I have found our experience of Charles Lodge excellent. The staff have been so patient & understanding especially as mum took a while to settle in. She is always treated with respect & dignity. She enjoys the activities & outings & I haven't seen her this happy for years. I couldn't have chosen a better place for her to live.

We choose Charles Lodge because we were impressed by all the carers, staff and management and by the more homely feel that it had compared to other places we viewed. All the staff have been caring to our father, showed great awareness when an issue has arisen and the management have been keen to help in an approachable way. The care received at Charles Lodge, and the kindness of activities, staff, carers, cleaners, maintenance and management has been a comfort through a difficult time. Outstanding care with a human touch. Thank you all!

I have visited a few care homes and by far Charles Lodge is way friendlier, as more staff who are all caring, chatty, considerate and a joy to meet. The chef goes out of her way to cater individual resident needs. I chat to all the staff on my weekly visits and comment happy, Ellie and Holly on their positive & caring attitude. Charles Lodge is always clean. Overall like one big family.

My dad has been at Charles Lodge for 6 weeks now and it has been the most wonderful beginning of a new chapter in our lives. The whole team from management to all whom work at the care home offer such amazing support care and kindness. The residents are all cared for so well, it really is a home from home experience. My dad had been very lonely but now he feels so special and a part of a loving community. Communication is very well addressed both with team members residents and family members. It is obvious those working at Charles Lodge absolutely love being there. Thank you to everyone for caring so much about the work you do. To be able to give good care, you have to care about others, this shines through at Charles Lodge. It is very reassuring to know my dad is in very safe hands and being treated respectfully. Thank you again. If I could give more stars I would!

Since my Father's arrival in April everyone we have interacted with at Charles Lodge has been helpful, friendly, caring, patient and understanding of the needs of the Resident and also the stress that family members are feeling. Carers, managers and support staff have all been positive, friendly, attentive and they have all made this difficult period much easier with their calm natures and great caring skills.
Charles Lodge is a homely, relaxing, environment and the best we viewed for our father's needs.

I would recommend Charles Lodge without hesitation.

My mother is well cared for by friendly, sociable staff. They look after her health and physical and mental wellbeing. They keep her stimulated with many activities. Walks, quizzes, crafts & gardening. When I visit she is always clean and tidy as are the other residents. She is very happy there.

I am very pleased with the overall care my mother receives. She always looks well presented and content in her own little world. The staff ensure my mum gets her coffee and special biscuits and that her dietary needs are met.

The staff seem to genuinely care about the residents as individuals and are very hands on.

Management and staff are very helpful and caring. They deal with my mother’s day-to-day incontinence problems as best they can and take good care of her. They ensure she is bathed regularly because of the incontinence and make sure they use the creams given by the doctor to protect her skin from urine burns.

My mum has dementia and has been a resident at Charles Lodge for a year. She was very reluctant to be in a home at first but is now very settled. The staff are all amazing and extremely caring plus the food is also really good.

My mother was a resident at Charles Lodge Care Home from July 2018 until her death last month. I have nothing but praise for the care afforded to her by the then-manager and her team. As my mother's dementia progressed, her needs were reassessed and then met in consultation with the family. We were always welcomed.
For all the challenges that my mother's dementia posed to the staff at times, they continued to treat her with dignity and respect and maintained her identity throughout. The end-of-life care provided was compassionate and supportive of the family who were able to be with her at the end.

Thank you.

Having moved Mum to Charles Lodge Care Home in her early stages of suffering from dementia, we have been absolutely delighted with all aspects. It's a well run and staffed operation and - most important of all - Mum was really happy in her eighteen months stay here. We especially liked the low number of residents (maximum 26) which enabled a more personal approach to care.

Highly recommend!

Our mum recently had to go to hospital for an emergency following a mini-stroke at Charles Lodge. The home contacted us immediately and informed us of the situation and reassured us. She kept us informed when Jean returned to the home as the hospital did not answer their phones. We were worried as we couldnt see Jean due to Covid restrictions but were kept up to date with jeans progress. We always feel that nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, especially during this pandemic.Thank you all very much for all your continued hard work and cheerfulness during this difficult time

I am delighted to have found Charles Lodge to care for my mum. The thoughtful kindness fo staff and their attention to detail is most impressive, often going out of their way to enable mum to be as comfortable and settled as possible. Staff are careful to allow mum to make her own decisions as much as she is capable of, thereby respecting her choices. Her room is lovely and clean and was decorated with her preferences into consideration. There is a convivial, relaxed atmosphere at Charles Lodge under effective yet unobtrusive management. I am reassured she is in capable hands and that Charles Lodge is the best place for her at this time in her life.

Mum was living a chaotic existence at home as her dementia took hold. Moving to Charles Lodge, over a few weeks the staff gradually assessed her and got her settled into a routine which best suited her. Mum especially enjoys the visiting singers and musicians (having been a musician herself and a big Elvis fan). When visiting I see her (and all other residents) always treated with respect and dignity. Her hair and nails are neatly cut and she is clean and well dressed. The environment is cheerful and the food always looks healthy and tasty. The Lodge itself always looks clean with no unpleasant smells that characterize some homes. After assessing care homes for Mum, Charles Lodge is definitely a cut above the rest and I can’t praise the staff highly enough.

I only have high praise for all the staff at Charles Lodge. My mother has only been there for three months, but already she is feeling at home. As a dementia resident, my mother requires a lot of reassurance and patience. The staff are extremely patient, kind and respectful towards her and all other residents and a huge reassurance to myself and family thank you.

My mother has been at Charles Lodge since January 2018. She is extremely well looked after and seems very content and happy. She eats well and has put on weight since she has been there. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are kind and attentive. It is a very lovely atmosphere. All the staff are very approachable and there is always someone available to answer any queries. We feel reassured that she is being very well looked after and cared for. The place is always spotlessly clean.
