Hartfield House is a wonderfully warm, welcoming and friendly home. It has the feel of a big happy family house. All the staff are great and always go above and beyond to make their residents feel comfortable and at home. There is really great interaction between staff and residents and care & support for the residents is excellent and always at the right level for each individual. My Gran settled in and adjusted to her new home within a couple of days and has already made good friends. She has been engaging and interacting with other residents and is already so much brighter and happier in her demeanour. We are over the moon with how quickly she has settled and how well she is looking. This is a testament to all the staff, management and other residents in Hartfield House. A big thank you to all
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear how happy and settled your Gran is at Hartfield House and that she felt secure and comfortable so quickly.
It is especially lovely to know she has made new friends and that you have noticed such a positive change in her...
My wife and I have had a connection to Hartfield house for several years ( various family members have stayed with you for different periods of time ) We continue to feel assured all is well , and our older family members have been very well looked after One small point, the telephone connection to the rear back rooms appears to have deteriorated. ( Our mother is sadly not able to use the basic mobile phone we provided to her )
Thank you for your kind review and for your continued trust in Hartfield House over the years. We are very pleased to hear that you and your family have felt reassured and that your older family members have been well cared for during their time with us. Your feedback means a great deal to our...
The overall experience of my friend staying at Hartfield House is that of patience, care and kindness; nothing is too much trouble for all the staff. When things get difficult, I feel my friend is safe in her later years with such lovely people who take care of her, and the trust they give my friend and me is wonderful. I cannot thank them enough.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are delighted to hear that your friend feels safe, cared for, and supported at Hartfield House. Our team takes great pride in providing patience, kindness, and reassurance to all our residents and their families, and its wonderful to know that our efforts are appreciated. Were grateful for your trust and will continue to do our very best.
My brother has become part of the family, and everyone is friendly and encouraging of joining games and exercising. The home has two cooks, and the food is very good, with a lovely birthday cake for all the residents. I visit my brother every afternoon, joining everyone for a cup of tea and a slice of cake at 3 pm.
Our team always strives to create a true home-from-home where residents feel valued, supported, and part of...
After 1st year, I when visiting would wash mum and take washing home as the home would not return mums labelled cloths. In the last 6 months mum was in the home she had a number off falls and hospital visits, the home made no effort to address any questions asked. In October 2025 mum was admitted in to hospital and is still there today as home has refused to have her back saying 'We cannot meet your Mums needs' The Hastings hospital has put a SAFEGARDING order in place for the home.
Invoicing from home has always had to be corrected.
Dear Lynda,
We are very sorry to read your comments and to hear that you've been unhappy with aspects of your mother's care. It was such a shame to see you felt that things had changed so much since the last review you provided in January 2025, which was so positive. We fully understand how...
We must have visited every care home in Eastbourne to choose one for our mum. Of the homes within her price bracket Hartfield really stood out. It is a beautiful home immaculately cared for and the staff are lovely. Residents all seem happy and Mum loves it there. She has been a resident since May. A few glitches of course that will always happen but the management and staff are open to feedback and suggestions and that gives me confidence going forward. Thanks to all at Hartfield House who care for our Mum.
We really appreciate your kind words about our staff...
I would highly recommend Hartfield House. When I visit my friend here, I always feel welcomed by the staff who are very friendly and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble. Many times on my visits I have observed the Care Home Manager, taking time to chat and have fun with the residents. This seems to be a very organised and well-run home with a highly motivated team.
This home is so friendly and I get on well with the Manager, staff and residents, many would class me as a friend as I see most of the residents on a weekly/fortnightly basis.
Really enjoy coming here and they make yummy cakes when I have one on my hairdressing afternoons!
Great Care Home!
The residents are well looked after. The staff are caring, the rooms are clean, nice with their own facilities. They also have activities for them during the week and a nice garden that they can use.
My friend who was an elderly lady, when she was there, she was so happy and contented, it was nice to visit her to see her so settled and looking so well
I would always recommend Hartfield House as in my eyes they are unique, in every way, which makes them stand out compared to other homes.
Thank you to the manager and the team for your compassion and kindness.
Thank you for giving Hartfield House a great review. We appreciate you taking the time to provide the review as it means a lot to everyone involved with running the home. We are glad to hear that you are happy with the service provided at Hartfield House. Kind Regards, Ketan
It felt very much like a partnership, and we worked together to deal with a number of health issues that occurred for my mother. The proof of this was that due to Hartfield's more effective management, my mother recovered from a long-term bout of constantly throwing up, which had occurred in her previous care home, which they had claimed was due to her underlying condition and we have a hunch was down to them feeding her things she had a reaction to and leaving her in a room which was too hot. Her condition stabilised rapidly in Hartfield.
The room she was in was large and light and felt very homely. When it came to her leaving, the manager even recommended, as it turned out, a very good new home for my mum to go to.
Good overall standard of care and food. The staff are generally very helpful, particularly senior members, when I contact the home but I do have a slight concern that the level of staffing may sometimes lead to issues of rushing or overlooking things. Now that Covid restrictions have been lifted I hope there will be opportunity to get some residents into the garden, or away from the home for short periods to see the world beyond usual four walls other than when relatives arrive to take them out.
Hartfield house have looked after my mum brilliantly for the past few years, she had some ups and downs but the staff and management have been there for her every step of the way, although she misses her old home she now feels that Hartfield House is her new home. Thank you.
I hope you and your family are well.

My mum is well into her 90s and I feel will see a 100 in with no problem due to the attention, care and home from home environment that she experiences on a daily basis.
The staff are always welcoming and do the right things with considered thought. Even as relatives we receive kindness and most importantly time, when they must have 1001 things to do.
Also, a mention must go to the support staff, whether, doing the finances or administration, the drivers, the chefs. You all contribute to an amazing experience for your residents.
So thank you, you have my biggest heartfelt gratitude for everything you do and for all the personal care you give my mum.

The best review I can give of Hartfield House is my father consistently saying to me how happy he is living there. The staff are caring, attentive, and on top of things. I am always warmly welcomed when I visit, and I can see staff know residents well and treat each one according to their needs and preferences. The house is always clean and they offer a good choice of food and drinks. There are also regular activities as well as other more seasonal ones. As daughter of a resident, I am very pleased with the communication with both staff and management, and I feel reassured that I will be kept up to date with anything that may arise. I would like to especially commend all the staff for their excellent work during the Covid pandemic, keeping residents not only well and safe but also, at least my father, in good spirits through a challenging time. I would definitely recommend Hartfield House to anyone with similar needs.
Thank you for submitting the review on carehome.co.uk we value your feedback very much.

Just to say a huge thank you to the wonderful staff for the lovely tea party we had with Mum on Christmas Eve. The food was lovely and plentiful, and we had a wonderful and enjoyable afternoon with Mum. The staff are exceptional and take great care of my mum, for which, I am truly grateful.

This Christmas Eve was her 105th birthday and I cannot say thank you enough for the wonderful day that was arranged for her. The entertainment, arrival of the mayor and buffet were superb. The manager could not have been more helpful and caring along with the other staff. Thank you once again.
I could not recommend this home highly enough
Thanks Pamela. We are really appreciated your feedback
When I visit I am always welcomed and treated courteously, and treated to tea and coffee, and if I am lucky I get cake as well.
If I have cause to telephone, the staff are always helpful and try to be obliging. Overall I have found this to be a welcome and comfortable home for my relatives.

Very homely and extremely clean care home. Welcoming and vigilant. Staff are more than considerate and caring to residents. Being just visitor will tick the options honestly that I can. Have visited friends in several care homes and Hartfield is definitely one of the best. I'm sure their good name will continue. Excellent.
Thanks for your positive feedback. Really appreciated
My mother very much enjoyed living in the Hartfield House community for six months. She particularly liked the comfortable bed and choice of food. The staff were very thoughtful and attentive in relation to her personal needs. Communications between myself and the Home were very good throughout her stay, which included the Covid lock-down period. I would definitely recommend this Home for people with similar needs.
