My mother had to go into Eridge House during the first lockdown. The managers and staff have made this as easy as possible. They have made sure we're kept fully informed and sent photos of her room as we were unable to visit in person. We have also had photos of the various events they've put on. I would have no hesitation in recommending Eridge House to anyone.

Mum went into Eridge House just before the national lockdown. The staff at Eridge are very caring and hard working. They have all been superstars working under such difficult conditions and I have been very impressed with the way that mum has been looked after meaning that her care has been a weight off my mind. Their current social distanced visits are also very well managed and COVID safe. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a care home of excellent facilities, staff and care of their residents.

My aunt moved to Eridge at the beginning of March 2020 when the world changed. I was very impressed that they closed their doors to visitors earlier than government guidelines so that filled me with initial confidence. Nothing has been too much trouble whether it be a telephone call or email question. To keep my aunt connected with the world I got an iPhone delivered and within 30 mins was enjoying a great FaceTime with her. Thank you for setting that up for her and always ready to “run to her room” to connect her - it has meant a great deal to her and us. Outdoor social distancing visits were well organised and I would like to say another thank you for celebrating her 70th birthday with her during this pandemic. Definitely treated like royalty but from what I can gather that seems the way every day.

My mother entered Eridge House in July 2019 and has received excellent care and attention until her death on 6th October 2019.
All the staff have been of the highest standard, kind and considerate until the end.
They ensured that she was treated with dignity and compassion at all times.

We could not fault any aspects of her care whilst at the home. In our opinion, this is an excellently run care home.

Edridge House provided a caring and personal environment for the last five months of my husband's life. They were at all times supportive of my husband and myself and helped me to cope with the transition from able to less able. Their professionalism encouraged me to feel confident about my husbands care and reduced my anxiety under the situation.

I was very pleased with my choice of home.

My sister was welcomed to Eridge House after her stroke, which greatly affected her eyesight and with a difficulty for words, immediately on her discharge from hospital. She was extremely allergic to some basic food but Eridge House fully provided her tasty meals.

My sister who had lived independently (now 87) now found living in a single room (with ensuite) distressing and frustrating. While the caring staff treated her with love, care, respect and dignity, she was unable to use the amenities provided. She developed a strong fixation on the temperature and content of the air in her room - which the patient staff allowed for. Despite her failing strength over her last few months she continued to receive the same care and support to the end.

I dreaded choosing a care home for Mum in case I got it wrong and she wasn't happy. Two years on, I still feel so relieved and grateful that she went to Eridge House because she is well looked after by kind and caring staff and I know I can always trust them to do that. They also observe her health carefully and are quick to call the GP if necessary. Our family (and dog) visit frequently and are always made welcome too. If you ask me to sum up Eridge House in a single word I would say, "homely" which for Mum and me, says something very important.

The staff go out of their way to make my mum happy and content. They chat to her and make her laugh. Even difficult subjects ie end of life package are sorted with dignity and care. In fact, she wishes her ashes to be buried at the house under a rose bush. She tells me that this is her 'happy' time of life.

I found my nan to always be happy, well dressed, always clean and very well cared for.

All of nan's needs were met and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. She had diabetes, which the staff dealt with very well and dietary needs met.

The care provided for our mother was exemplary throughout her stay. The home was well maintained, friendly, responsive and entirely appropriate for her age and needs. Staff were seen to go the extra mile to care for her as an individual and she responded very well indeed from the start. When she became unwell, they adjusted their care immediately and continually and especially throughout her final days. They knew when it was appropriate to call in extra assistance but did not over-react to crises as they occurred. They demonstrated exemplary individual care and managed to get the best responses available from our mother at all stages.

From our first meeting the staff, especially the manager have been so reassuring and helpful not only to my mother in law but in supporting us the family. Settling in at first was difficult but my mother in law was helped in every way to make her feel at home and is now part of a very caring home. We are always welcomed and nothing is too much trouble and we are even included in afternoon tea and cakes when we visit. Eridge House has taken a lot of the pressure off when having to deal with a very stressful situation and I cannot thank them enough.

My mother was very resistant to even trying a Care home. Eventually, in poor general health and after illness, she agreed to a short stay. After 3 days in Eridge she changed her mind completely. The initial fears were dispelled because of the comfort, meals, new friends and enjoyment that she never realised she was missing. It was important to me that it became her choice and decision to move into Eridge rather than feeling she was being abandoned. But dementia then set in and now, after two strokes, she needs a total care regime. Eridge adjusted their support and care progressively without fuss. Now she needs help feeding and drinking and absolutely everything else. I visit frequently, often daily and she is always clean and contented. She is checked frequently being unable to operate the call bell. She still responds to animals and Eridge make sure that such therapy visitors to the home always go along to her room. Nothing is too much trouble and I rate the staff as the very best.

Heidi has a wealth of experience in the health and social care sector, including working as a manager of a care home prior to becoming the proprietor of Eridge House.

In Heidi's words... I have had the privilege of owning Eridge House since 1988. I have lived in Bexhill for most of my life and for ten years I held the post as a trustee for two local charities which I found most rewarding. One of my biggest achievements is seeing the development of Eridge House from registration of fourteen in 1988 to that of forty-three older people today. Embracing the changing ways in which we work, and the diverse and skilled team led by our Directors and Managers.
