St Edmund's

St Edmunds provided excellent care for my mother during her recent two-month placement with them. Visiting was complicated due to Covid restrictions, but the staff always went out of their way to ensure safe visits were supported. I was impressed by how much better my Mum looked after her few weeks at St Edmunds, and she tells me all staff were lovely, and that she was very well fed! Mum had some hospital appointments whilst there, and this was also well supported by staff, they even provided drinks and food to go with her in case she was delayed and missed lunch. I work full time as a registered nurse, caring is my profession, and I can reassure anyone who’s loved one may be going to St Edmunds that they will receive excellent care from dedicated and kind staff.

My mother was placed at St Edmunds temporarily after a hospital stay. This was not an easy time for her or the family, however, the members of staff acted in an extremely professional way, even during a stressful and unknown time with Covid being so prominent in society. My mother was extremely upset and to lessen the situation; she was placed in a private room. This was a distressing time for her and the family, but the management and staff went above and beyond to comfort, understand and care for my mother in such a kind and professional way, and at all times, continuing to carry out rigorous procedures to keep residents and staff safe. I, unfortunately, due to Covid, did not visit my mother here, therefore cannot comment on activities or overall home, only on the excellent care and the way in which all staff supported all of us, especially Mum during this time. I'd highly recommend this home on the basis of what I have experienced, and am so grateful this was the place chosen for her.

I would like to say what amazing staff they have there. They looked after my mum in her last months and not only made her safe and settled but also helped me knowing that she was. My mum was a character and kept them on their toes but the staff became her great friends and she liked every one of them. She even made them have a coffee with her at 2 am when she couldn't sleep. I must say nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and I know she would too. You're all amazing.

Overall, the care my mother-in-law recieved was excellent, her requirements were demanding and time-consuming, but were always carried out in a kind and professional manner by all the staff involved in her care. She may not have always showed her gratitude, but that was due to the circumstances she was dealt with at the latter years of her life, but the family were certainly grateful to you all.

The care received by Uncle since he moved to St Edmund's has been second to none. All the staff are very caring and look after the residents to a very high standard. The activities offered are also wide-ranging and engaging for residents. Food is of good quality with an excellent choice.

My mum has been in St Edmund's for about 17 months, and the decision for Mum to go into care was obviously very hard for us all. I would like to say that the staff at St Edmund's have always gone above and beyond their duties to look after my mum and the family, during this very upsetting and distressing time. They treat us all like extended family, and I can’t thank them enough for how they deal with situations in a professional, safe but caring way, therefore, can’t recommend or thank them enough.

I can not fault this home in any way.

My brother, sister, and I have found the manager and all the staff to be caring and very helpful to residents and visitors alike. I would certainly recommend this home to anybody.

My father spent the last 10 weeks of his life in St Edmund's. I have nothing but praise for the loving care and attention he received during this time. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they gave me loving support at this sad time. All the staff were friendly and Dad had a good rapport with them. I have no hesitation in recommending St Edmund's Home.

St Edmund's staff and management are friendly and approachable, also very caring and my aunt was well looked after.

My mother was a resident at St Edmund's for almost a year - January to September/ October. Throughout her stay she was always well looked after, all her needs were met. As a family we enjoyed visiting because the staff were always friendly, welcoming and gave us the time to discuss issues if there were any. We rated St Edmund's highly.

They packed his room up for us to save us the distress too. We can't praise or thank them enough.

My mother whilst staying here had nothing but praise for the staff and the care she was given which is amazing praise indeed as she was not always easy to please and was not convinced that she needed to be in a care home (everyone else was!)

St Edmunds is only second best to your own home. The management, carers and residents are all very kind, could not wish for anything better.

I found the manager, the assistant manager and all the staff very efficient and dedicated to their profession. They treated my father with respect in caring for him in what was to be the last months of his life. He was treated with dignity and always allowed to make his own decisions. My family were also treated with respect and kindness especially myself as I needed comfort at a very difficult time of my life. I really can't thank them all enough for everything they did.

I have found both the staff and management to be friendly and caring. Residents are treated with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, the home's event organiser is off long-term sick which has meant over the last few weeks the existing staff have only been able to put on activities on an ad-hoc basis when time allows. In view of this, I believe a full-time event organiser needs to be appointed so that residents are kept occupied and stimulated daily.

Staff learnt how to handle him and accepted that he was unable to accept his loss of independence. Therefore they developed ways of keeping him safe etc... Without him realising.

I am really pleased with the level of emotional care my dad has received, all staff work in a very friendly but professional way and do not give my dad any reason to worry about anything. He has been able to feel safe, happy, respected. I can trust all staff to be able to talk about anything on his mind and he has been met with non-judgemental and uncomplicated responses that are to promote his well-being and self-esteem.

The home is a warm and friendly environment with kind and helpful management and staff. My mother in law lived there for 18 months until her death at the age of 94. She was happy with her room and the way she was treated.
