A clean, friendly home with caring manager and staff. Varied and good food. Indoor and outdoor entertainment at regular intervals, pleasant private communal rooms.

I have found The Gables to be an excellent home for both my stepfather and my mother in law. Their needs have been met and just as importantly they have been happy to be there. There is plenty going on and the meals are home cooked daily and very good quality. The staff are both professional and caring at all times.

My uncle was resident in The Gables from April 2014 until his death in January 2016. As far as he could be happy anywhere he was happy there. He was very well looked after was always clean and presentable. The staff were very helpful and easy to deal with and the manager was excellent. My uncle was previously in another care place for 3 months. This home was considerably more expensive and very impersonal- The Gables was streets ahead. At the time of his final decline the staff kept me informed and were very sympathetic.

My father aged 95 first visited The Gables in 2015. He started with respite care for two weeks initially to give my mother aged 91 a rest as his full time carer. He went on to have a day there a week. The care he received from the manager, the care staff to the catering staff was genuinely caring. Dad was treated with the utmost respect and dignity at all times. The consideration and empathy shown to us as a family was exemplary. The manager even went beyond her call of duty and would walk dad home to save mum coming to fetch him. Dad died peacefully in The Gables 20.1.16 and the care, dignity and love was there till then.

We first visited "The Gables" in 2015 seeking respite for my father aged 95. My mother (91) was struggling to cope as his carer at home from the very first contact from the manager (female) to every staff member we met the understanding and caring approach felt like we suddenly had a larger family! Our dad died in The Gables on 20th January 2016, it is not possible to feel happy just now, but dad was well cared for to the end. The Gables team did that.

My mother had ten days respite care in The Gables. We found the manager and all the staff to be very caring, the residents lounge was welcome and cosy. Mum actually looks forward to going into The Gables.
