My son is the youngest resident in the care home. I have found the whole staff extremely kind and caring and very attentive to my son. He is happy and well looked after and very much enjoys the gardening which he does regularly. The home has regular events which my son participates in and very much enjoys them. I am happy because my son is happy and being well looked after.

My mother has now been a resident in Kettlewell House for a little over three years.
Throughout that whole period, Mum has been extremely well looked after both in day-to-day care and recreational activities. There have also been periods of illness, including Covid where the nursing team have been super professional in nursing her back to health.
During April she did suffer from Covid, a chest infection, a bowel infection on top of two suspected TIA episodes, all this at ninety-six and is being successfully nursed back to better health. The nursing team have kept me informed of Mum's progress and have also, needed on one or two occasions, to successfully chase up delays with NHS doctor's services as well as carefully going through medical records in order to make the best-informed diagnoses.

The carer team have also shown how patient, good-humoured and diligent they are when needing to feed Mum and carry out other personal help.

On the day when I visited, there was a local singer who came and sang songs from the early sixties for the residents and they really enjoyed it. The music must have evoked many dormant, happy memories in the residents and some joined in too.

Dad continues to receive excellent care here. It’s reassuring to see he is as content as he can be and so well looked after. He enjoys the weekly church service and other activities. He enjoys the excellent meals too.

Kettlewell House is providing exemplary service to my father who is struggling with dementia. Nothing is too much trouble, the care is amazing and the staff are wonderful. Credit goes to the manager for creating and nurturing a loving environment which can only be best described as 'home from home'. I can honestly say that I don't worry about Dad as I know he is being well cared for - this is a real blessing to myself and the family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kettlewell to anyone looking to provide care for an elderly friend or relative.

Dad has been in Kettlewell for almost 6 years, and his care over that time has been consistently exceptional. He feels like it is his home and the other residents/carers are his family. We have total peace of mind about his safety and his happiness. Whenever we visit are made to feel very welcome and we know that Dad is well looked after.
The manager is exceptional and provides caring leadership to her team, who are all excellent.

I couldn't imagine Dad being anywhere else.

I couldn't recommend Kettlewell House Care Home enough. My husband has been a resident for four years and his care is second to none. The staff are amazing and very passionate about their roles. They are also incredibly supportive and patient with each and every resident. Relatives are welcomed with a smile and a greeting using first names. The manager is incredible, a registered nurse herself who will do a night shift if needed. Christmas party 2022 was another great event, staff, families and friends of Kettlewell did an amazing job entertaining the residents. I couldn't wish for a better home for my husband to be cared for.

My brother-in-law (sister deceased), has been in this care home for over a year now and when I visit him (not nearly enough I know), he always looks well cared for! I get a phone call even when not really needed if he has a fall or altercation (sometimes he can be aggressive), or medical reasons (even a 'simple' cold) keeping me totally up-to-date. He is always clean-shaven and dressed in warm clean clothes so I am totally satisfied he is getting the best possible care. I am informed timeously if he is in need of additional care such as a pedicure or toiletries. The manager is a fantastic person and manager together with many other team members (non agency staff) who care for these unfortunate souls. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

My mother never wanted to spend her last days in a nursing home, but unfortunately, health matters dictated otherwise, and she couldn't have been in better hands. Mum was treated with dignity, the utmost compassion and her care and treatment was faultless, right up to her last moments. All of the above is entirely due to an excellent manager and therefore results in a very caring team.

My mother is very happy at Kettlewell House and says she would not want to go back to her own home now even if she could. I feel she is safe in their care as well and have no concerns. The staff are kind and attentive.

My husband of 57 years went into Kettlewell House Care Home at the end of April. I was extremely upset at having to make this decision but it was decided by the family that the best way for him to be properly looked after and for him to be as comfortable as possible with this decision was to find him the right care home. We have been very pleased indeed with the care that he has received at Kettlewell House. The staff are all so kind and willing to help in any way and his health and physical wellbeing are always taken into consideration. They all seem to know him well - some more than others obviously and these helpers are exemplary, but all are very professional in their work. I cannot fault Kettlewell House and hope he will continue to be as happy as possible there.

My aunt went to live at Kettlewell nearly 4 years ago and from the start, it was emphasised that it is the residents' home; as such, the staff work hard to provide a very homely and caring atmosphere, with residents' preferences very much taken into account. The nursing staff provide thorough care plans and make swift adaptations to risk assessments if the need arises. The manager has a thorough knowledge of the residents and their needs and runs a regular relatives meeting (pre-covid). The carers are friendly and the Wellbeing Co-ordinator provides varied pastimes and activities, often on an individual basis. My aunt enjoys visits from guinea pigs and a puppy! During this time of Covid, it has been great to have Skype/Zoom calls before in-person visits could take place.

My father has been in Kettlewell for 18 months now and it truly is a wonderful care facility. Ever since his first day he has received excellent care and attention from all the staff, not only that but you can tell that respect their patients too.
The home have done an incredible job keeping the residents safe during CV19 with very few cases and many safeguards in place to continue protecting them and their staff - this is a real testament to the team as many care facilities around the country suffered but Kettlewell have done a stunning job.
The communication from the management team is very good and they keep you informed of everything going on, as well as this you can access a daily care log to see what activities have been going on.
I would recommend Kettlewell to anyone looking for a reliable, safe and friendly home for their relatives.

Keep up the amazing work.

The standard of actual care at Kettlewell House has always impressed me and I have no concerns whatsoever about that. There are some exceptionally good care staff there, and the Manager has been very good at communicating news and events to the relatives and friends of those under her care.

However, in recent months I have become increasingly frustrated by constant communication explaining to me why I cannot visit my wife. Social interaction is just as important as physical well-being, and this point has been totally overlooked by most care providers who have become exceptionally risk-averse during the recent pandemic. My grading below on 'cleanliness' is therefore only a guess since I have not been permitted to see things for myself since October 2020.

Thank you so much for your kind review, it is lovely to hear the comments about the home and staff which we have shared with the team. We understand your frustrations about not being able to visit during the pandemic, and I know that many of our staff have also missed seeing the many relatives that...

We have found that our mum has settled very well, and clearly a lot less agitated here. Mum is a lot more happier and talks more. She enjoys the freedom she has to roam indoors and outdoors. Always looks clean and tidy, and generally a lot happier in herself. We have found the staff very caring and friendly.

I think that everything about Kettlewell is brilliant - the staff are really caring and friendly.
More than that, they all seem to know my Dad so well, encouraging him in what he's interested in and aware of what makes him comfortable and uncomfortable.
The manager is the sort of person who lights up a room - she is so warm and welcoming, and I think this really reflects throughout the whole staff team.
Also, the environment is very homely because it's in an old house, rather than feeling clinical. It really does feel like a lovely home.
The location is also good, not far from a common where residents can be taken for walks, and not far from the town and transport links.

So pleased that there was a vacant room here when my Dad needed it. He is very happy there.

My father moved into Kettlewell House in summer 2019. The care that he receives is fantastic. The staff are personable, engaging, positive and knowledgable, and are always willing to help and talk. There is a really good activities programme which is emailed to relatives each week. The facilities are good and the staff to residents ratio allows for proper care for every resident. Overall, very happy with the care for my father!

The home provides an attractive, homely feel with nice house and grounds which are secure for residents to wander round. The food is excellent. The manager is excellent and very 'hands-on', with good staff who are very caring, understanding and cheerful. Activities are varied and residents are given choices and as much freedom as possible, to accommodate their individual wishes. The home is well located for walks to local green spaces and town centre amenities, and for visitors arriving by train.
