Laurel Lodge is a comfortable, homely facility with caring and diligent staff, which has recently been refurbished to a good standard. The rooms are well appointed and vary in size. The small number of rooms mean that residents and staff quickly get to know each other. There is a varied programme of
activities and entertainment and the food provided is home cooked to a high standard. There is a pleasant enclosed garden area for residents to enjoy.

My mother is 96 and we consider our self very lucky that Black Swan company took over the home. Everything was refurbished with high quality, coordinated stylish furniture and huge TVs. Especially impressive are the dining room and the lounges. There is a new shiny hairdresser saloon opposite mum's
room.
We were very pleased that her room was refurbished with new furniture and huge smart TV by the initiative of the company.
There is plenty of entertainment and exercises. Christmas was great fun with all sorts of food and drinks for residents and visitors
There are a dozen chicken eggs waiting to be born in the lounge just for this Easter.
The food is always exceptionally tasty, you should try the banoffee cake, I did. All the relatives are invited for lunch.
The staff is exceptionally good and caring. Always alert. They know immediately when to call the doctor or nurse before even the patient knows.
Thank you Laurel Lodge for looking after Mum.
Thank you Black Swan!

Over the past few weeks I have been really impressed by Laurel Lodge. The staff are always helpful and welcoming. They are very patient and caring with the residents, even under difficult situations. My brother, a resident, is one of the most difficult people I have ever met. He seems very content at
Laurel Lodge and has nothing but praise for the staff. He can be difficult over food but always tells me what lovely meals he has, praise indeed from him.

We were very pleased with the care Laurel Lodge provided for my Aunt. Laurel Lodge were very proactive in informing my Aunt's GP as to her her condition, so she got rapid medical attention when needed. They gave us a lot of help and support. Again with my wife and myself they very quickly kept us informed
at all times how she was. We felt confident she was being well cared for at all times.
For us it was very convenient having a good local care for my Aunt, where we could visit her at all hours of the day. The staff were always kind and on hand to assist her any time of the day. Particular care was taken over the food she was provided with and her room was always kept clean and spotless.
Our thanks to all the staff and the management.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.938)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.938) out of 10 for Laurel Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.938 for Laurel Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.938
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Laurel Lodge is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2021

Emily Carrasquillo began her career in care in 2011, after returning to the UK from America, to provide care to her grandparents in their later years following her grandfather's Dementia diagnosis.
Emily cared for them until her grandfather entered a residential care home, and provided end-of-life care to her grandmother until she passed away in her own home.

This personal experience ignited a passion in Emily and prompted her to consider a career in care. Emily told us: "I couldn't imagine not working in care, every day I walk through the door at Laurel Lodge is like going home, it's my happy place"
