Overall Experience

My father moved into Kettlewell House in summer 2019. The care that he receives is fantastic. The staff are personable, engaging, positive and knowledgable, and are always willing to help and talk. There is a really good activities programme which is emailed to relatives each week. The facilities are good and the staff to residents ratio allows for proper care for every resident. Overall, very happy with the care for my father!

The home provides an attractive, homely feel with nice house and grounds which are secure for residents to wander round. The food is excellent. The manager is excellent and very 'hands-on', with good staff who are very caring, understanding and cheerful. Activities are varied and residents are given choices and as much freedom as possible, to accommodate their individual wishes. The home is well located for walks to local green spaces and town centre amenities, and for visitors arriving by train.

The care my father gets is very good. He is always clean and tidy when we visit. We are always made to feel welcome and kept informed of any issues.

The staff and the home manager do lots of 1-1 activities with my father to keep him calm.

Kettlewell House has a very nice, homely feel to it. Management and staff treat residents withy total care and respect. I feel my stepfather is well cared for. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone, who have a very tough job on a daily basis. I would like to point out that some of the furnishings could do with upgrading.

A very high standard throughout including keeping my brother and myself aware of any changes in my mother's health.

Also, the empathy shown to my mother during her short stay. I can't sing their praises any higher.

Mum is very well cared for. She has been in the home for a long time. Her room is clean and tidy. There are always activities going on and I hope Mum benefits from watching.

Kettlewell House is clean with no nasty smell. The staff are very pleasant to the visitors and are very caring to the residents.
There seems to be entertainment of music frequently. There are also outside events in the garden during the summer.

The residents appear to be relatively content. I cannot comment on food and drink, though it seems good, or value for money.

I have been coming for about four years to see my wife.

Initially, I came every day and fed her. For the past three years, I have been coming weekly as I had a stroke. I have always been impressed by the lead of care from everyone for the manager, the carers, the cooks and the cleaners. Since I had the stroke I have been provided with a meal for which I am very grateful.

Review from Sandra G (Cousin of Resident) published on 1 March 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Generally, there is a caring and welcoming atmosphere. Staff know about resident's situation and are helpful when asked about his health, wellbeing, needs etc.
Care plans and daily reports on the website are very useful. Symptoms eg infections are recognised quickly and acted on promptly. Management are responsive to questions and requests. Ad-hoc communication is good and the meetings for relatives are informative.

While some activities are difficult for resident to participate in due to communication problems, he has benefitted from several eg outing to Wisley, animal visits, PAT dogs, hand massage, Christmas morning festivities. Visits from healthcare professionals are appreciated. The resident is treated as an individual and given choices where possible. He is settled in the home, likes the carers and often looks happy and smiley.
