What a lovely home, really caring and kind staff who really look after dad. I loved the home when we looked round for the first time. It was not easy to put my dad in a home. All the staff and the manager helped and supported us to make it easier.

I was unsure about putting my dad into a care home. Edward House have helped to make this a positive experience for my mum and all the family. They have made us feel welcome when visiting and I have found all the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Visitors are always warmly welcomed. Staff are very friendly. Extremely clean (no nasty smells). lovely sunroom which can be used for quiet get togethers.

When visiting, very friendly clean home. Often my sister is engaged in an activity. Well cared for, home made cakes and plenty of drinks.

It was a tough decision to put my father into care, however he is happy safe and well cared for by a lovely friendly team. Giving us peace of mind knowing he is happy and content, with regular entertainment and activities.


The food is very good and all the residents eat together with the team assisting

when necessary but ensuring the residents maintain as much independence and dignity in a social and friendly setting.


The security is good but visitors are always welcome at any time and the team are always happy to update information and show a genuine interest in my dad.

My comments below are no reflection on the staff who are excellent. It is the condition of the home. It needs a face lift and that is down to funding. It is down to the powers that be, to provide the funds for people i.e. residents of the home and the staff. To people who have worked all their lives
and dedicated staff, to provide better facilities. There does not seem to be a problem with funding everyone else. Charity should begin at home. To reiterate the staff are excellent.

I find the staff very friendly and helpful and they always offer tea when I visit my husband. I will say that they should make him wear his elastic stockings to keep the swelling in his legs down.

My journey into a care home started with my grandmother years ago. She was a nurse, and I will always remember her taking so much pride in her job. I joined the care sector in 2005, working in a nursing home as a carer. I did my NVQ 2 and 3 at my local hospital and spent 6 years working in the hospital in the stroke ward. I was soon assigned champion for the older ones in the ward and was involved as much as possible, but after 6 years, I wanted to try something new. After leaving the hospital I went on to work in the community as a team leader and it was at that point, I had the opportunity to complete my NVQ 5 and after a few years of working in the community where I went to work for an agency, I was assigned to work in a care home. I have been in Edward House for just over two years. I love working at Edward House.


It is a very homely atmosphere in here. I'm so proud to be able to do things for the residents, talking with them and spending time with them and seeing them do things that they haven't done in a while is a real joy. When I see them happy, having a good time and being looked after properly, I'm happy.
