Really happy with care my mother is receiving. All staff are always caring and very friendly. My mother is really happy. My friend Thistle has been in this lovely home for almost a year now. I remember how kind the staff were helping to move her in as I helped my friend Thistle's daughter Nancy (who doesn't have a car therefore made moving very difficult) with all her things. We are always offered a drink & help with
anything when we visit & staff are always kind caring friendly & professional. They adapt food catering for individual preferences & accept recipes & homemade food I bring in to entice Thistle to eat. They listen actively, take on board ideas & adapt their practise & provision according to helpful suggestions. They take onboard advice & act upon it swiftly which my friends appreciate.
When I visited today, my friend was in her third & by far the best room ever! Lovely light spacious & they are even adapting the bathroom making it into a wet room to help with accessibility following a fall & replacement hip operation. This home & it's most precious resource, the staff, are excellent!
Reply from Glenys Patrick, Manager at Eastbourne GrangeThank you so much for you kind and thoughtful review. It truly means a great deal to us that you have taken the time to share your experience.
We are delighted to hear that Thistle has settled well into life at Eastbourne Grange and that both you and her family feel welcomed and supported. Moving into a care home can be a significant transition, so we are especially pleased that our team was able to make this process as smooth as possible.
Our staff take great pride in providing kind, person-centred care, and it is wonderful to know that their efforts to listen, adapt and respond to individual needs have been recognised. Supporting residents with their dietary requirements and working closely with families and friends is something we value highly, as it helps us deliver the best possible care.
Your feedback is incredibly appreciated and will be shared with the team, who will be encouraged by your kind words. Thank you again for your support - it means so much to us all.

My mum's been at Eastbourne Grange now for 4 1/2 years and right from day 1 the staff and management have been so supportive & open. Mum has been so happy there and I now she is loved & looked after like a member of the family. In fact I had a conversation with a longstanding member of staff who said
exactly that. The residents are treated like their own aunt or uncle. It's a very friendly atmosphere and you can feel the fun waiting to burst out when their lovely environment helpers burn up. We were very lucky to find teh place and although its relatively small its always busy. Love you all.
Reply from Glenys Patrick, Manager at Eastbourne GrangeThank you so much for your truly kind and heartfelt review. It means a great deal to us that your mum has been happy at Eastbourne Grange for the past four and a half years, and that you have felt supported and reassured from the very beginning.
We are especially touched by your words about our team treating residents like family - this is exactly the environment we strive to create every day. It's lovely to hear that the warmth and friendliness and sense of fun within the home shines through and makes a difference.
Knowing that your mum is loved and well cared for, and that you feel fortunate to have found us , is incredibly rewarding for the whole team. Than you again for your trust and continued support - it is very much appreciated

Since being admitted in 2023, my partner, who has vascular dementia, has been extremely well cared for. Eastbourne Grange is small enough to be homely & the level of care, patience of staff & delicious home-cooked food exceptional. My own health has improved knowing he is in such good hands.

My mother in law is very well looked after and feels at home here. The staff are kind, helpful and friendly. They care for each resident, nothing is too much trouble. communication between the staff and us is brilliant. There's a lovely garden to enjoy and many activities to get involved with. There's
no agency staff, so the staff and residents know each other, which puts my mother in law at ease. The rooms are very nice, the whole home is clean.

The staff take very good care of me and are always there when I ring. I don't remember, but I understand that they took extra special care of me after my fall. They take great care to provide meals that I like, taking into account my allergies, and I generally enjoy my food. We now have something going
on every day, and I particularly enjoy quiz sessions, exercises and entertainment. The management always do their best to make sure I'm safe and comfortable, as do the staff.

My Mother went into this home on the 7th November 2025 in room 19 from day one the Manager said there were activities she lied activities did not start until April 2026 on Bank holiday Monday the 25th May 2026 my Mother sustained head and arm injuries and the senior carer did not inform us till 1pm
that day and nobody saw anything before hand in relation how my Mother sustained the injuries! I replied have you called 111 or 999 to inform them to get my Mother checked over, he replied did you want me to do that?? So I instructed him to do this immediately then asked have you called Adult Social Care Mental health? he replied would you like me to call them I responded and said Yes definitely without question I called 111 at 14.11 and he had not informed them I called the home back at 15.13 and the 111 team advisor told me to call 999 and called them at 15.22 they advised an Ambulance had been allocated and it was on its way, looking back on the CQC Regarding this home quite shocking!

I replied have you rung 111 and have you rung adult social care mental health he replied would you like me to ring them l replied yes but if someone as had a server injuries you think they would ring 999 . Looking back on cqc reports for this home there was another incident back in 2022 with a head injury. We have now moved my mother to a dementia home but this knock on the head as brought mum's dementia on faster. We have reported this to the police. Plus one day when we were there the senior carer forgot to give mum her medication in the window at least he did apologise but this should not have happened in the first place .

A really well led home through the deputy manager and her team of staff. When our dad needed more help than we could give him, Eastbourne Grange became his home from home for 2 1/2 years until he needed specialist lifting equipment and more nursing care elsewhere. I cannot fault the team who were happy,
attentive to dad's changing needs, kind, caring and highly professional. We were always kept well informed. A home to be proud of.

Eastbourne Grange is very professionally run. I found it to be welcoming, friendly and incredibly homely. Dad spent 3 years here. The respect, care, patience and understanding was second to none. Dad was encouraged to play his guitar and sing (his passion) until he became unable to do so. The continuity
of the staff was invaluable in building trust, recognition and stability. Well done and thank you to everyone involved in providing exceptional care. You are 'simply the best'!

Management and staff are welcoming, friendly and caring. They are always ready to listen and have gone out of their way to accommodate Mum's dietary likes and dislikes in particular and to keep us informed of Mum's bath days and upcoming activities, as Mum gets anxious if she doesn't know what is happening.
Mum is very happy there. They were absolutely marvellous in helping her to move to a larger room recently. Staff work extremely hard and are very respectful in allowing Mum the independence that she needs. Mum looks forward to the activities and hopes there will be more in the future. Managing residents with dementia is very challenging but staff remain cheerful and there is a lovely family atmosphere in the home.

From start to finish: the staff are always very friendly and professional. His room is always clean and tidy, and he is extremely happy here and very well cared for. I've been visiting for at least 2 years, and honestly, when the time comes, I'd come and stay here rather than anywhere else! I used to
work as a weekend carer for 17 years and have worked in many care homes. This is the best!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.377)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.377) out of 10 for Eastbourne Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.452 for Eastbourne Grange is calculated as follows: ( (173 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (20 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 228 Ratings = 4.452
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eastbourne Grange is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
