It will be coming up to three years since my mother arrived here.
Not her choice to leave her house but due to dementia and wandering in the road outside, her safety was in question.
She settled in after a couple of weeks and now is very happy and content, mainly due to the very caring nature of the staff!
We visit at least every week to see a happy person, in her own world mentally and often in somebody else’s clothes.

Seemingly going on forever (96 last April) but she is not the Mum I knew, which is very sad!

I have always found the staff at Edward House are very friendly and welcoming. They are very attentive to any requests from mum and are often checking on her. I feel that even though they have a lot to do they are always keeping mum in their sight. As soon as she goes to move, someone is there to help her. The care and compassion I see is very reassuring for me to know that mum is well looked after. I can't wait for more.

My Father is well looked after and cared for. He is encouraged to join in entertainment provided by staff. At first, he found it hard to settle into a care home but has now accepted it was his home with the staff's help.

My husband has only been at Edward House for 6 weeks so it's difficult to really give an opinion but he seems quite settled and happy. It's a shame I now find it too difficult to look after him myself but I am waiting to go into hospital for an operation myself.

So I would just like to say thank you for the good job you all are doing looking after my dear husband for me. All the staff and management are all wonderful - with a very difficult job at times.

Appears that my mother-in-law is well looked after even though I realise she can be awkward and you are spoken at times. She has settled in well and is very happy. A while ago she was found collapsed early one morning and had to go to the local hospital the care and support received fro the staff was excellent and by early afternoon she was having her lunch after being assessed ad prescribed medication.

I am always made welcome when I call in most weeks and if there are any problems which aren't many are sorted quickly.

It was a hard decision to move mum into a care home, however, mum is safe and well cared for by the extremely kind and caring staff to the residents.

I have peace of mind knowing that mum is happy and contented. The residents eat together in small table groups which help them socialise and make friends with other residents. I am always made to feel welcome whenever I visit mum at various times of the day.

When I came into Edward House to visit my Mother-in-law, I was very impressed how friendly everybody was and how warm and cosy it was with a lovely smell of home cooking. We went and saw her bedroom and that was light and airy. She looked happy, which to me was very important.

My journey into a care home started with my grandmother years ago. She was a nurse, and I will always remember her taking so much pride in her job. I joined the care sector in 2005, working in a nursing home as a carer. I did my NVQ 2 and 3 at my local hospital and spent 6 years working in the hospital in the stroke ward. I was soon assigned champion for the older ones in the ward and was involved as much as possible, but after 6 years, I wanted to try something new. After leaving the hospital I went on to work in the community as a team leader and it was at that point, I had the opportunity to complete my NVQ 5 and after a few years of working in the community where I went to work for an agency, I was assigned to work in a care home. I have been in Edward House for just over two years. I love working at Edward House.

It is a very homely atmosphere in here. I'm so proud to be able to do things for the residents, talking with them and spending time with them and seeing them do things that they haven't done in a while is a real joy. When I see them happy, having a good time and being looked after properly, I'm happy.
