My mother has been in Ashtonleigh since August 2022. The staff are always friendly and support mum well as her health declines. They do their best to include her in the organised activities and make sure that she is out of bed as much as possible during the day. I also find that the contact I have
with the home is prompt and efficient.

Ashtonleigh has been home to my mum for over two years , she is cared for exceptionally well her daily life is enriched now she is there .
The staff are all so kind , caring and in touch with her needs . A totally home environment where she has entertainment, fun and lots of activities with wonderful
staff ensuring never a dull moment. Along with a lovely room the whole place is clean in every way . Freshly decorated regularly . Great food , and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone to bring a loved one there . The manager and his team work so hard to create this wonderful place for the residents benefit. They work with you and ensure everything my mum needed is achieved to the best they possibly can. We as a family are so grateful and have no worries at all .

All of the staff are very caring, and having nursing staff at hand is very reassuring. The availability of organised activities is so important, particularly where a resident is mostly confined to bed and unable to share in group activities. Spending time with residents in that way and getting to know
them makes a big difference to the quality of care.

Fabulous home staffed by beautiful caring people. Mum has been cared at the home for over two years and has been treated with the upmost dignity. The staff treat mum as family. I have written to many organisations to get this home the recognition it deserves. The most important thing for me is I sleep
an night knowing she is in safe hands.

Mum has been at Ashtonleigh for 1 year now. She's very happy with her life there, she loves getting involved with all the activities and being able to go out in the garden when the weather is warm.
The nurses and carers are all fantastic, very friendly and supportive not just to Mum but relatives
too.
We are so pleased she got the opportunity to be in this particular care home, her quality of life is so much more than when she was at home where she was completely housebound.
Thank you to all the staff.

My dad became a resident in April, and from the outset, the staff were smiling, happy, observant, accommodating, kind, caring, remembering not just his name but also my Mum's, my sister's and mine. Lots of activities going on, and encouragement to join in, or to move to the lounge areas or the garden.
A garden party in the summer with a BBQ, then last week an Onam celebration for the Kerala harvest festival, which is where a lot of the staff are from. It was so nice to sit with my Dad in a decorated room, eating a selection of fantastic dishes off a banana leaf- we had such a laugh. Thank you Ashtonleigh, it's such a relief knowing he's being looked after well, with dignity and care.

This is a very good nursing home and the facilities and staff are very good. My mum's room is very comfortable. She has to have liquidised food but seems to like the flavours, she goes to the lounge and enjoys the activities. Overall I feel that Mum is getting good care and she is happy here.

This was my Dad's 4th care home move in a year & as a family, we were extremely apprehensive. We had gone through an awful time beforehand. Our concerns were met with empathy, support & openness. The staff have been fantastic in taking the time to get to know Dad & us as a family. They have helped us
plan special lunches on my Dad's behalf to surprise my Mum as he no longer can. I often phone to check in as I don't live close by & they are always reassuring telling me how Dad has been that day even if he's had an off day. My Dad is now in a safe, friendly environment & finally treated with the respect & dignity that he deserves. I know I can walk in any time & be greeted with a hello & a smile from all the staff.

My mother has been a resident at Ashtonleigh for a few years now. The staff are always very friendly, welcoming and good at keeping me informed of any health matters. Her needs have changed in the time she has been there and they have adapted to accommodate these along the way. Given her needs, she
is in the best place she can be to be looked after safely and with compassion. The food is very good which I know would have been very important to her.

I have been very happy with my parents' care. They moved into the home to be close to me and needed to transition into a safer environment than they had while living at home. Staff are friendly and attentive and try to ensure that there are things to do every day. Food is good, drinks are provided throughout
the day and the rooms are always clean. I am kept informed of medical issues and have had no problems visiting when the home is not in lockdown.

The care, support and welfare my Father receives at Astonleigh is very good, he has been at the care home for several years now. All of the staff and management treat my Father with respect and integrity for which my brother and I are very grateful for. The facilities and the rooms are clean and kept
tidy, the food is always freshly prepared and if there are any dietary requirements they are always catered for. My Father is happy there and has built a loving relationship with all of the staff and this is very good to see, knowing that he is being looked after and cared for. I would like to thank everyone at Astonleigh for their hard work and care shown to all of your residents.

My husband seems to be very happy at the home, but on visiting I have found that his bed is wet in the late afternoon still from the morning, I've also had to change his bed myself and also wash him by hand, on more than one occasion, think that I would like to see him showered at the very least once
a day, and would hope that his bed should never be left wet from morning till night.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.784)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.784) out of 10 for Ashtonleigh is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.784 for Ashtonleigh is calculated as follows: ( (273 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 342 Ratings = 4.784
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashtonleigh is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
