My mother had gone into York Lodge in December 2025 as emergency respite. She has vascular dementia and my father could no longer cope looking after her. Lindsay and Alex have been absolutely amazing. They have welcomed her, along with all the fabulous staff and made her feel at home and safe. She was lost without my father and has declined but they have helped her come through and settle. This care home feels like family and home from home, which is what we as a family wanted for mum. They are loving and nurturing, not only for mum but for the other residents too. We can drive away knowing mum is in safe hands.

Our dad has been at York Lodge for nearly a year. He has settled in really well and now sees it as his home & that is thanks to the wonderful staff who are so friendly, caring and cheerful. They have supported us in the transition of moving dad into care & are happy to talk to us at any time. His bedroom is a good size & homely and they have a lovely garden. They have regular activities & minibus trips out - we are very grateful for everything they do to make living there such a positive & enriching experience. They are very patient & understanding with dad & the challenges that dementia brings. They are in regular contact with the doctor so any concerns are quickly addressed & have a visiting hairdresser. We would definitely recommend York Lodge - it is homely, caring, safe & friendly and I feel like he and we have become part of a bigger family. Thank you to all the staff at York Lodge, it means so much to know dad is happy & safe & enjoying his new home at York Lodge xxxx

My mother has been at York Lodge since April this year. She was in an upstairs room (en suite) but the staff recognised that she was unsteady on the stairs and recommended moving her to a ground floor en-suite room. York Lodge has a lovely, homely and welcoming feel. Often when I can't come in, I call my mum on the phone and the staff are always very happy to help her speak to me that way.

The home is very well run and well staffed. Management are very easy to talk to and their door is always open. Communication is excellent. My mum has had a few minor falls and they immediately call me; also, for more day to day issues, such as to ask me to buy her additional nightwear, etc. Management has also been very engaging and supportive about

mum's medicine/appointments.

There daily, fun activities and always at least one member of staff in the lounge area at any one time.

I have watched all the staff on duty and the level of care and kindness is beyond what I could have ever expected.

My father who suffers with dementia stayed at York House for a 4 week respite. During his stay he was entertained, stimulated, enjoyed his meals & was treated with courtesy & kindness. The staff were truly lovely. Although the home is undergoing some renovation work, his room was clean & tidy, as were all the communal areas. I couldn't fault the love & care he received. Many thanks to you all. xxx

My experience of Yoak Lodge has been positive from the start! When I looked around on behalf of my father, I felt welcomed and was given all useful information and advice, I was given a choice of rooms and chose one overlooking the garden as my father really enjoyed his garden at home, especially watching the birds.
I feel that I receive good communication from the staff and the management team keep me included in all changes, updates or decisions regarding my father.
I feel My father is well cared for, he is always clean, appropriately dressed and groomed.

Staff interactions I have seen are positive and when he has struggled or become angry/confused their time and understanding is clear and appreciated.

My husband was admitted here for emergency respite care after I was unexpectedly in hospital. He has dementia. I was extremely pleased with his care, lovely room with en-suite, nice conservatory dining room, outside decking with lovely garden, lots of entertainment, outings etc. He enjoyed the food and we were always offered a cuppa at visits. Staff friendly and attentive.

York Lodge has given me confidence to leave my husband in their care.
The staff are caring and are always there if I have any concerns.
They are friendly and chatty towards my husband and make him feel safe and cared for.
Although he doesn't participate in the use of the lounge area, or any other options to keep him involved in the day to day life at York Lodge, the options are there.

Thank you all staff!

Our mother has been a resident now for nearly a year and whilst it was a very hard decision to move Mum from her home into care we knew that for her safety and our peace of mind it was the right thing to do. The manager and her team are always friendly and more than happy to talk to us at any time if we have any concerns. In the early days when it was difficult for us to accept Mum's decline they were so reassuring to us and helped Mum to settle into her 'new home' and for us to adjust to this new way of life for Mum. Mum is very happy and has made lots of new friends even to the point that she prefers to chat to them when we visit her. In a lovely way Mum has a new family and a new home at York Lodge. We as a family cannot praise the team at York Lodge highly enough for their dedicated care to our mum and for the fun and array of entertainment including Summer and Christmas parties which we as a family are invited to take part in. Sincere thanks to all the team at York Lodge.

My Nan has been a resident here for over a year now and she is very happy and content here. She has a very large room on the top floor overlooking the very pretty rear garden. The manager is always friendly and willing to answer any questions we have to ask and is always very approachable at any time. The staff are very friendly and ask us if we would like a tea or coffee when we arrive as nothing is ever any hassle. Never had any problems. We as a family are very happy and content with how my nan is being cared for here at York Lodge.

My Dad has been a resident since early 2022 and has been incredibly well looked after from the start. The staff are all very friendly, accommodating and clearly know the different needs of each resident and their families in detail. They have been proactive in arranging everything Dad needs without even having to be asked like; COVID vaccine injections and boosters, eye tests, medication changes with the GP, haircuts, chiropody etc. etc. From the beginning, it was clear they all have a great deal of specialism in dealing with dementia patients, which for me makes it much easier as someone who for the first time is dealing with a relative diagnosed with dementia.

My father is not the easiest of people to care for but I have utmost faith in the staff and management of York Lodge to ensure that his health and wellbeing are being taken care of to a very high standard. There is always a friendly welcome and a family atmosphere. I have not been able to visit for a while because of my ill health but I know if there are any problems I will be informed immediately... giving me peace of mind. Thank you York Lodge!

We moved my father to York Lodge in the summer of 2024 and it was the best decision we made. The staff are all so lovely and the home has such a wonderful family feel. Dad took a few weeks to settle but everyone was so patient and understanding and kept me up to date regularly. Dad's move all happened very quickly and I was apprehensive but we couldn't be happier with York Lodge.

My 94-year-old father has been a resident in this care home since 2022. He had dementia.
They have accommodated him in a downstairs room due to his lack of mobility - he is a vegetarian and has been catered for.
His overall care has been good, and we are generally happy.

The family are made very welcome to visit.

My mother went into care at York Lodge, Crowborough last December 2023. Happily, Mum settled very well. She has a beautiful room upstairs and is looked after very well. I do feel there could be more interaction with Mum in the day room downstairs - as this is so important to her.

Leaving a loved one in the care of other people is never an easy choice. Our family are so pleased with the "home from home" feel at York Lodge and the care he is given there. Dad also is happy to be in their care, and he always seems calm and comfortable in York Lodge.
