My mother has been a resident of Charles Lodge for over three years. I could not ask for better care and understanding of her multiple problems. Staff and facilities are of the highest standard.

My Mother has been in Charles Lodge since January 2018 and she has settled in extremely well. The staff appear very caring and there is always someone available to oversee the residents and/or answer any queries I have. I like the fact that there are activities organised most days to engage the residents. Mum is eating well and seems quite content.

What a special place. Super staff, well run and clearly, the residents are well cared for. The rooms are kept clean and tidy.
Looked at a number of places and this one shone head and shoulders above others, I just hoped they would live up to initial expectations - I am pleased to say they didn't disappoint.
The manager and all staff make sure its a welcoming and pleasant 'homely' place. They get to know the relatives quickly and you are welcomed on every visit.

A care home that I would highly recommend.

Fantastic place, always friendly. Staff are always available and eager to help. My mother's room is always warm and clean, her clothes laundered and she is washed and tidy. They handle her memory issues with patience and tact.

The manager and staff are very good to the resident and myself.

I spend most of my time with her when she's down and she is always smiling when I arrive.

Great job - keep it up. Thank you.

We moved mum to Charles Lodge over six months ago as we were unable to continue the level of care that she needed. She is 90 and suffers from dementia. Since being at Charles Lodge, mum has gone from strength to strength and we could not be happier with the level of care and kindness that she receives from everyone there. The home is extremely clean and tidy, mum is always dressed beautifully, her room is immaculate and unlike other care homes, Charles Lodge smells lovely too! We visit mum on a regular basis at varying times of the day and have always found her to be extremely well looked after and would not hesitate to recommend Charles Lodge.

Mum is 97 but only had to move into a care home last July. Initially, she was in just a care home but they felt that she needed more attention than they could provide so we moved her to Charles Lodge.
She seemed to adjust fairly well. Now she seems more engaged with the activities and some of the other residents.

Overall we are happy with her wellbeing here.

My mum has been a resident at Charles Lodge for 2 1/2 years. She is happy and very well cared for. The entire staff from maintenance staff to carers are always caring, welcoming and friendly. I am convinced she could not be in a better home. I have peace of mind that she is safe, understood and "loved". I would not hesitate to recommend Charles Lodge for dementia care.

Charles Lodge is a very well run and efficient care home. My mother has been a resident since March 2016 and is thriving and very happy. All the needs when having to put a loved one into any sort of home. They have wonderful caring staff who are gentle and take time to listen and talk to the residents. Entertainment is varied but the singers who come in and get the residents singing a long and also dancing is a joy to see. Charles Lodge is fabulous.

At first mum was really unhappy and sad which made me feel the same, but in a few short months the wonderful staff have won her around, she is now very happy, content and smiley. She is always clean and well turned out when we visit every week. She loves the activities which take place most days. She now feels she is at home. All the staff are so caring and nothing is too much trouble. Her room too is kept immaculate. There is always fruit around for residents to help themselves and drinks are always available. Whenever I visit there are no smells at all it is clean and tidy.

I can confirm that Charles Lodge provides the best possible care home for my mother who is suffering from progressive Dementia, and who requires full time care and attention. The management and staff are all so responsive to my mothers needs and treat her with the utmost dignity and respect. Her room is always spotlessly clean and tidy and her clothes are changed and laundered o0n a daily basis, so she always appears respectable. The food provided is always to the highest quality. Mum is so happy and content within this fabulous care home which makes it so much easier for us as a family to relax knowing that she is being well cared for in such a lovely place.

I have found the staff to be helpful and friendly to me when visiting. With regard to the service user the staff always appear to treat her in a friendly but respectful way and ensure her needs are met. The environment is always cheerful and everywhere I have seen appears bright and clean. I find it helpful there are no restrictions on visiting hours. From what I have seen the service appears excellent.

Could not fault in any way. Staff are extremely kind, caring and friendly. Have already recommended to a number of others, who also moved family members into their care. Would not want my mum in any other care home.

My overall impression (and this comment is made taking note of some input from my father, the service user) is that Charles Lodge is a well-managed establishment with well-trained and sympathetic staff. The biggest problem I detect, one true of most such organisations is that there is sometimes a shortage of staff available.

The room was made available to my father at less than one month's notice for occupation from 01/12/2014 following the sudden closure of his previous residence. He spends almost all his time in his room, not being socially inclined at this time of his life. The room was redecorated prior to my father's taking up residence and Charles Lodge management has tried hard to meet his requirements and to make him comfortable in a quite small space. The only significant criticism I would have of the room is a common one of such establishments in that it is overheated and airless. Being south-facing with only a small opening door-cum-window in summer it is also too hot.

On the occasions when I have eaten in Charles Lodge I have have been very impressed by the standard of meals which seems higher than in my father's previous home and certainly attracts far less adverse comment than I would expect from a fastidious eater.

The home has been personally very helpful to me (who live seventy miles away) with managing post and dealing with some administrative matters which required Charles Lodge headed paper.

NOTES:

I have classified "Activities" as "Good" but my father does not use these so it is largely a guess.

My mother has been at Charles Lodge for over a year. It is a homely place, kept spotlessly clean. The staff are excellent; they are all kind and I never have any doubts that they are being unkind to my mum when I am not there. I feel I can leave her there safe in the knowledge that she is well cared for. Mum is happy there and the food is excellent.

The care home is very efficiently and sympathetically run. It is always clean and hygienic and clients are happy and calm. I cannot believe this is due to anything else but the caring and sensitive approach of the staff and management. Turnover of both clients and staff is low and this must be a good sign. Facilities and activities are excellent and appropriate and the clients respond well. The care home is always welcoming and staff invariably greet visitors by first name. I have no criticisms whatsoever.
