Over all time Oaklands House has 59 reviews.
During the last 30 years, my wife and I have visited Oaklands on many occasions to visit friend who have received care with dignity and compassion. Due to out physical disabilities, we are now residents, and the same principles of care still apply.
It has been a pleasure getting to know you over the years, and to be able to welcome you further into the Oaklands family and provide the support you have given to so many of our other residents is an honour we all hold.
Good food and some amusing residents.
A very good and creative activities lady who gives some very good presentations; I especially liked the one, in particular.
Thank you for the review; it's so nice to hear the views of the residents and that the efforts of all the staff are felt by those that we care for.
My aunt recently moved into Okalands and has settled in well. She is happy and well looked after. Her main worry was whether she would get frequent showers - being doubly incontinent with ulcerative colitis, and her personal hygiene is very important. Staff in the home have recognised the importance of this and worked hard to find a system of showers every other day that is feasible and suits her needs. This is excellent, and my aunt is very pleased.
Thank you for the review; it has been our pleasure to work closely with your aunt to facilitate her needs and ensure her personal choices are met.
Mum's room was warm and comfortable. The staff helpfully brought in an extra chair for us to sit alongside Mum
Thank you for your kind words, knowing that the residents and their families were happy with the provided support and care is the biggest thanks we can receive.
Thank you.
Thank you for your kinds words, we don't just care about our residents but their families to, I am glad to know that this was felt by you also.
I would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the manager and all the team for taking such good care of mum. I know it only turned out to be a much shorter stay than most of us expected, but everyone was so good to her at that time. While she remained very independent in spirit, knowing that she was not alone towards the end was a great comfort to her and our family.
Thank you for such kind words, being able to provide such support and comfort at the greatest time of need is at the core of all we do.
They were all kind, and thoughtful and delivered excellent nursing care.
I was impressed (as an ex-nurse myself) with all the caring staff, staff behind the scenes, the manager and the excellent relationship they have with the medical team at the Health Centre. Thank-you.
Thank you for such kind words, I know the staff work very hard for our residents to ensure the best for them no matter what stage of their lives they are at. I am glad we were able to provide the needed support at such a difficult time.
I am 101 years old and my reason for going to Oaklands House was that I didn't recover completely after a chest infection. After my stay, I am fine and hope to have further little holidays for some tender loving care when needed.
I am so glad you enjoyed your "Holiday" to Oaklands. It was a pleasure having you with us and we look forward to your next break away.
My mum was a resident at Oaklands House for 6 years before she passed away recently. During her last days I don’t have adequate words to thank the Manager and all the staff for the tender loving care they showed mum and the exceptional support they provided to our family. They are a credit to the care profession and will always be in our hearts.
Thank you for your kind words, mum has been at the heart of Oaklands for many years. The families of our residents have and always will be as bigger part of this home as the residents, being able to provide the support and reassurance at such a time of need is honestly our pleasure.
My mother-in-law appreciated the care and patience of the staff during her stay. Special dietary requirements were catered for, with good variety provided by a creative and caring kitchen. She settled into a secure and comfortable environment that really was a home from home.
Thank you for your kind words, we strive to cater to all the needs of our residents making this not just a place to live and be cared for but as you say 'a home from home'.
Choosing Oaklands House for my mum was the best choice I could have made. From day one, Mum had the care and support of each of the staff and whenever I called nothing was ever too much trouble. Mum was happy to be part of everything going on and always felt special. Oaklands' staff, from the manager through to everyone who worked there, were a huge support to me and I know they will miss her.
Thank you for such a wonderful review. Mum was such a big part of the Oaklands family and will be dearly missed by all; her charisma and joyful nature brought many smiles across the home every day. This means so much to me and all the staff, knowing the impact that the care and support provided have to our lovely Oaklands family is what drives the passion from each and every member of staff.
Oaklands is in a really lovely setting, and my dad has enjoyed watching the squirrels and listening to the birds. Oaklands is always kept clean, warm and welcoming. The checking on him throughout the day and night; staff recording everything my dad eats, along with keeping an eye on his weight. The food is always presented really nicely. All the staff are caring, kind, attentive, friendly and professional. The staff always treated my dad with dignity and respect; he liked the way they always knocked on his door, as opposed to just walking in. My dad always had his call bell in easy reach. All staff were thorough throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, checking PCR's, Covid passports for residents and visitors. The manager seems like an excellent leader, friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
Thank you so much for this glowing review, its always so heart warming knowing the efforts of staff have such of positive impact not only on the residents we care for but their families also.
Oaklands House has been the best possible home for my father during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Everyone working here is cheerful, caring and courteous to all residents, and it is always a pleasure for me to visit Dad and the home.
Many thanks for the lovely review. I know just how hard the staff work each and every day for the welfare of the residents, knowing that the families of our residents have peace of mind with the care they receive and daily living is the biggest compliment of all.
My aunt has been very well looked after during the last four years of her residency. There is a very high standard of cleanliness, both in her room and general areas. Although the staff have changed during this time, they have always maintained a good relationship with her and particularly over the last few very difficult months during the pandemic when visiting hasn't been possible. The arrangement of using FaceTime has given us the opportunity to stay connected and realise that good care is being maintained.
Thank you for the kind review, one of the key aspects of life living through Covid has been to keep our residents in contact with their loved ones even with the restrictions in place. I know the staff do their utmost to ensure the well being of the resident and it is so reassuring to hear that the residents and relatives feel the same way.
My cousin has been in Oaklands House since August 2018. The level of care has been stable over this whole period. However, the level of support has been exceptional over the last year. The communication from the home over the prolonged Covid pandemic period has been regular and informative. The level of personal care has continued to meet my full expectations. In this period my cousin has recovered from a replacement hip operation and a continued level of dementia. Her health if anything has improved with improved mobility and ability to use the communal area. It is the continued support of the team in keeping the Residents occupied is a major advantage of living in Oaklands. The quality of care support has been exceptional. The home is always clean and well presented. The personal care of the Residents is maintained and the staff are particularly supportive of the individuals. This extends to treating everyone in the same caring environment with dignity.
Thank you so much for this wonderful review. This has certainly been a challenging year not only for the staff but all of our lovely residents also, I know every effort is put in daily for the care, support and well being of those that live and thrive at Oaklands House. It is the biggest compliment...
Wonderful care - so much so it looks like our mum will stay permanently - she loves it here. The care is superb as is the dining. Friendly, genuine and kind professionals giving care and company to a great group of residents. Thank you for taking such great care of our mother.
Thank you very much for the wonderful review, the residents are always number one priority and we too hope that mum remains with us, she is already part of the Oaklands family and settled into life here so well.
Despite her terminal condition, my sister thought she was being well looked after and the staff were wonderful. Her appetite was extremely poor but an effort was made to tempt her with what she liked.
Thank you for the lovely review, no matter the condition our residents are always given 100%. I'm glad she was happy with the care provided whilst she was here.
Following a nasty fall in his home, at the age of 88, my father joined Oaklands for a temporary one month trial to recuperate. Seven months later and he's waiting to sell his home and become a permanent resident. Regular, well-balanced meals, frequent drinks and the overseeing of his medication have all helped him to get into better physical shape than he's been for years. The kindness and friendliness of the staff and their cheerful attitude, particularly during the very difficult Covid-19 times have kept him positive and happy. The VE Day outdoor party was especially appreciated by him. My family couldn't be more grateful to them for keeping him safe, well and happy.
What lovely words, it's always so nice to hear that the dedication and hard work of all here at Oaklands truly does make a difference to those we care for. Seeing the difference and improvement in our residents is what each and every one of us strives for.
Excellent.
Thank you for a wonderful review, it means so much.
Can’t thank you all enough for the care you have taken of my mother as well as all the residents in a very trying time. Spirits are high considering the lockdown and it’s all down to you guys, the staff and carers.
Thank you for your wonderful review. We all know how hard times are at the moment and I'm very glad the feeling of positivity within the home is reflected to the families of those we care for.
