We love coming to visit my grandmother at Clovelly House, always lovely and clean. The grandchildren are always welcome and enjoy to come to see her too. As a family we love spending time with her at the summer fayres and other entertainment they have on. Our grandmother thoroughly enjoys her time at
Clovelly House and it gives us a wonderful feeling knowing how happy and comfortable she is. Nothing is too much trouble with the staff and their time is always given to all the residents. Thank you so much to all at Clovelly House.

Had amazing help to find a family care home for my dad. Clovelly House has it all. Has plenty of facilities to cater for the residents, the care support is well met. The home is kept very clean and no nasty smells. All staff, including management, treat residents with upmost care and understanding,
being so friendly like an actual family. The food tastes lovely and is homemade, adding to the family feel. Residents can’t escape as all doors are locked, this is good as my dad used to leave his last place and get lost. The best thing about Clovelly House is the amount of activities there are for the residents. I’ve spent a lot of time here, seeing them all enjoying themselves. Definitely recommend Clovelly House, it’s the best care home I’ve been to.

Parent needs a care home but I had the same concerns. Was it the right thing to do? Mother was suffering from dementia she needed more than I could give. I was looking for small, friendly, clean, good food, caring/loving, experienced staff and activities to help with mental and physical health.
Mother
enjoyed 18 months in Clovelly before she passed away in January 2023. Elvis visited regularly as do many other entertainers, handicraft sessions, petting animals and all manner of things to bring enjoyment to the VIP's.
Clovelly House was her home, VIP's and staff family. Every visit she asked if she could stay, and the carers would say, of course, you can. She did. All I will add is the words the family used at her service “Clovelly showed what caring was and that living with old age and disabilities could still be fun. At Clovelly House she had all the comforts a family can provide plus respect and dignity”.
Thank you all at Clovelly House.
Reply from Kim Marshall, Registered Manager at Clovelly HouseOn behalf of the Clovelly team, we like to thank you for your lovely review. I will pass on your comments to the staff group. My 80-year-old mother has advanced dementia, she has lived in Clovelly House for over 3-years and is very well cared for. The staff are amazing people, caring and considerate. There are plenty of activities for her, and she is given lots of support and encouragement to enjoy the various activities.
I am very happy with the care my mother receives at Clovelly House.

Our mum has been in Clovelly House almost a year now as she was no longer able to care for herself safely at home. The management and staff who my sister and I have dealt with, have been exceptional, nothing seems too much trouble for them. There's always someone on the end of the phone to answer any
questions we may have. You are also kept up to date with emails and photos to keep you informed. We certainly recommend.

I feel reassured that my mother is safe at Clovelly. The decor is pleasant and cosy and the food excellent. The staff are professional and friendly and I am kept informed of my mum's condition and was pleased to receive photos, handicrafts and videos sent to me when Covid restrictions prevented visits.
The staff go over and above to provide social events for friends, relatives and residents.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.548)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.548) out of 10 for Clovelly House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.773 for Clovelly House is calculated as follows: ( (102 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.773
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clovelly House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
