My father is a resident at East Deam Grange Care Home. The home has a family atmosphere, and I am included in that family. The staff are caring and respectful of my father's requirements, they keep me informed as to his progress. All his medical and care needs are met. We are always made welcome at any time of day to both visits and take him out. I am confident my father is safe and cared for.

My brother has been a resident for over one year and is happy. Staff have always been patient, kind and helpful with a cheerful and professional manner. There have been improvements since the recent change of management. The new manager has considerable experience in care home management and is fair, kind and professional in her approach. She is making welcome changes which will take time, but already there is much improved staff training, some additional staff and a noticeable improvement in staff morale and confidence. Moreover, the new manager listens and is very supportive of staff, residents and relatives too. The recent CQC report unfortunately pertains to the period prior to the change of management and does not reflect the vast improvement in the current running or rating of the home.

Our mum commenced her stay at East Dean Grange in May 2022. They were a godsend as myself and my 2 siblings were broken as we could no longer keep her safe and well and felt we had failed Mum. All the staff at the home were so respectful to our mum especially four members of staff in particular.
Our mum enjoyed the food and her room was so comfortable and roomy. Mum wasn't the easiest to look after as she was fiesty and independent and was struggling with her dementia. All the staff got to know Mum very well and knew what to do for her when she became agitated.
Mum had always been so clean and loved her clothes and the home ensured that this was kept up making sure that her outfits were correct and one member of staff gave her a weekly manicure. Mum had lost a lot of weight leading up to coming to East Dean Grange but the good food ensured she put this weight back on.

Our mum passed away unexpectedly on the 7th November this year and the team could not have been kinder. Thank you.

Would totally recommend this home and only wish it had been available to non-members before now. Apart from the usual teething problems with moving into anywhere new, the experience has been above and beyond my mother-in-law's 2 previous care homes. The staff are all friendly, professional and caring. They are excellent communicators and are totally on it with regard to her medical care needs. Plus, the administration is speedy and efficient - a rarity! A superb setting too nestled in the South Downs with a lovely garden and easy access to the local church, inn and village.

My mother had a weeks respite care and during that time, although staff were pleasant and helpful, there were a number of issues which gave cause for concern;
1. 24 hours after admission, Mum was admitted to hospital with confusion and dehydration.
2. Despite being told on several occasions that Mum needed assistance and a straw to drink, on at least 3 occasions we witnessed Mum being served a drink in a heavy mug with no straw.
4. When I picked Mum up, she was not wearing a bra, was not wearing her own clothes, her hair was not combed, her legs were badly discoloured and dry (cream needs to be applied 2 x day), she was taken to the toilet but when I got home found her bottom had not been wiped, her socks and slippers were wet.
5. Mum was sent home with someone else's clothes and at least 7-8 items of her clothes were missing.
6, Impossible to contact the home by phone or leave a message after 5pm.

7. Signage and web references suggest another care provider ownership but it was sold in April 22.

A lovely home in a lovely area. I felt there was a shortage of staff, the time to answer the bell was 25 mins which in the case of emergency is far too long. (I did not have an emergency.) The staff were lovely and helpful (when they had the time).

If you were staying in charge, extremely likely. You gave Mum the best care always; she loved it with you. You have been so kind and thoughtful to Dad when he visited Mum. This gave me peace of mind. Since her death last week, we have had so much support, which we are so grateful for. We have nothing but praise for all your staff. Thank you for giving Mum a wonderful last year of her life.

My mother stayed in this home for a few months. This home is very clean and has a very welcoming feeling. The staff are very hard workers. They have all looked after my mother extremely well. My mum was happy there. The office staff are amazing, always have time to answer any questions I had.

I would definitely recommend this home.

My mother has lived at East Dean Grange for over three years now. She always seems happy and content, and the place feels much more like a home and a family than an institution (unlike some other care homes I have visited). The staff have kept her safe throughout the pandemic and they are clearly very fond of her. The standards of care and attention to detail are outstanding, and they also go to great lengths to make the family feel welcome too. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a kind and loving home.

On behalf of dad's family, I am able to confirm we are extremely happy with the care Dad receives. He is treated with kindness and respect - for example, the staff have taken on the role of "family" as well as carers during the Covid lockdown.
After a spell in hospital recently, he was welcomed back with genuine warmth and concern. And offered full support to enable him to settle back and pick up from where he was. For example, the home has been able to ensure his diet was tweaked, so he regained the weight he had lost as an inpatient.
The way the staff addressed the necessary restrictions during lockdown meant that Dad was comfortable and reassured - as were we. As we come out of lockdown and visits are starting up, the way these are handled is exemplary.

Dad is looking forward to getting into the garden and participating in activities now these are being introduced again.

Thank you for your kind words. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is well looked after and cared for. It has certainly been a very challenging time, so it's good to know that you and Dad felt safe and comforted by the measures we put in place. Thank you again.

I am very happy indeed with the quality of the care provided to my aunt, who has been a resident for 12 months. It has been a joy to see how she interacts with the care home staff, who are so kind to her. Although she has Alzheimer's, she is very alert to the way people treat her and is quick to value the attention and care she has received. Since regular visits have resumed, I have been so impressed with the quality of organisation of each visit, not to mention the care for my aunt's safety and for my own. Nothing is too much trouble for the dedicated team who have facilitated these visits.

Mum is well looked after and well-fed. Whilst I know it's difficult at the moment I do feel more one to one activities could be done when communal activities aren't possible or the person doesn't want to do painting/colouring etc.

My friend is very happy here and chose it after spending a two week respite period. The staff are very friendly and caring and the home is in a lovely part of the area where my friend had lived independently for over twenty years. Any problems that arise are quickly reported to me and dealt with very well.

I have been more than happy with the standard of care given to my mum at East Dean Grange Care Home. The staff are very caring, patient and friendly, and I feel she is well looked after there. I am always kept informed of any changes with Mum straightaway. It is very difficult at the moment with not being able to visit due to Covid-19, but the staff have allowed me to talk to Mum and also have provided Skype calls, which makes a big difference when you're missing someone. I have no hesitation in recommending East Dean Grange Care Home.
