the dignity and quality of life desired by all. I cannot fault the care and attention provided by all the staff at The Cedars under sometimes, somewhat difficult circumstances.
The support my friend received was exemplary as she was always treated with patience and respect and her package of care was tailored to her particular needs allowing her the time and space to live out her days in a manner she wanted for herself. The staff were always mindful of changes in my friend's behaviour which may have signalled underlying health problems to which, due to the nature of her illness, she was not always able to vocalise to us all. As such, medical attention was always sought immediately and additional support provided.
They provided excellent care for my aunt and provided comfort and security and companionship for her when she could no longer care for herself. They kept me updated with my aunt's progress and alerted me to any problems that occurred. They were very welcoming when I visited, and were very helpful and friendly.
